Sweet Twins Indulge in Daddy's Love -
Chapter 359 He Deserved All The Praise
Whether they were just pretending in front of the kids or they were being serious, Nancy's heart still throbbed.
She couldn't resist the charming look in Charles's eyes.
So Nancy said, "Yes, we never fought. We're good. Very good!"
The two kids smiled contently and continued to eat.
Nancy was still uneasy though, thinking, 'It's so late, and Edward still hasn't come back. Where did he go?'
Charles looked at Nancy's blank face and frowned slightly.
After tidying up, Nancy sat in the living room watching TV.
"Bobby, Nadia, do you guys want to play?" Charles asked.
"Uncle Edward likes building blocks with us. Can you do that, Daddy?" Bobby asked.
"Do you think Uncle Edward is better than me?" Charles asked unhappily.
In his eyes, the children were supposed to look up to him and he deserved all the praise. Edward deserved none of this recognition.
He always got jealous when the kids even mentioned Edward.
"Of course not. Our Daddy is awesome! Come on, Daddy, let's build blocks together!" Bobby said happily.
"Daddy, you and Bobby should race. Let's see who's better at building blocks. Daddy, come on!" Nadia ran over to him.
All of a sudden Bobby was a little nervous.
Nadia blinked her big eyes and ran to Bobby's side rapidly. "Bobby, let me cheer you on, okay?"
"Of course. That's more like it!" Bobby said proudly.
Charles took the children to the study.
He found the blocks and started to construct the castle.
Then Charles and Bobby began to have their race against each other.
"Nadia, what were you doing with Bobby when Mommy and daddy walked out of the bedroom?" Charles asked while placing the blocks.
Nadia looked at the blocks shyly and slowly said, "Bobby and I went to eavesdrop on you and Mommy."
Crashing to the floor, Bobby's castle collapsed.
It was so loud that Nadia almost jumped out of her skin
"I...I..." Nadia stammered, "We wanted to know if Mommy and Daddy were having dinner together."
Nancy had wandered upstairs by now. She got bored of the TV so she wanted to see what the kids were talking about with Charles.
She heard what they were saying so she hesitated and just listened from outside the room.
"What? Nadia, haven't you been taught not to lie? Have you forgotten?" Charles' voice was still low but it pierced everyone's ears.
Daddy, I didn't mean to lie. Bobby held my hand and said that he wanted to know if Daddy was hurting Mommy. We're scared that you're going to hurt Mommy! " Nadia was way too timid to keep secrets from Charles.
Bobby's face turned cold. He glared at Nadia and said furiously, "Shut up!"
Nadia covered her mouth in a hurry, "Bobby, I didn't mean it."
She didn't know whom she should listen to now. She was completely conflicted.
She didn't want to be a liar though!
"Bobby, is she telling the truth?" Charles looked at Bobby and asked.
Bobby played with the building blocks with his little hands and said, "Yes, Daddy. If you hurt Mommy, Nadia and I will be very upset."
Tears filled Nancy's eyes.
The children were only eavesdropping because they were worried about her and they just wanted her to be safe. She had it wrong all along. Nancy was brought to tears by her darling children.
She didn't want to go in anymore. She turned around and hurriedly scampered downstairs.
Charles wasn't expecting this. He raised his hand and ruffled Bobby's head caringly. "Listen, I love your Mommy and you too. I swear I will never hurt your Mommy. Do you understand?" Nadia smiled, "Bobby, I told you. Daddy is a good man. He won't hurt Mommy. We shouldn't eavesdrop again." "That wasn't eavesdropping; we were protecting Mommy!" Bobby argued. "Well, I'm willing to have you two watch over me. If anything happens in the future, you can tell Daddy and don't hide anything from me, okay?" Charles asked happily. "Okay," Nadia clapped her hands and cheered.
Charles looked at Bobby. "Bobby, do you have anything to say?"
Bobby shook his head.
Charles pinched Bobby's little nose and said, "What's wrong? Why do you look so glum?"
"Daddy, our classmates said that Bobby is quite cool. They all like him, especially girls!" Nadia interjected.
"Oh?" Charles loved hearing about their school dramas. "Do a lot of girls like him?"
Nadia nodded, "Bobby also likes a lot of them. One, two, three..."
Nadia began to count her fingers.
Charles pretended to be shocked. "So many?"
"Shut up, Nadia!" Bobby frowned and shouted at Nadia angrily.
Nadia chuckled and kept quiet.
"It's a good thing that you have a crush on someone. It's nothing to be ashamed of. Nadia, you should follow his example and make more friends, okay?" Charles said with a smile. "But Bobby doesn't allow me to talk to boys," Nadia said aggrieved.
"Oh? Why not?"
Bobby concentrated on building blocks and said casually, "Nadia is so clueless. What if they bully her?"
Charles shrugged. "Well that's true. As a brother, you should protect your sister!"
The three of them stayed up until ten o'clock.
After taking a shower, Charles walked into the bedroom and saw Nancy lying down and leaning against the headboard of the bed, reading.
"Why do you still study?" Charles asked.
"Are you making fun of me?" she murmured angrily.
"Why would you think that?" Charles sat down beside her and said, "Edward was quite kind today. He knew I was here so he didn't bother coming back. That must be on purpose, right?" Nancy was distracted so she didn't say anything.
"Are you still worried about him?" Charles asked.
"Yes, Charles. Where on earth is he?" Nancy asked with a sigh.
If something really did happen Edward would have definitely answered Nancy's calls. Also, Edward would never disappear for no reason.
Did something happen to him?
Charles was also curious in all honesty. Why hadn't he heard anything from him yet?
Was something really wrong?
Maybe he just fled the city?
