The Alpha's Unwanted Mate -
The Alpha’s Unwanted Mate Chapter 133 Book 2 Chapter 65
Celeste sat on the cold floor, not able to eat a thing, she could hear the noise outside, the growls that sounded so much like screams, the paws that scraped like sharp knives against the dirt…
She could hear it all despite the hands that covered her ears. Her sister was out there, her mate, her father and all her friends, and the worry within her would not die.
Her heart felt like it was beating in her head, it kept hammering, every beat felt like it would kill her. She had a bad feeling about this, her hands kept shaking, her lips too and tears wouldn’t stop running down her eyes.
She hated this…she knew people were dying and that was the last thing she wanted. Her eyes kept glancing down at the keys in her lap, she wanted to go outside, she was a Luna, she didn’t want to just sit back while everyone died…she’s suppose to help and this duty that Xavier and Zillon had bestowed upon her was not considered helping…
Sitiing back and crying was not what a fighter did, a fighter fought, and though she couldn’t do much, she wanted to at least do something…
But Zillon told her to stay inside, he made her promise she would…they said they’d be back, they both promised that they’d come back…
So why was she worrying?
Why couldn’t she believe?
Perhaps because Celeste knew that this battle wouldn’t be a fair one…the alpha king had the upper hand and Zillon he had…he practically had nothing but the will to protect…
He was fighting for a cause…but will that be enough…?
Celeste wasn’t sure, but she could hope…that’s all she could do for now.
Wiping her eyes, she grabbed the keys, then turned towards the other people who were inside, their faces showing the same horror as hers…they kept whispering words that held no confidence, words that displayed the fact that they were scared. Nobody touched the food or the water and some of the kids were crying for their father’s…
Celeste pitied them, for she knew that a half —if not all— of their dads would not make it back alive. Then was when they’d really cry…
Standing to her feet, she walked over to where they were lined out. “Is anybody thirsty? Does any of you want food?”
The kids shook theirs heads, a choir of no booming against her ears. “Then what do you guys want?”
Everybody kept quiet until a little girl held up her hand. “I want daddy.”
“But daddy is o—”
“I want daddy too…mom said he might not come back, mom sa—”
“Michael stop!”
The child sniffled, hiding his face in his arms. “I’m sorry mom…”
“It’s okay, sweetie…come here…”
Reluctantly, he stood to his feet and walk over to his mother, the other kids watching with pitiful eyes as he did so. They all probably wanted their father too…poor little things.
Celeste held her stomach, she wondered if her babies missed their father too, Zillon spoke to them every night before bed.
Perhaps he could speak to them when he made it back tonight, perhaps he coul—
Celeste’s hand moved from her stomach to hold her chest, the other one grabbing onto the wall for support..
What was this?
This pain…
This…
Celeste whimpered, almost falling to her knees when the pain rose to a high heights. It was the matebond, tearing painfully at her heart, she could feel as it clashed like a sword through her chest…
But why…?
What was going on?
Was there something wrong with Zillon?
What was happening out there?
Celeste gripped the key in her hand tighter, her weak legs staggering back over to the steps that lead to the door…she looked towards the people she was told to protect, her words sounding breathless as she spoke. “I can’t stay any longer…I…I…somebody follow me up and take the key to close the door after I leave.”
“Luna y-you can’t g—”
“I have to…” Tears glossed over Celeste’s eyes again as she climbed up the stairs as fast as she could. Her fingers shook as she opened up the door and when she realized no one followed her up, she dropped the key inside and closed the door upon reaching outside.
Her breaths were heavy as she crouched, her eyes fixated on the moon above her head. Goddess did she hope everything was fine…
Along with the crack of her bones, came beautiful white fur that covered her human skin… her hands turned into paws and into the direction of the noise she ran…
Soon her eyes could witness what they never had before…b***d; so much b***d…bodies laid flat against the floor, some hardly recognizable. Celeste’s eyes wandered over them all and then to the wolves who were still fighting, she couldn’t comprehend a thing…she didn’t know who was winning and who was losing, she was confused, but when the only dark gray coloured wolf on the field greeted her eyes, her heartbeat seemed to slow to a stop…
Her front legs shook as she stepped forward, her heart and her whole body trembling… Zillon was laid in a puddle of b***d, his breathing so heavy that she could see the contraction of his body from where she stood…
A black wolf hovered over him, big and strong and somehow Celeste felt no fear for him when she ran like a mad wolf over to him. The only fear she felt at the moment was fear for Zillon…fear for his life.
Her little body shoved against his, barely able to push him off, but somehow she managed, her eyes zooming in on Zillon and on nothing else…
He looked towards her…orange eyes barely open as a whimper so painfilled left his lips.
Celeste whimpered again, the pain in her chest once again making itself known…
Why was he laying on the floor?
Why was he gasping so hard for breath?
Why was he bleeding?!
Wasn’t he the one who promised he’d be back?
Wasn’t he the one who promised she’d see him again?!
Celeste would’ve been crying if she was in human form…so instead she did the only thing she could; whimper like a wolf in pain…
