The Alpha’s Mute Mate
Episode 17

DAISY

That’s strange. Why won’t Brooke open the door to me? I could feel her sitting right behind the door. I could tell something was wrong. I should have broken the door down, but that would have made her more scared of me.

I left her alone and walked down the corridor, taking the stairs and heading into the lounge, but I turned the corner to the dining room, where Kelsey and Hudson sat by the table. Hudson told me what Alpha Josh said, and he had to entertain Kelsey till Alpha Josh and her mate Todd came. All I know is that they are on their way.

He looks at me; I can sense his anger through him.

“Where is Brooke?” he says through the mind link.

I can’t help but look annoyed. I look at Kelsey, who doesn’t care that I’m in the room. Anyone can see what she is doing to him. She was grouping him under the table in full view of everyone.

“She won’t come down. Are you enjoying yourself there? She’s getting frisky,” I said, but I received a snarl back. “She needs to f**k off now, Asher is pissed, and I’m having trouble controlling him as it is.”

“Why would Asher be pissed?” I asked.

He g****s, making me look at them. Kelsey had now gone under the table, and she was trying to suck him off. Hudson’s face is red; you can tell he doesn’t want anything to do with her.

“HE WANTS HER OFF ME NOW,” he snarls loudly through the mind link, which startles me.

I shut the mind link down and opened a new one for Rex, my mate.

“Rex Baby, Hudson needs help now. Kelsey is trying to suck him off,” I said with a hint of sarcasm.

Rex is down the stairs within a few seconds, staring at Hudson, but gets Asher’s eyes instead. His wolf is pissed. But something set Asher looking in a different direction, and I followed his direction; and there stood rooted to the spot was Brooke, her face looking at the sight. Hudson closes his eyes and opens them; he meets Brooke’s eyes.

Brooke turns away from him and goes out through the door.

Brooke doesn’t look right, she never had a black eye, and I am sure I can see more pain in her eyes.

What the hell happened when I left her?

“Daisy, stop her,” Hudson snaps in my head, taking me out of staring at the open door that Brooke just ran through. I stared back at my brother now, who had forced Kelsey off. She looks pissed and stares at the door that Brooke ran from.

He is growling, furious.

I ignore him.

I turned and ran in the direction of where Brooke ran too. But when I got outside, she had vanished, nowhere to be found. Rex comes behind me. “Where the hell has she gone?” he asks, looking around everywhere.

I try to hear her heartbeat or something but can’t hear it. It is like she has disappeared into thin air.

“I think Kelsey went to Brooke or had something to do with this?” I snarled and headed back the way we came. Kelsey is still bugging my brother; I have had enough of this b***h.

I grabbed her by the hair and threw her onto the table, which she hit with her back. “Please don’t, I’m pregnant,” she says with a cry.

I growl loudly, making my father, mother, Jackson, Alanna, Beta Logan, and Lesley come out to find out what the hell is going on. When they approach, they watch me stoke Kelsey as if she is my prey, and I don’t care. She looks scared.

“What is the meaning of this, Daisy?” snaps my father, who is pissed, but I can’t tell if it is with Kelsey or me.

“This b***h pushed me onto the table,” she snaps, but I step closer, making her more scared of me.

“I don’t give a f**k. What the hell did you do to Brooke?” I snapped at her. Her mouth closes, and she glares at me.

“I know you did something; she didn’t have a black eye when she came here, so it must have been you. She was looking at you when she came downstairs,” I growled, but there was a louder growl behind me which I knew my brother.

“WHAT THE f**k DID YOU DO TO MY MATE?” He shouts, but I look back to see him being held back by Rex, Jackson, and my father. If they let him go, she will most likely be ripped apart.

I step forward. “We had best find Brooke, or I will…….” but I’m interrupted by a deep voice behind me.

“YOU WILL DO WHAT TO MY MATE,” he snarls.

I spun around to see a tall man who looked like the beast from something you would find in an underground fighting ring.

He steps closer to me, but he is not looking at me. He was looking straight at Kelsey. I turned my head over my shoulder to see Kelsey looking white. She might even pass out from shock. “How are you here? I thought……” she says, stumbling over her words.

“You thought wrong, little mate,” he says with gritted teeth. “I was happy to find my brother knew where you were and where to find you, as you have been running from me since I marked you. I have felt every dirty deed you have done with others,” He growls loudly. “That baby better be mine, or you will find when it’s born I will rip you both apart if it’s not,” he snarls and stokes Kelsey like she’s his prey.

I smirk, but he looks at me.

“What would you do to my mate?” he says. I look at him, but my brother steps in front of me, holding me behind him.

“Your mate punched my mate. She has been claiming that I’m that child’s father. I only touched her once, and ever since, I have never been with another she-wolf because they might have mates out there,” he says. “My mate has run off for whatever reason your mate has said and done to her. She is human and fragile as we rescued…….” but before Hudson could finish.

