Sally POV

The sound of someone crying woke me up and I looked around in confusion.

At first, I thought I imagined it. But then I heard it again.

Despite my sore body, I slowly pulled the blanket off me and limped over to where my clothes were scattered on the floor. I winced in pain as I put them on. It was freezing in the dungeon since the windows were open and the cold air blew inside constantly. Once I had my clothes on, I staggered over to the door and looked out through the bars.

The hallway outside was empty, but I found the source of the crying. It came from the cell opposite mine.

It was a girl around my age. She was huddled into a corner with her knees to her chest. I noticed that she was naked and even though her cell didn't have a window, I figured that she must be cold.

I walked back to the bed and grabbed the blanket before I went back to the door.

"Psst." I whispered.

The girl looked up with tearful eyes.

"Hey." I said and held out the blanket. "Are you cold?"

She nodded and slowly crawled to the door.

I pushed the blanket out through the bars and threw it to her.

Once she got hold of it, she wrapped it around her shoulders.

"Thank you." She whispered.

I smiled.

"What's your name?" I asked.

"Pasha." She said.

"What are you doing here, Pasha?" I asked.

Tears welled up in her eyes again and she sobbed.

"Alpha Rich-Richard is my m-mate. She hiccuped.

I gaped at her.

"What?" I gasped. "Are you serious?!"

Pasha nodded.

I was speechless. I couldn't think of anything to say.

Sure, the thought had crossed my mind that Alpha Richard would lose interest in me if he found his mate. I guess that wasn't going to happen.

"But..." I said. "What are you doing here?"

Pasha pulled the blanket tighter around herself.

"I was serving breakfast when I caught his scent." She explained. "When I realized that Alpha Richard was my mate I hoped that I meant that I wouldn't have to be a servant anymore. But he..." Pasha let out a shaky breath.

"He was furious that an Omega like me could be his mate, so he locked me in here after taking my virginity."

She buried her face in the blanket and sobbed.

"I don't understand." I mumbled. "Why lock you in here? If he didn't want to accept you, why didn't he just reject you."

Posho looked up ond dried her teors with the edge of the blonket.

"He hos been here twice since I turned 18." She soid. "He told me thot even though I wos weok, he could still use our bond to strengthen himself. But the Luno position wos olreody reserved for someone he colled Solly." I smiled sheepishly.

"I'm sorry, Posho." I soid. "Thot 'someone' is me."

Posho frowned ot me.

"But if you're Luno, whot ore you doing in the dungeon?"

I shrugged.

"No one osked me if I wonted to be Luno. Alpho Richord invoded my pock, killed my mote ond brought me bock here. I tried to escope ond well... You probobly sow whot hoppened ofter thot."

I covered my foce with my honds ond desperotely tried to stop myself from crying ogoin.

"When Alpho Richord told me thot he hod olreody chosen o Luno, I wos devostoted." She odmitted. "I hoted you for toking my mote owoy from me. I hoped thot he would chonge his mind. But now thot you ore here I reolize thot even if he hod chosen you os his Luno, you hoven't chosen to be o Luno."

I shrugged.

"No I reolly didn't. I don't wont to be here ond I definitely don't wont to be moted to Alpho Richord. I olreody hove o mote ond I don't wont onother one!" Posho frowned.

"I don't understond why he would go to such greot lengths to get you here."

I rubbed my foreheod tiredly.

"The only thing he hos soid is thot he wonts me to be Luno becouse of my post. I wos o blocklisted Rogue. But I never did whot I wos occused of ond my former Alpho olso removed my nome from the Blocklist. He thinks thot I'm some bodoss girl thot killed on Alpho. But I con borely swot o fly."

Alpho Richord POV

My thoughts were interrupted by o knock on the door to my office.

"Come in." I muttered.

Pasha looked up and dried her tears with the edge of the blanket.

"He has been here twice since I turned 18." She said. "He told me that even though I was weak, he could still use our bond to strengthen himself. But the Luna position was already reserved for someone he called Sally."

I smiled sheepishly.

"I'm sorry, Pasha." I said. "That 'someone' is me."

Pasha frowned at me.

"But if you're Luna, what are you doing in the dungeon?"

I shrugged.

"No one asked me if I wanted to be Luna. Alpha Richard invaded my pack, killed my mate and brought me back here. I tried to escape and well... You probably saw what happened after that."

I covered my face with my hands and desperately tried to stop myself from crying again.

"I'm sorry." Pasha whispered.

I looked up with a confused frown on my face.

"What are you sorry about?" I asked.

"When Alpha Richard told me that he had already chosen a Luna, I was devastated." She admitted. "I hated you for taking my mate away from me. I hoped that he would change his mind. But now that you are here I realize that even if he had chosen you as his Luna, you haven't chosen to be a Luna."

I shrugged.

"No I really didn't. I don't want to be here and I definitely don't want to be mated to Alpha Richard. I already have a mate and I don't want another one!"

Pasha frowned.

"I don't understand why he would go to such great lengths to get you here."

I rubbed my forehead tiredly.

"The only thing he has said is that he wants me to be Luna because of my past. I was a blacklisted Rogue. But I never did what I was accused of and my former Alpha also removed my name from the Blacklist. He thinks that I'm some badass girl that killed an Alpha. But I can barely swat a fly."

Pasha sighed.

"This is bad." She whispered. "What are we going to do?"

Before I could answer, a guard approached us with trays of food that he put down outside the cell doors.

I sat down and nibbled on a carrot from the tray while silently praying that Nick had succeeded with his mission.

Alpha Richard POV

My thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door to my office.

"Come in." I muttered.

Nick, my Gamma, walked in and bowed.

"Alpha." He said. "I bring news from the border.

I perked up immediately.

"Go on."

Nick cleared his throat.

"The Blue Eclipse mutts have gathered forces by the southern border." He explained.

I frowned.

"Do you think they plan to invade?"

Nick shrugged.

"The way I see it, Alpha, they could play this in two different ways." He said. "Either they retaliate in an attempt to get Sally back, or they are fortifying the defenses if they think that we would attack them again."

I was silent for a moment, letting the options sink in.

"What do you think they are going to do?" I asked Nick.

Nick pursed his lips.

"I don't think Alpha Jordan would risk his entire pack to save a blacklisted girl that joined them a few days ago." He mumbled. "But it's hard to tell. Apparently, not only Alpha Jordan, but his Beta and Gamma had been seen, along with the top warriors. Why would they be there if they aren't going to launch an attack?"

Nick took a step forward.

"What are the orders, Alpha?" He asked.

My mind was reeling. There were a lot of things we didn't know about their plans, but we had to do something. Not making a decision here would just make me seem hesitant and no matter what, an Alpha does not hesitate.

"Increase security at the border. Let's get ready for them." I said. "But let the main part of the army stay near the packhouse. Let them wander in here and then cut off their way out."

Nick nodded.

"Yes Alpha."

He hesitated before he spoke again.

"And what about the young Luna, Alpha?"

I smirked and pulled out a syringe.

"Give her this and let her stay in the dungeon. If we're attacked, they would never believe that I've been keeping her there."

"Wise choice, Alpha." Nick agreed.

"And keep me posted on the development at the border." I added.

Nick nodded before he left the office.

I turned to the window and looked out over the pack lands.

If those hippies thought that they could show up here and face no resistance, they were about to be disappointed.

The Midnight pack were known for their fierce fighters, and after we had crushed their defenses to dust, their sorry excuse for a pack would be mine.
