The Day Our Promise Breaks -
Chapter 60
Rosa took the phone, glanced at it, and her face suddenly darkened. She looked up and barked angrily, "Kneel down!"
Sena was already feeling guilty and preparing to admit her faults after Evelyn mentioned evidence. She was taken aback by Rosa's sudden outburst.
She knew it. How could Evelyn possibly have any proof?
At that time, when Sandy went to confront Evelyn, Sena was standing across the lake, watching everything clearly. Besides Evelyn and Sandy, she was the only witness. As long as she insisted on her version, Evelyn would have no way to refute it. Evidence? She almost believed Evelyn's nonsense.
With this thought, Sena straightened her back and lifted her head. She noticed Evelyn still standing beside her and immediately scolded her with a cold face, "Evelyn, didn't you hear grandma telling you to kneel? Do it now!"
As she spoke, she reached for Evelyn's arm, intending to force her down.
"You are the one that should kneel!" Rosa's voice thundered again.
"Me?" Sena was shocked. She met Rosa's stern gaze and, frightened, collapsed onto the floor with a "thud." "Grandma, what did I do wrong?" Sena, convinced Evelyn had no evidence, knelt there, pleading her case.
"Is this what you claimed to have seen with your own eyes?"
With just one look from Rosa, the butler, Tony, had already projected the video from Evelyn's phone onto the wall.
Everyone's attention shifted to the video. It clearly showed that Evelyn didn't push Sandy. Sandy fell into the lake on her own.
Sena's face turned pale instantly. She hadn't expected Evelyn to actually have evidence.
This bitch! She must have set a trap in advance just to watch her fall into it.
"Evelyn, I can't believe it. You deliberately recorded everything on the phone just to get Grandma to punish me, didn't you?" "Slap!"
With a raised hand, a fierce slap landed on Sena's face. The look in Rosa's eyes was filled with extreme disappointment. Sena, holding her face, had never been treated harshly by Rosa, let alone been hit. This was the first time Rosa struck her. All because of that bitch, Evelyn.
"Grandma, why did you hit me? Where did I go wrong? It's obvious that Evelyn was deliberately framing me!"
"How dare you say that! What's wrong with Eve being cautious? Did she hold a knife to your throat and force you to lie and frame her?" Rosa was furious. As she watched Sena's defiant and unrepentant face, she raised her hand to slap her again.
"Mom!" Before Rosa could land the
second stap, Carmen stepped forward to shield Sena. "Mom, Sena is still young and naive. Please, don't stoop to her level."
"Young? How is she twenty-four and still naive? When does she plan to grow up? Carmen, you spoiled Sena!" Carmen dared not respond.
Rosa glared at her sharply, then
turned her gaze to Sena. "You go to
the chapel and kneel to reflect on
для
your actions. No one is to let her out without my permission!"
In the Jenkins family, Rosa had the absolute say. At her command, Sena was dragged away.
Catching Rosa's stern look, Carmen swallowed back her plea for mercy. As she returned to her seat on the sofa, her gaze harshly swept over Evelyn.
Evelyn calmly met her gaze, her eyes
moving past Carmen to land on
Dahlia, who was sitting next to Charles, trying her best to make herself inconspicuous.
Was she acting fearful and innocent now? Evelyn wasn't planning to let her off.
"Grandma, Dahlia was also in this," Evelyn said, with her eyes reddened, in a voice filled with hurt.
Dahlia might rely on Charles' power, but she could rely on Rosa's.
