The Blue Wolf
Chapter 13

William’s Perspective:

Five minutes later, I was going down a long road. It started getting awkward in the car. At a light, I turned my head to Sophie for a few seconds “Hey Soph, do you have your phone?”

Sophie nodded “Yah why?” I said, “Put some music on.”

Sophie took out her phone, “K but Ara picks the first song.” I looked at Arabella in the rearview mirror, she looked out the window with a sad expression.

Sophie nudged her, “Ara, what song?” Ara said “You guys pick. Nothings coming to my mind.” Sophie said “No, you choose, it’s your choice”

Ara said, “Really, I can’t think.” Sophie said, “Cammmm aaaaaan, anything, just say it.”

Arabella closed her eyes and thought for like ten seconds, then opened them back up “Ok, Lover Boy, by Awfultune. But don’t blame me. If you guys don’t like this song.”

Sophie put the song on. The soft acoustic music and deep lyrics started filling the car. My chest filled with warmth listening to the song. When I met Arabella’s eyes in the rearview mirror she quickly looked away. It tore my heart apart.

Everyone in the car seemed like they were at peace or something. Like some sort of greatness was being bestowed to each one of us.

There was a line near the end that went like “You own my heart. And it’s no one else’s.” That’s exactly how I felt about Arabella.

When the song ended. I wanted to ask her where she had found that song but Nico beat me to it. “Arabella, where’d you find that song?”

Arabella laughed lightly and said “I’m really into underground or independent artists, that are usually signed to no one. I just feel like their music is more organic. No layers of fabrication because of having to meet any standards, you know? Like they put it out just cause they do, and that’s it.”

Nico said “That song was good. I’m usually not into sappy shit, but I liked that.” Arabella smiled “Yeah it’s my favorite.” Then she looked out of the window again with a sadder expression than the one before. I felt like hitting my head on my steering wheel.

Once we got to the mall parking lot and I park, I mind link Sophie and Nico to leave the car quickly. They do, and before Arabella can grab the handle to open the door I press the lock button.

She huffs “What? What do you want? Can you not see? I have no interest in being near you.”

I say “Arabella, I’m sorry.” She says “No you’re not.” I look into her eyes. She looks away. I say “I’m really sorry okay? You’re not even giving me chance.” She looks directly at me now “I have given you many chances to let me go.” I sigh deeply. “You don’t understand. There’s danger out there.”

She scoffs and speaks sarcastically “And in here I’m soooo safe that I got violently attacked by a monster.” I say “I’m sincerely sorry. When I saw you sitting with Ryker like that, I lost it.” She looks at me angrily now “Like What? Lost it? Why? I can sit with whoever I want, however, I want, you’re not my boyfriend. There’s nothing between us.” I don’t even know what to say anymore after that so I just tell her:

“Before we go inside. I have to tell you. Everyone’s gonna is staring at you. They aren’t staring cause you stick out or anything. They are looking at you. in respect. Every time you walk into a store, the owner or manager will bow to you in respect. Until you don’t regard them. They can’t stand up straight again. So just say “Hello.” Got it?”

Arabella looks away from me, out the window “Yeah ok. Whatever. Can I go now?” I sigh, then un-locked the car. She practically jumps out. And is by Nico’s side in about fifteen seconds, walking into the mall.

I was sitting with Nico on a bench not too far away, outside the store Arabella and Sophie were about to walk into. Both me and Nico were Sipping on smoothies. Nico suddenly said, “Yo Will you know you really lucked out with Arabella, right?” I said “Of course I know. But I don’t know how to make her like me.”

Nico laughed “Stop being so intense, try being more friendly. Why don’t you just ask her on a date? Or ask her to hang out alone? Or ask her if you can start over? There are lots of things you could try doing.” I looked at Nico “You’re right, I’ll try being less intense.”

Because of our heightened hearing. I knew Sophie was trying to convince Arabella into getting at least three full outfits, Arabella had agreed on one full outfit, and Sophie was upset about this.

They were walking into another clothing store now. When the manager saw Ara, he gasped. He immediately said “My Highness.” and bowed. Ara walked up to the man. She put her hands on his shoulders and said “Oh god, sir, please don’t bow. Stand straight.” The man stood straight and said “My highness, what would you like today?”

