The Day Our Promise Breaks -
Chapter 32
In the midst of the conversation, she glanced at Evelyn. In that look, the admiration she held for Evelyn, was unmistakably present in her eyes.
She adored Evelyn's latest design piece. In her heart, Evelyn was the true winner.
"Given that the second and third place participants also performed exceptionally well in this competition, the executives at Carlisle Jewels have unanimously decided to offer internships to both. We hope all three of you will continue to push forward, striving to create more and better works."
As soon as these words were announced, the room erupted into a buzz of excitement.
Getting into Carlisle Jewels was every jewelry designer's dream. Naturally, it was Evelyn's dream, too. She could hardly believe her ears.
"Really? That's amazing!"
The joyous exclamation from Grace, who placed third, and the grimace on Dahlia's face made it clear she hadn't misheard.
It was real!
Dahlia's expression was beyond ugly at this point. Initially, it was understood that only the first-place winner would get into Carlisle Jewels. And now, Evelyn was in too!
Dahlia clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palms.
After the thunderous applause, the award ceremony concluded.
The host announced, "The ceremony is over. Please exit the stage in an orderly fashion."
Charles and Dahlia left from the left side. Dahlia, arm in arm with Charles, deliberately walked past Evelyn.
Evelyn chose to exit on the right side, with Brooks closely behind. He was a true gentleman, allowing Evelyn to go first.
Evelyn's skirt was too long, and her heels were too high. When she started to descend the stairs, she accidentally stepped on her dress.
"Ah!" She let out a soft cry and was about to tumble to the ground.
"Be careful!" Brooks extended his long arm in time, gently wrapping it around her waist.
His action was gentlemanly, and he did not touch her inappropriately. Only after Evelyn had steadied herself did he withdraw his hand.
Evelyn was a bit shaken, her eyes reddening, and she thanked him with a tremble, "Thank you."
"You're welcome." Brooks gave her a slight smile.
After speaking, he extended his arm, gesturing for her to hold onto him as they descended.
Evelyn paused for a moment, then without any pretense, she gave Brooks a grateful smile. "Thank you!"
Then, gracefully, she placed her hand on his arm and descended with composure.
Brooks was the epitome of a gentleman, supporting her all the way backstage.
Charles say this entire scene, and his face darkened to the extreme When he saw Evelyn and Brooks exchanging smiles, the chill in his eyes could freeze someone to death.
"Dahlia, you were amazing! I knew for sure you would take first place!"
Sena was unaware of the turn of events. She only knew that Dahlia was the winner, held a bouquet of flowers and joyously congratulated her.
Dahlia wasn't in the best of moods
but still managed to force a smile She gently inhaled the scent of the
flowers and tenderly said, "the
you, Sena."
Evelyn walked by from the other side and needed to pass by the two. She ignored them and walked straight past.
As they brushed past each other, Sena caught a glimpse of Evelyn and, with a sense of schadenfreude, sarcastically said, "Some people will stop at nothing, yet in the end, it's all for naught. Tsk, tsk, tsk,
swnthem
right."
