The Billionaire Daddies -
60. Painful Awakening
Babies, all wrinkly and pink
Too adorable and loveable
Not when they're pushing their way out
Nope, definitely not cute at all
- Jacqueline
Months passed easily and I started panicking when my due date was getting near. I was cautious. Ella's and Brice's wedding party was the day after tomorrow, I was getting heavier and hornier. I was like a horny sea lion I couldn't wait to get into bed with my two very attractive and attentive husbands.
My pregnancy was two months ahead of Ella's and with twins in my belly I was already warned by my doctor not to be too active since it might induce labor. She wanted the babies to arrive healthily and on time rather than earlier. You'd think that when my doctor told me so I'd listened right? wrong, I didn't, and I didn't tell my husbands either until it all came to bite me in the ass. Because honestly, I was so ready to get the babies out of my belly. Instead of walking, I've been wobbling, and I've been sleeping on my side a lot, and my back hurts, and my feet were swollen.
Silas was with me when I felt it. We were having our usual afternoon tea when I felt the first contraction. The cramping was way worse than the last scare I had when my dad shot himself in front of me in a crowded restaurant. "Oh, God... Silas, oh God..."
"Breathe, Jacqueline, breathe..." he was to my side when I stood up feeling the need to stretch my back. Silas took my wrist feeling my pulse while keeping his eyes on his wristwatch. At the same time, he frantically opens his colorful organizer and then looks at his calendar. "Okay, this may be nothing, but I'm counting your contraction."
I nodded, wincing from the pain. "Bed... I need my bed..." I was about to walk to the master bedroom when he stopped me.
"Sofa," he shook his head and kept his eyes on his watch. "It's closer to the door, we need to be ready."
"What? no way, I still have at least another week, and I still need to get to Ella's wedding party."
"Breathe," he said when I started to panic and that's when my water broke.
"Oh fuck... fuck... this is happening, SILAS! my husbands. Call them, they need to do stuff! I'm not doing this on my own!"
"Breathe, I have them on speed dial. I'm calling them, putting Percy first on speaker, okay? Now put your hands on the back of the sofa and stay calm, and breathe with me."
I gotta hand it to him, he was so freaking calm that his demeanor made me relax a little and breathe with his instructions. In and out and in and out. Repeatedly, until he had Percy on the other line.
He finally showed his panicked side when he cracked and opened his conversation without even greeting his boss. "Jacqueline's water broke, do you want to call Grady? or should I?"
"Oh, God, go! Go to the hospital
You know where her hospital bag is. Get it and go now, we'll see you at the hospital. I'm calling Grady and Dr. Mallory."
"Sir, you're on speaker," Silas reminded Percy and he was telling me to go to the hospital with Silas.
"I'll get Grady, I'm on my way now, Princess, we'll see you in the hospital. We love you, we'll see you soon." He didn't give me the chance to retaliate, I was so ready to send out a bunch of curses but I was stuck with the pain and the freaking breathing stuff.
I watched Silas run to the master bedroom and got my hospital bag, well, it was my Louis Vuitton Keepall with all of my overnight hospital stay necessities and a few baby clothes in it.
It took Silas an impressive time in less than a minute to be at my side again and then back to looking at his watch. He helped me change into fresh clothes and underwear, I was too much in pain to even care about being proper in front of my husband's employee.
"Breathe in... breathe out, come on, the driver is ready."
I let Silas carefully guide me to the front door after he hurriedly placed mats over the wet floor leaving it for the maid to clean.
"Can I be the first non-family to know the names of the baby boys now?" he asked the moment we sat in the car.
"Honestly? I'm still indecisive, either I go with Logan and Hudson or I go with the usual twin stuff like Wyatt and Rhett or Zane and Zeke." I know Silas was trying to keep my mind off the labor but the contraction was going on strong and I feel like I really need to do a number two.
"I like Logan and Hudson, it's like a separate identity and those are strong male names. They would grow up just like their dads."
"Yeah?" I smiled while huffing and puffing and trying to not fart in the car. This was not explained in the pregnancy books.
"Whatever your final decision, you will know once you see them." Silas took my hand and kissed my knuckles, making huffed and puff with tears in my eyes. Okay, the books also didn't mention suffocation from emotions. I was happy, excited, terrified, and out of sorts at the same time.
