The Apple of My Eye -
Chapter 1568 I am the Law
Sheryl was confused. But there was a part of her that was certain she knew this mysterious man. She racked her brain yet couldn't quite put her finger on it. Blindfolded, she lost track of time. The car finally stopped after what felt like an eternity.
Someone used their strong hands to slide off the black cloth from her eyes.
Anxiously, she opened her eyes. In front of her was a big mansion. She looked around to see if she had some idea where this place was, but to no avail. "Stop looking around. Get inside!" The man with a mask nudged her and she was compelled to walk.
The mansion's door swung open and a man stood staring at her.
'Is it him?
That's impossible!
I thought he was in jail.
How come he is here?' Sheryl couldn't believe her eyes. Sheryl continued to stare at Ferry in surprise. This man was as evil as a demon. She couldn't fathom why he was released. 'What the hell were the police thinking? Ferry had committed a serious crime! How could they let this lunatic loose?' she said in her mind.
At this moment, Sheryl was feeling the mixed emotions of anger and confusion.
"Surprise! You didn't expect to see me, right?" Ferry said excitedly, which sounded extremely harsh to Sheryl's ears.
"Why are you here? What do you want from me?" She tried to calm herself down as she asked Ferry, who was sipping wine.
There was a look of relaxation in his demeanor. It seemed like he had all the time in the world and was in no hurry. With Sheryl at his disposal, his mind was put at ease. And he certainly didn't feel like wrapping this up without playing some games.
He hated her so much he wanted to torture her. He knew that suffering was much more painful than death.
He wanted Sheryl to live in pain. Only after he watched her suffer, his heart would be satisfied.
"Isn't that obvious? I came here to take revenge on you. Hahaha..." Ferry spread his hands as if he was talking about other people's affairs.
"You got what you deserved! There is no point in blaming me for your downfall. I didn't force you to do anything illegal!" Deep in her heart, Sheryl truly believed she hadn't done anything wrong to Ferry. If she had an opportunity to go back in time, she would still make the exact same decision.
"Sheryl, why do you speak in that tone? Do you think you are still the boss? Let me kindly remind you that Nick's fate is still in my hands!" Ferry decided it was time to shut Sheryl's blabbering. He hated to see the air of superiority she carried even in this situation.
Ferry hastily threw his wine glass away, shattering it into a million pieces. He pointed his fingers at Sheryl and yelled at her, "Let me warn you. If you dare to utter something annoying then Nick will have to pay for it!"
Sheryl remained silent for a few seconds as she could feel Ferry's anger. Yet the sharpness in her eyes hadn't reduced.
"But why are you bringing Nick into this? He has nothing to do with it! Let him go and deal with me!" Sheryl said. She meant it because she didn't want others to get involved in this fight. Nick was extremely important to her, hence the thought of him getting harmed frightened her.
"Why not? You don't get to tell me what to do! I can do whatever I want!" Ferry retorted back with a sneer. He was well aware of how much Nick meant to Sheryl. Otherwise, he wouldn't have gone through all this trouble to have him behind bars. Relief washed through his body as he realized his hard work had paid off.
The vicious smile on Ferry's face made Sheryl sick.
"What do I need to do to make you release Nick?" she asked, cutting to the chase. Deep down, she knew she would have to do something to save Nick. Ferry would never do something that was of no benefit to him.
Ferry walked closer to Sheryl now that she had agreed to make a compromise. He caressed his chin and said, "Well, I need time to think."
"Ferry, what sort of pleasure do you derive from torturing me? If you really hate me, come at me. Don't get others involved in this. That's not what a true man would do. You asshole!" Sheryl spat angrily. Even though she tried to look brave, she was on the verge of breaking down.
"Whoa, calm down, young lady. I've already come up with an idea. I don't know whether I will remember it if you keep babbling. The more you speak, the longer Nick will have to stay in jail," Ferry said indifferently.
Sheryl knew that Ferry was dodging her question on purpose. He wanted to delay it just so he could torture her more.
With no choice, she stared blankly at Ferry with her glazed eyes under her arched eyebrows, waiting eagerly for his answer.
After a few seconds, Ferry sneered at Sheryl and said, "Okay then, let me tell you what I want. I want you to leave Charles. If you do that, I will release Nick-as simple as that!"
"I thought you knew everything about me! I have already broken things off with Charles. So how about you leave Nick alone?" Sheryl knew that Ferry would be happy as long as she was having a hard time. Ferry put his hands behind his back. With a sigh, he said, "I don't call that a separation. I want you to leave him for real. You need to divorce Charles. Not only that, I want you to marry another man just so I am sure there is no room for reconciliation. That is what I would call a real separation." Ferry let out a vicious smile knowing the impact his words had on Sheryl.
Sheryl thought Ferry must have lost his mind.
A feeling of utter shock went through her body after she heard his proposal. In order to get a reaction out of her, he walked toward the TV and played a video for her. He snapped his finger to catch her attention and said, "Check this out. Maybe this will quicken your decision making process."
Ferry's words caught Sheryl's attention.
She looked at the video.
As she took in the scene, her eyes bulged with shock.
"Wh-what are you doing? Let go of me!" It was Nick. He was yelling painfully which was heartbreaking for Sheryl to hear.
A couple of men were beating the shit out of Nick.
It seemed like their boss told them he wouldn't be satisfied until Nick was brutally hurt. Sheryl had never witnessed such an awful sight before. He was being beaten to a pulp.
Within a few minutes, blood was splattered all across Nick's face and clothes. His face was so swollen that people wouldn't even recognize him.
Sheryl felt like as if a knife was piercing her heart. She covered her mouth but Ferry heard her muffled cries.
"Ah! Help me!" Nick shouted helplessly.
Then Sheryl saw Cassie. The situation wasn't any better for Cassie. Women in prison were handled ruthlessly as well. Her face was severely bruised. Now Cassie's pretty face had turned into a mess.
Cassie's tears and crying made Sheryl shiver. Sheryl couldn't help but feel guilty. She felt responsible for the pain these two people had to go through.
"Enough! Ferry, what do you want from me?" Tears kept falling down Sheryl's face. The video continued playing, but Sheryl turned her face because she couldn't put up with it anymore. She yelled at Ferry, "It's illegal! You should all go to jail!"
"Illegal?" Ferry shot a glance at Sheryl and started to laugh as if it was the funniest joke he had ever heard.
"Sheryl, don't you understand? I am the law!" Ferry glared at Sheryl. A grin appeared on his face when he realized she was truly scared now. He continued, "Do you think I will let you off the hook this time? I swore to God that I would have my revenge once I got released from jail. And I won't stop until everyone pays for what they have done."
Sheryl heard Ferry clearly, word by word.
Ferry was a vindictive person. And people who had the audacity to mess with him usually came to a bad end.
Sheryl managed to compose herself when Ferry turned off the video.
"You are not going to divorce Charles, are you?" Ferry lowered his voice.
Sheryl just stared at Ferry, not saying a single word. Ferry took her silence as a yes.
He knew that Sheryl wouldn't accept his offer.
"If you don't want a divorce, then fine!" Ferry smiled at Sheryl which confused her.
She wondered what more he had in store. This man was full of dirty tricks.
