The Billionaire Daddies -
58. Friendly Gesture
New friend, new bond People will surprise you
the moment they stepped up when they're needed -Jacqueline
By Wednesday it was Silas' turn to babysit me, he worked from Percy's office while going back and forth looming over me, watching me roam the house, making sure he knew and report back to Percy should I start meddling on the renovation. The nursery was done, now it was the adjoining bathroom that was having a makeover with baby blue clouds and pastel-colored cartoony animals under them. Yes, we were having two boys, both of my husbands were pleased with any gender but they couldn't be happier knowing that we're starting our family with two little boys.
"I'm bored, do you want to go out and get some baby stuff? And a very big lunch?" I asked after Silas was done typing on his laptop. He smiled and was picking up his Prada messenger bag putting in his tablet and thick color-coded organizer inside.
"Alright, I'll call the driver while you go get changed."
I smiled and was walking to the master bedroom when my phone buzzed. It was Remy and my smile grew wider.
"My sweetest Remy, how are you?"
"Jacqueline, I'm good, I'm in town. How is the mother-to-be?"
"I'm getting bigger, sometimes bloated, I feel like I'm ready to float." I exhaled and Remy laughed.
"Anyway, I'm going shopping then lunch, how bout we meet up and you tell me about the wild sex you've been having with your man."
I didn't know his situation, the last time we talked, things were not great. But I know those two will patch things up and have the greatest makeup sex that'll make me envy.
"Change of plans, we will shop then meet up with Remy for lunch. You can go back to the office if you're busy I have someone with me for the rest of the afternoon." I said walking out of the master bedroom dressed in my sexy designer maternity dress and a pair of Gucci flats, my tiny purse holds my phone, black card, and some cash for small payments.
My billionaire husbands made sure that I was settled financially and I haven't touched my personal bank accounts in months since I married them.
"Nope, I'm going with you, bosses' orders."
"Okay then, let's go." I walked towards him and he was to my side talking about new stuff that he saw online that he told me I would need for the twins growing cozily in my tummy.
Three hours and dozens of baby stuff arranged to be sent to the house later, we were walking into the high-end restaurant that serves the most delicious Italian cuisine in town. Remy was already there and he greeted me and Silas with a smile on his face.
"Remy, this is Silas, Percy's PA, my guardian angel for the day." Remy shook his hand and then sat back in his seat.
"Silas, this is Remy, my BFF who's in town for god knows how long."
Silas smiled at him and took his seat by my side. "I hope you don't mind me joining in with you. Though I can sit at another table and keep myself busy if you need privacy?"
"No, it's okay, we can speak privately later. We're here for lunch." Remy surprised me when he subtly checked out Silas from head to toe, then his gaze stayed seconds too long showing off his interest in the man. I've grown close to Remy and spent hours with him vacationing with Ghazi, being their third wheel. I knew how he looked at guys and the way he looked at Silas, it was a look of interest, and I nudged my knee under the table and made him look at me, while Silas was oblivious and as he read the menu and exclude himself from our silent conversation.
The waiter came and we ordered the restaurant's specials, Remy ordered wine for himself while Silas and I ordered fresh lemon water and decaf for our dessert along with the restaurant's famous tiramisu dessert.
"I'm sorry, things have been... rough." Remy's shoulder sagged and I instinctively put my hand on his forearm.
"I thought you patched things up with him?"
"I did, well, at least I thought I did..." suddenly the man looked like he aged ten years just before my eyes, but the emotional exhaustion was there and I entwined my fingers with his and kissed his knuckles. The gesture must've made Silas feel like he was interrupting something that he excused himself to the men's room.
"Can we talk about this later? I really don't want to ruin your appetite and I don't think the cute assistant would want to see me crying over his meal."
"He's straight, has a girlfriend."
"Huh, really?" Remy replied with questioning eyes, confirming what I had thought when I first saw Silas.
"Right? that's what I thought also, maybe my gaydar is broken..."
"Or, he hadn't realized that he is special." Remy smiled softly. It was the kind of smile that draws Ghazi to him the first time they met. I knew it because I witnessed it. I'd dare say that Ghazi was struck, lust at first sight hearts cartoon eyes right there and then.
Lunch went perfectly and we went back to the house afterward. It was Remy's first time visiting the house, I decided to give him a grand tour while he shared his feelings. I didn't think it was that bad, I hoped things would turn out for the better. He cried and I let him shed his tears while I hugged him and told him to let it all out.
His eyes were still red when we reached the living room and Silas looked at me accusingly, it was almost comical. "What did you do, Jacqueline?"
My eyes couldn't believe his mothering nature when the lithe man walked towards us and put his hand on Remy's then guided him to the kitchen. My bestie looked at me with a raised brow but followed the sharp-dressed assistant to the kitchen where he was already pouring tea, looking like he knows what he was doing as if it was his kitchen.
"I'm okay," Remy stated as he stood by the large kitchen island.
"Let's just say I believed you, but a cup of tea won't make you feel worse than you already are right now."
I joined them in the kitchen and Silas poured another cup for me, and just like that Remy was in tears again.
"Oh God, I'm such a mess." He put his cup and I was about to reach him but Silas put his hand on Remy's as if they've known each other for years.
"You're not, whatever your problem is, know that people out there had been through worse and they survived. You just need to be strong."
"Right, um... maybe I should go," Remy said minutes after he was done drinking his tea.
"No, you stay, my hours are up. You should be here and let Jacqueline cheer you up before you go back."
Remy looked at Silas, then he nodded. The man stiffened for a couple of seconds when the usually preppy assistant gave a serious expression and then pulled Remy in for a hug. I was surprised and if my dearest friend felt the same way, he was keeping it cool.
Though Remy finally opened his mouth when Silas left the house and told me that he'll see me on Friday.
"Um, what just happened?" Remy asked as he followed me to the living room sofa
"Silas is being Silas, I guessed. I'm still figuring him out, aside from his obsession with color-coded scheduling, he's now monitoring my babies' needs, the man checklist baby stuff like he's a doomsday prepers. Other than that I don't know much about him. Oo... oh, you like him don't you?" I shook my head telling him that it was a bad idea.
"Ghazi will be devastated, and anyway the man is straight," I explained hoping to shift his thought to Ghazi instead. Yes, I was rooting for the couple.
"I don't know Ghazi anymore, Jacqueline. One moment his affectionate then the next moment it felt like he couldn't wait to get rid of me." "Oh, Remy, do you want me to talk to him?"
"I don't know Jacqueline, I don't even know if I still have a fighting chance. I glimpsed at his text message last night. Fuck, I know I shouldn't do it but it was an incoming text notification. I didn't even open it. But he was gone and I know who he was meeting."
I didn't know what to say to him, for once I was silenced. Maybe Ghazi had a reason, maybe the text meant something else. Though I didn't know the situation, I still couldn't believe that Ghazi might hurt Remy, intentionally. I truly think that they were soulmates, with husbands type of future besides whatever Ghazi's dark criminal world was like.
Remy left the house an hour later, just as my phone buzzed letting me know that my husbands were on their way back from work. By the time Remy left I know that he still has a dark cloud hanging over him, his relationship was clinging on the edge, and ready to fall to pieces. According to Remy.
I wished otherwise, I wished the best for my Remy, I wished Ghazi would love him more and show him that the man was ridiculous to even entertain the idea that he was with someone else.