When we arrived at the hospital we were greeted by one of Dr. Mallory's nurses from her clinic, I recognized her right away. She's always been my favorite one.
"Jacqueline, how are you today? excited for the big day?"
"I can't wait to see them," I told her honestly, I still don't know if I could handle one baby let alone two but I wanted them. They're Grady's and Percy's I couldn't wait to see the mini versions of us.
"Oh..." I was back to breathing in and out again. Silas was to my side carrying my bag when the young nurse, Wanda, helped me to sit in the wheelchair.
Percy and Grady arrived fifteen minutes later. I needed them, and I quickly basked in their warmth when they hugged me. I tensed in their hold when the contraction started again.
Grady let me go to talk to Silas, and Percy holds me while I squeeze his hands from the pain, It was better with him holding me and caressing my back.
"Dr. Mallory had already seen Jacqueline, she's in the early stages of labor. Four centimeters, it could take from six to eight hours. Sometimes even sooner. I'm going to call her, she told me to call her when you're both here." Silas excused himself from the room and call my doctor.
I was tired, I wanted to lay down but was told not to because it could slow down the labor process. Gravity works best, my doctor said. I nodded painfully thinking and accusing her that she hadn't been in my position. Though she did tell me to move positions, I could rest but not for long, nurse Wanda helped by showing me how to prop my body, how to lay on the bed and lift my leg, lean forward, on my side, and all kinds of positions I know I had read in my pregnancy books. But the best thing was when Wanda told Percy to slow dance with me and keep my body moving while holding me by my waists.
Grady took over from Percy when he also wanted to comfort me and ease the pain. By this point, I was not sure she was my favorite nurse anymore. I didn't want to keep on changing positions, I want to curl in bed with my husband on either side of me.
"We're going to take a break after this, I need to recuperate before deciding to have another baby. I wasn't expecting to be... ohh... oh... nghh..." Grady kissed my forehead and hold my body, taking in my whale-like body weight and soothing the ache on my back.
Seven hours later after going back and forth to the bathroom, I kept on convincing Wanda I need to go before I shit my pants but there was nothing, not even a fart. Huh...
Silas refused to go home and Silvia had come and brought all of us comfort food and coffee lots and lots of coffee. While I kept on hydrating myself with water.
And by hour eight Wanda checked my opening and I was declared ready to push. I was moved to another room where Dr. Mallory greeted me, already suited for the job, hands were gloved, mask and protective gown were on. There was a team of nurses and pediatricians in the room, one for each baby. Grady and Percy were to my side holding my hands both were also prepped with masks, gloves, and protective gowns.
The babies' hearts were monitored. Dr. Mallory was between my legs when the sudden contraction was back in full force. I kept my eyes on my husband and focus on hearing their soothing voice until I heard Dr. Mallory telling me to push. Two hours later, I was sweaty, tired, and ready to give up when Dr. Mallory told me to give it one last push. And I did, and within seconds the first baby cry was heard then five minutes later another baby cry was heard even louder than before. And Silas was right, I knew the babies names when I saw them. Well, in this case when I heard them. Grady was holding the first baby after the pediatrician checked on him, and Percy was holding the little brother. Both men kissed my damp forehead and told me that they love me.
I could practically hear the nurses swooning while they slowly left the room and Dr. Mallory was the last to leave. "Wanda will be here to escort you back to your room. You deserved to rest, you've done a very good job. I'll check up on you tomorrow after you have a good rest." She nodded and smiled before she left the room.
That early morning I cuddled my babies to my chest and took them to latch on my nipples, just like Wanda taught me moments earlier. "Hello Logan, and hello Hudson," I smiled at the loudest and last baby to arrive, and as if Hudson understood me the infant smirked while his eyes were still closed. I giggled but then it was Logan's turn to blindly kick his brother's leg as if he also wanted my attention.
"Okay pausing seemed good," Grady kissed my temple. "I think these two will keep us busy for a while."
Percy kissed my other temple and told me that he agreed. "We love you, Jacqueline, rest now, mom, it's our turn to stay up."
I let them prop the babies to my breast, let the babies have their feed and I must've fallen asleep cause when I woke up the babies were in the clear hospital cribs while their daddies were asleep on their sides. I smiled at the view and fell back to sleep, thinking that it was my happy ending.
