The Cherished Wife (Noelle and Charles) -
Chapter 834
This matter was not something that could be resolved in an instant. However, Charles was now certain-based on Nancy's reaction-that she wasn't entirely heartless toward Peter. The next step would be dealing with Henry. If Henry had no objections, Charles had more than enough means to bring Tania back.
Ideally, Charles wished Tania would not need to return. But if someone truly intended to use her as a pawn, then her situation was far too dangerous.
Apart from her parents, the only person who truly cared for and could protect Tania was Peter.
"Aunt Nancy, I'll handle this matter thoroughly. You don't need to worry about Tania's safety," Charles assured her. His promise meant Tania would not come to harm.
Nancy nodded. "I'll think it over."
"There's no rush, Aunt Nancy. Shall we head back now?"
"Yes, let's. I already told your Uncle Henry I'd stay at Phoenix Tree Residence for a couple of days, and he agreed."
Hearing this, Noelle exhaled in relief. She had worried earlier that Nancy might be upset by what they did today and refuse to return with them. Since Nancy was not angry, Noelle stood up with a smile and helped her up. "Aunt Nancy, let's head back." Charles also stood, but just as he did, his phone rang. Narrowing his eyes, he took it out and saw that it was a call from the Hoffman residence. He hesitated for a moment before answering, "What's the matter?"
"Mr. Charles, Sir Hoffman needs to see you," the Hoffmans' butler stammered.
Before he could finish, Maxwell took the phone from him. "Come back right now!" Maxwell's tone was harsh, making it clear that something serious had happened. Charles remained calm, sitting back down as he asked, "What's going on?"
"Don't ask me what's going on-you know exactly what you did!" Maxwell snapped, his voice brimming with frustration. "Tell me, did you return to the residence just now?"
"Yes, I came to take Aunt Nancy out for a strott. What of it? Are you going to meddle in that too, Grandfather?" Charles asked, trying to discern what the issue might be without revealing too much.
"This isn't about Nancy," Maxwell growled. "Tell me was there a woman in your car?"
A sharp look flashed across Charles' face, so much so that even Noelle and Nancy could feel the shift in his energy.
Both women quietly sat back down. Noelle poured tea for Nancy as she cast a concerned glance at Charles, who was furrowing his brows deeply. "So, it seems you already know," he said coldly.
"Of course, I know! You've made it so obvious. How could I not? When did that woman come back? Didn't you send her away?" Maxwell sneered That woman?

Charles glanced briefly at Noelle, noticing the worry in her eyes. He gave her a reassuring look, signaling her not to worry. Turning his attention back to the call, he said firmly, "You've misunderstood, Grandfather."
"Misunderstood? What misunderstanding could there be? Her face="
"It's not what you think!" Charles interrupted, his voice steely. "You know me well enough. If I say it's not, then it's not."
Maxwell snorted. "So, it's that
woman from your company, then!
Don't think I don't know. I may be
old, but I'm not blind or stupid./net
warn you-end things with that
woman immediately, or else."
"Or else what?" Charles chuckled, a hint of defiance in his tone. "I'll handle my own affairs."
"No, you must break up with that woman. A woman like her isn't worthy of you. If you don't end things, don't blame me for taking matters into my own hands," Maxwell threatened.
