Sweet Twins Indulge in Daddy's Love
Chapter 406 Affection

Derrick cherished his comfort and life above all else. He would never put his life in jeopardy for the TS Group.

But it was hard to tell how badly he was injured this time.

Just then, Charles's phone rang.

The call was from Frederic.

"How did grandpa hear of the news so soon?" Charles asked with a frown. He didn't want to enrage his grandpa for fear of aggravating his heart condition. Frederic would usually read financial newspapers in the early morning, so since when had it been a habit of him to browse mobile news?

Charles hastily got out of bed, his annoyance apparently visible. "Nancy, you should go downstairs to have breakfast with Bobby."

Grandpa must have called at this very moment just to scold him. It was better not to let the children hear such a fierce conversation between them.

"Okay." Nancy straightened her clothes and quietly walked out of the room, hand in hand with Bobby.

Charles answered the phone calmly. "Grandpa."

"Charles, what have you done to Derrick? I know you hate him, but nevertheless, he is still your uncle. How can you kill him without any regards to his life?" Frederic bellowed furiously before Charles could speak.

It was a fact that every parent loved their children, and Frederic was no exception.

No matter how old Derrick was, he would still remain

Frederic's son.

If something bad were to happen to Derrick, Frederic would have no way to live the rest of his life peacefully.

"I didn't do anything to him. Who informed you that something had happened to Derrick? And who told you that the car accident was in any way related to me?" Charles tried to make his voice as gentle as possible to avoid a tit for tat confrontation with grandpa and to pacify his agitation.

"How dare you say it has nothing to do with you? Well, even if I don't believe what Derrick told me, Joseph would not lie to me, would he? Alas... Charles, do you really want me to say it out loud? You bastard!" Frederic had always spoiled Charles and seldom scolded him in the past. But now, he was unleashing his fury on him

Earlier in the morning, he was woken up by Joseph's call.

Joseph was frantically crying, "Grandpa, my father went out to see you this morning, but he was involved in a car accident on the way. It was cause by my brother's bodyguard, Hiram. He is out to kill my father. Grandpa, you must help me."

This morning, while Joseph was sleeping, Derrick came in. He patted him on the shoulder and said, "Joseph, I'm going to the old mansion. Take good care of yourself. If you don't want to cook, just order takeout or go out to eat something."

It was a rare occasion for Derrick to care about him so much and Joseph felt moved. He opened his eyes and replied dutifully, "Okay, will do. Thank you, father."

Derrick tenderly stroked Joseph's hair and mumbled, "I know I have been too strict with you all these years, but you are my only son. Remember, you are everything to me. I love you."

Joseph's whole body went limp and numb by Frederic's words. If he hadn't heard it with his very own ears, he would find it hard to believe that Derrick would say such loving and kind words. Joseph was deeply touched and was almost moved to tears. He hurriedly replied, "Dad, I love you, too. Say hello to grandpa for me."

"Okay, I'm leaving now," Derrick responded and went out after saying that.

Joseph continued to catch up on his sleep.

However, not before long, he suddenly received a call from the traffic police.

It was said that Derrick was involved in a car accident and the culprit was none other than Hiram.

Joseph's mind was still in a blur. He confusedly asked with haste, "Which Hiram do you mean?"

"He is one of your brother's bodyguards. Come on. Your father's life is in critical condition and it is uncertain if he will make it."

Joseph's initial reaction was that Charles deliberately instructed Hiram to involve Derrick in a car accident in order to kill him. Without Derrick in the equation, Charles could then hold the reins of the TS Group firmly without any hindrance.

In his panic, Joseph called Frederic. He kept on wailing and complaining. As a consequence, Frederic blamed the car accident on Charles.

True enough, just as Charles had expected, he found himself unable to defend himself against the circumstantial evidence.

He was afraid that his grandpa would be enraged, so he continued to comfort and placate him, "Grandpa, don't worry. I will figure out what happened as soon as possible, and I will give you ample explanation. "Let me tell you, Charles, don't appease me with these useless words. You'd better restrain yourself. Don't ever hurt your uncle. If you kill him, I will not let you off, you bastard!" The more Frederic said, the angrier and more agitated he became. He coughed again.

"Grandpa, please calm yourself and don't be angry. Don't you still know what kind of person I am until now? We are still clueless as to what really happened. It's unfair for me that you are already putting the blame on me without any valid proof at all..." Before Charles could finish what he was saying, Frederic had already hung up the phone.

Frederic's voice was loud and angry throughout the call.

Angelina and Hardy stood at the door, both of them trembling with fear. They weren't aware yet of the accident that had happened in the early morning.

When they heard that Frederic had ended the call, they immediately pushed the door open and came in to check on him. The moment they came in, they saw that his hand had suddenly dropped and that his mobile phone was smashed to the floor.

"Dad, what's wrong with you?" Hardy was aware of Frederic having a heart problem.

"Oh, my God! Father is having a heart attack! What are you waiting for? Quick, send him to the hospital immediately!" Angelina hollered and ran out. She called in the driver and ordered him to bring Frederic to the hospital for emergency treatment in a hurry.

There was chaos everywhere.

Meanwhile, Charles was also having a hard time. He drove to the scene of the car accident to investigate further.

When he arrived, he realized how miserable the crash site was.

Hiram's body was covered with fresh blood, and

Derrick's driver had been declared dead on the spot by the doctor on site.

At that time, the firefighters just finished to saw the car apart and were lifting Derrick out of the car.

"Is he still alive?" Charles worriedly asked.

"I don't know yet. The most important thing now is to send him to the hospital to give him an extensive checkup," Hiram replied dejectedly in a low voice.

He himself was also confused by the incident. He was driving to the company as he normally did this morning. Somehow, his car suddenly stalled and stopped moving. Afterwards, all he could hear was a loud screeching of metals as a car behind him crashed his car.

Hiram's car stopped only after it had slid more than ten meters forward. When he got out of the car to check, he knew that the crash was rear-ended.

And judging from the crime scene alone, the full responsibility would be pinned on him.

What stunned him even more was that after the police came to check the identity of the people in the other car, they told him that the owner of the car was Derrick.

Till now, Hiram was still dazed and in a state of shock.

Why did the car stall unexpectedly?

This was too mysterious and bizarre. He had never heard of a similar instance happening in the past.

More coincidentally, his car was rear-ended by Derrick's. But seeing the tragic outcome of the accident, he couldn't be one hundred percent sure whether Derrick did it on purpose or not.

Since this was a matter involving life and death, he wouldn't dare risk his life, would he?

"Don't be nervous. We'll find out the truth soon enough. Are you hurt?" Charles comforted Hiram as he patted him on the shoulder.

All the while, Hiram was still in shock and he wasn't aware of his injury at all and didn't feel any pain. He didn't realize that his arm injured until he was patted by Charles.

"Ouch, it hurts..." He let out a cry.

"You are hurt?" Charles nervously probed.

He knew Hiram would never do anything against his will. More so, why would he take the initiative to provoke Derrick at such a critical moment?