The man stops him. “I think your mate is with my brother; we found her running in the forest. She was scared, so he was trying to calm her down.”

Without warning, Hudson runs off, and I follow after him, leaving the man to deal with his mate.

We run, but we stop in our tracks at Alpha Josh strolling with Brooke. She looks up at us. “I don’t think she can understand me,” he says, slightly confused and concerned.

I ran down the steps to them, leaving Hudson rooted to the spot. “She can understand you; she just can’t talk,” I said. Brooke looks up at me and mouths, “Thank you.”

Brooke lets go of Alpha Josh and runs into my arms. We hug, but I keep my hand around her; I want to make sure she is safe.

“Ah, I see. How come she can’t talk?” asks Alpha Josh, but he was met with a loud growl from Hudson.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to pry…..we saw her running in that direction,” he says, pointing. I looked at the direction she went in; no wonder we couldn’t sniff her out. That part of the forest is full of wildflowers. They mess with even the best werewolves’ senses.

I look at Brooke, who is now looking at Hudson. He is standing there like a lemon, Alpha Josh stands back amazed, but suddenly we hear a loud piercing scream coming from the house and Kelsey running towards Hudson.

The man from earlier came out and was running after her. “Come back here, you little b***h” he snaps.

Hudson moves away from her, but Kelsey runs straight into Alpha Josh’s arms. He holds her there in place and smirks. “Do you know what you have done, you stupid little b***h? You have upset my brother. He will punish you.”

“Give her back, brother,” says the man.

Hudson is watching them both, but Brooke, who has stood beside me with my arm around her waist, starts to shake violently. I held her close to me.

Kelsey shakes violently in Alpha Josh’s arms as the man who is her mate comes closer to her; she screams. “They told me about her,” she says, suddenly pointing directly at Brooke.

“What do you mean?” shouts Hudson. “Who told you about her?”

She looks at him. “I will only talk to you, no one else,” she says with a shaky voice.

“No, you will speak now, or I will have your mate take you to the cells where he can punish you however he sees fit,” he says with a snarl. “Tell me, who told you about her?”

He’s pissed, and I could sense Asher was on the verge of coming out. Brooke is rooted to the spot.

“Tell him mate, or I will drag it out of you myself,” her mate says through gritted teeth.

“Todd, please, no,” she says, begging.

“Tell Alpha Hudson what he needs to know now, or I will make your life a living hell, as well as my brother will,” snarls Alpha Josh in her ear.

Jackson is now standing at the bottom of the steps, looking back at Kelsey, watching everything unfold.

Kelsey looked around. She notices a crowd, her attitude changes, and she starts laughing. “All this because of her; they want her. She was theirs, not yours, and they will come for her.”

“WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?” shouts Hudson.

Kelsey looks at him. “Why her?” she says, pointing to Brooke. “She is nothing but a human; she can’t give you what I can.”

There was a loud growl coming from Todd, and he surely knew what she was like.

Kelsey looks back and smirks. “Madison likes to run her mouth off about everything,” she says. “Aubrey made a deal with a rogue to have her. She made loads of deals with them,” she says, but she turns her attention to Jackson and smirks. “The rogue in question is the one who killed your first mate and nearly killed her. He wants his prize back.” Jackson growls, but Kelsey roars back. “Nope, old man, there are a few things more you never knew. Aubrey is that rogue’s mate; she enjoyed torturing her endlessly,” she says with an evil grin. “She made her weak, and he wanted her that way. He was shocked to see a small little human survive a vicious attack, so he wanted her. He arranged with his mate, but you were too weak to look after her. He sent his mate to become yours. The rogue wants her back, and he will do anything to get his prize back.”

We glared at her, but the person by my side shook uncontrollably.

I turned to look at Brooke, and she went pale.

But something is different about her. She looks like herself, but her scent’s different.

Suddenly, she closes her eyes but opens them, but her eyes are now entirely black.

She slowly moves away from me and walks toward Kelsey. Kelsey looks stunned, but when Brooke comes closer to her, fear takes over.

Nobody moves, as we are all rooted to the spot.

Brooke stands in front of Kelsey and opens her mouth. “You threatened my human,” she says.

Kelsey stutters, “What are you?”

Brooke smirks. “I am someone who has been trying to get out since that night,” she says to Kelsey.

Brooke turns to Todd, “Take your mate away, or I will kill her for harming my human.”

Todd doesn’t say anything but nods to her. He grabs Kelsey and takes her to the cells, but Kelsey moves away. Screaming at him, but he didn’t give in, he even threw her over his shoulder.

The rest of us are all rooted to the spot looking at Brooke. Brooke looks at all of us individually.

How the hell?

What the hell?

I don’t know whether I should be afraid or not.
