She suddenly turned around and glared at the newcomer. Her voice sounded low and angry, "What are you doing here?"

"I came looking for you, of course, Dahlia."

""What for?"

"Heh, I've been a bit unlucky lately... How about you give me another million to spend?"

"You're out of your mind. We're square. I owe you nothing more!"

Dahlia watched John with disdain. He was absolutely desperate. She didn't want anything to do with this gambling addict. With a grave expression, she picked up her purse and turned to leave.

Just as she took a step, the man blocked her path again. "Don't play with me. Did you think I'd come unprepared?"

"I'll have you know. I've looked into it. That day, you came to me, saying your daughter was in critical condition and needed an immediate kidney transplant. I took pity on you. My wife decided to change the donee of her kidney on the spot, and it went to your daughter. But then, Ms. Evelyn's daughter died on the operating table."

"You don't have to sugarcoat it. If it wasn't for the million I gave you, you wouldn't have chosen to donate the kidney to my daughter. I gave you money, and you sold me a kidney. It was a deal we both agreed on.

"John, don't try to use this against me. Even if you go public, I'm not afraid. Evelyn daughter had a life worth saving, so did mine. I'm not a saint. I'm a mother. Faced with a choice, of course, I'd choose my daughter's life over anything else. What's wrong with that?" Dahlia's words were firm as she faced John.

Charlie's death was her own fault. She should have never existed.

Five years ago, Dahlia had meticulously planned that night, hoping to use their anniversary to seduce Charles into a commitment through pregnancy. Unexpectedly, an accident led Evelyn into Charles' room, and she ended up pregnant, securing her position through the child.

With a child in the picture, it didn't

matter if Charles didn't love Evelyn. He stilk took responsibility. Evelyn took the place that should have been hers.

BUMS

Charles might not have loved Evelyn, but he cared for Charlie, their child.

Dahlia knew Rosa was in a coma and immediately returned to the country. Her return was to reclaim everything that belonged to her.

With Charlie in the picture, Evelyn

would always have a bond with Charles

and they could never f

separate. Charlie would be better off dead.

"Tsk, tsk, you almost had me fooled!" John clicked his tongue. "If I hadn't found out by accident that my wife's kidney was never a match for your daughter..."

"Shut up!" Dahlia's face changed instantly. Her expression was fierce as she cut off John's words.

How could John possibly know about this?

Dahlia's mind was in turmoil. Her gaze nervously flicked towards the hospital entrance.

Charles had said he'd be only a few minutes away. He should almost be here.

She absolutely couldn't let Charles find out that she had intentionally stolen Charlie's kidney source, leading to Charlie's death. Dahlia was fearful of what was to come. Charles' tall, imposing figure appeared in her line of sight and she was truly panicked now. "Scared, are you?" Sensing her distress, John's laughter grew more maniacal.

"All you want is money, right? I'll give it to you! This afternoon, I'll transfer the money to your account. Now, leave immediately."
