Despite Rachel's disdain for the Emmanuel and Baxter, as the president of Wealthwave Group, she still had to prioritize her business and put her company first.

However, she was worried about what kind of outrageous demands they might make. "How can we get our drug into the hospital?"

Emmanuel looked around the empty coffee house. It was early in the morning, and they were the only customers there.

Relieved that there was no one else around, he said, "Your drug is too cheap for the hospital to make much money. In fact, it's not a big problem if the hospital doesn't make money, but we can't not make any money." Rachel immediately understood that they wanted a bribe.

Her direct approach seemed to be making progress. "If you two can help our company, we won't let you suffer. How much are we talking about?" Emmanuel smiled and said, "From now on, let's just say one or two words, no more." As he spoke, he held up a hand and waved it at Rachel. 500 thousand dollars?

Rachel frowned slightly. The price of the new drug wasn't high, and 500 thousand dollars would wipe out a year's profit.

But in order to get into the hospitals and break into the market, she decided to give up a year's profit. "I can do 500 thousand dollars." Emmanuel shook his head. He wasn't interested in a measly 500 thousand dollars. He wanted five million dollars.

Rachel was confused to see him shaking his head. It wasn't 500 thousand dollars?

Her expression turned grim. Five million dollars in bribes would mean losing ten years of profit for this drug in this hospital alone.

She found it quite hard to believe. "Five million dollars?"

Emmanuel nodded. He insisted on short responses to avoid any incriminating recordings. Things were still clear enough even if he just said a few words, and if they happened to be recorded, the conversation would be too abrupt to be considered admissible evidence. He had consulted a lawyer, who'd recommended this tactic.

"Yes!"

Rachel shook her head. The amount was too high, equating to losing the next ten years of profits to Medicare Hospital.

She was contemplating whether or not to negotiate the price when Matthew suddenly walked over.

In the past, he had always helped her solve difficult problems. She decided to let him handle this.

When Matthew reached them,

Rachel stood up and introduced him. "Mr. Kendrick, Mr. Paulson, this is Matthew Grant, our company's sales representative. He will be handling sales, dealings with you from now on. Please be nice to him."

"You!"

Baxter recognized Matthew immediately. "Grant. So, you're an employee of Wealthwave Group. This deal is off. All our previous deals are canceled too." Rachel was stunned. "You know each other?"

Baxter replied coldly, "More than that. I've been beaten up by him before!"

Rachel felt like she had shot herself

in the foot. Not only was that day's deal off, but all previous deals were going to be canceled too. This was a huge loss.

"Matthew, why did you hit Mr. Paulson? It must've been a misunderstanding. Quick, apologize to him."

Matthew frowned. An apology was out of the question. "I think he deserved it!"

"You!" Rachel shot him a look. She didn't expect him to say that, and she was momentarily at a loss for words.

Baxter scoffed. "See? It's that attitude! How can we work together?"

Trying to salvage the situation, Rachel explained with a smile, "There must be a misunderstanding. Mr. Paulson, Wealthwave Group has been working with you for so many years. I'm sure there's some goodwill between us. Please give us a chance to make it up to you."

Matthew refused to apologize, so she could only offer other compensations.

Baxter smiled maliciously. A goodwill compensation could mean just a few hundred thousand dollars, a sum that meant nothing to him.

Simply purchasing an imported piece of equipment could earn him a few hundred thousand dollars. He wasn't short of money. He just wanted revenge.

"For your sake, I'll give him a chance to apologize. It's simple-he must slap himself a hundred times."