Arabella said, “Um, just a pair of large size tights, a long sleeve shirt, some socks, a sports bra, a pack of underwear, and long fall boots.”

The man smiled warmly “Luna, any color preference?” Ara said, “For the tights, I’d like black, for the shirt, red.” The man nodded “Right this way Dear Luna.”

See the reason why everyone knew what our Luna looked like was that my mom had sent one family member in each family of our entire pack a message explanation and a picture of Arabella sitting in some cafe, cigarette in one hand, phone in the other hand. She looked very pretty, we found this picture in her apartment the day she woke up in that tub.

I was thinking about things I shouldn’t be thinking about at this very moment.

I was thinking about how soft the skin on Ara’s h**s felt when my hands were over them. I was thinking about Ara’s lips and how warm they felt when I kissed her. I was thinking of her long hair and how pretty it was, falling all around her shoulders in waves. I was thinking about laying her down in my bed and making love to her when Sophie and Arabella walked out of the store. Ara with a smile. Sophie with a pout. Arabella said, “I’m not getting anything else dude.” Sophie looked at Ara, “No it’s not fair. Everything was on the house, that doesn’t mean I got it for you, so no.”

Arabella put her hand on Sophie’s arm “How about you help me escape?” Sophie said “No way. You’re all mine now.”

Even though I knew Sophie meant it in a sisterly way. I hated that sentence. Ara was only mine forever.

Arabella laughed lightly and said, “Okay then, lunch?” Sophie said “YES. What do you want?” Arabella said, “Let’s get out of here and go to a cafe.” Sophie said “Omg yes. I already know which one!”

Sophie grabbed Arabella’s hand and walked right past us.

I and Nico followed them out of the mall and to my car like losers.

Once I was in, I asked Sophie “Where?” Sophie said “Cafe Sofa.” I heard Ara’s sweet laugh. I couldn’t help myself, It made me smile.

Ara asked Sophie “Why is it called Cafe Sofa?” Sophie laughed hard. “It’s so dumb. Instead of chairs and normal tables. They have these long sofas and long tables.” Arabella laughed again “Okay. That’s creative.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We were waiting for our drinks and sandwiches. Nico and Arabella on one side, and me and Sophie on the other side of the table. I was trying my hardest not to gaze at Arabella.
Every time she’d lick her lips in the middle of speaking, I’d die. She just ignored me, talking only to Sophie and Nico, and oh my, was she doing a brilliant job at pretending I didn’t exist. Ara ordered pasta and a smoothie. Nico ordered whatever their biggest burger was and a coke. Sophie ordered chicken fingers with fries and a beer, and I ordered a chicken salad with a coffee.
Two waitresses came with our stuff. One of the waitresses didn’t leave, after they placed the food and drinks on the table, she stood there mesmerized, looking at Ara. Ara looked up at her and said “Yes?” The waitress said, “Luna, you’re even more beautiful than in your picture.” Ara looked at her shyly and confused “Um thanks.”. The waitress walked away after that.
For the next twenty minutes, we all had been eating and talking. My siblings asked her lots of questions, and I kept mind-linking questions to Sophie, to ask Ara naturally.
Ara told my siblings about her life growing up, about her mom, about working at the cafe. I listened attentively. We were all almost done with our food when I saw Ara’s eyes go wide, then she smiled. She got up and walked to the entrance of the cafe. Nico said, “Oh f**k no.” I turned my body on the sofa and saw Arabella wrapping her arms around Ryker’s neck in a friendly way.
Ryker said, “Whoa you smell good dude.” Arabella smiled, poked the Polaroid camera hanging on his neck “Taking pictures of leaves again? Ryker smiled provocatively at my mate “Yes miss, I am. But how did you know?”
I turned around. I was f*****g fuming. Sophie put her hand on mine. “Will, don’t.” I got up abruptly walked towards the scene, threw Arabella over my shoulder, and walked to my car. Once I had her in the passenger seat, I walked to the driver’s seat. Got in and started driving back to my house. I mind-linked Sophie to tell her.
Surprisingly from the moment I threw her on my back, up until we both weren’t in my room. She didn’t make a sound or give me a single expression. And it was freaking me the f**k out.
