Matthew's eyes were cold as he looked at Jensen as though he were a dead man. "You said the clinic is violating regulations, but it was Lance Stanford who handled the paperwork for me. Are you saying that he issued the health permit illegally?"

Lance Stanford? How could that be possible?

Jensen's eyes widened in disbelief as he looked at Matthew. Lance was a major health official in Lambda City. Anyone who dealt with him was either a hospital director or a pharmaceutical factory owner.

Anyone who knew Lance could easily make money by simply producing medicine or opening a hospital. How could he possibly have been involved in the opening of just a clinic?

Jensen said incredulously, "You... you can't possibly know Lance. Even if you did, he wouldn't be reduced to inspecting a small clinic."

Matthew recalled when he'd met Lance during the permit application process, which was when the latter had heard that Matthew wanted to open a clinic.

Lance had asked if he wanted to open a hospital instead and offered to find investors for him. Matthew only had to be responsible for making money.

At that time, Matthew had said that he only wanted to open a clinic, which had left Lance in shock. After confirming with him several times, Lance had personally handled the paperwork.

He had said that it was his way of repaying Matthew's favor-the latter had saved his father's life.

Hearing the doubt in Jensen's voice, Matthew said coldly, "I can contact him. Would you like to talk to him?"

He didn't want to escalate things. After all, he still wanted to make sure Silas could keep his clinic. So, he took out his phone and called Lance.

"Hello, Dr. Grant? If you have any instructions for me, I'll be right over."

Matthew passed his phone to Jensen. "Talk to him."

Jensen's face paled in fear upon hearing Lance's voice. He stammered, "Mr. Stanford, my name is Jensen Lynch. There's been a misunderstanding here. I... I made Dr. Grant angry."

Lance's angry voice blasted on the other end. "Jensen, was it? Are you blind? If you made Dr. Grant angry, you made me angry! Apologize to him right now. If he's not satisfied, I won't spare you!"

Lance was truly angry. Although he had paid for Matthew to treat his father's Marrowfragia, he had learned that his ancestors also suffered from the same disease.

He was worried that this bone disease was hereditary and feared that he might get it in the future. Thus, he was especially respectful toward Matthew.

Over the years, he'd always been the one getting beaten up and bullied He'd never thought of fighting back. All he wanted was to run a clinic and be a good doctor. That was all he asked for.

Matthew said coldly, "Yes, hit him hard. Make him remember the pain, so no one will dare to bully you again."

Silas was at a loss for words. When it came to treating patients, he was skilled. But when it came to fighting, he had no idea how to do it.

After hesitating for a long time, he finally said, "Let's just forget it."

Hearing this, Jensen breathed a sigh of relief. At least this guy hadn't lost his mind!

Forget it? Matthew frowned. "Silas, do you want to keep your clinic?"

"Yes!" Silas answered without hesitation. This was his lifelong profession and dream. If he couldn't be a doctor, he'd rather beg on the streets.

you because there are no

consequences. They act recklessly regardless of their status or yours. If bullying meant risking their lives,

to do it.

"Go ahead and hit him! Beat him to death so that he won't dare to bully you again! Otherwise, you might as well close down your clinic!"
