Sweet Twins Indulge in Daddy's Love
Chapter 346 Hide And Seek

Nancy had a bad feeling.

If she showed up with Charles and the children, Angelina was sure to show up in time.

Nancy imagined Angelina sneering at her with a cold face. She would surely say that she didn't belong with Charles.

It had been a while since Nancy saw Angelina and Hardy.

Nancy thought that was a bit odd.

On the outside, Angelina looked simple, but Nancy knew better. Angelina was a snake. Back then, Nancy was framed by Jill and Fannie. She suspected that Angelina might've had something to do with it. She had to be on her guard!

Lost in her thoughts, Nancy suddenly heard a voice from upstairs.

"Nadia and Bobby are here!"

Nancy looked up to see Angelina and Hardy coming from upstairs.

Out of politeness, Nancy greeted them with a smile, "Hello, Aunt, Uncle, Charles drove us here today."

She wanted to imply that it wasn't her idea to come here.

Although this was true, Nancy took the opportunity to show off her attitude.

"Nancy, you make it seem like you didn't want to come here today!" Angelina exclaimed in a voice dripping with sarcasm.

"I can't do anything about it if that's what you think." Nancy shrugged and forced a smile on her face.

Angelina scoffed in anger.

"Will you two stop it? The kids are in the dining room already. Come and have dinner with us," Frederic scolded.

"Okay. Nancy, Let's have dinner together!" Angelina said nonchalantly.

Looking back at Angelina, Nancy felt uncomfortable.

'Charles was the one who wanted to bring me here. He knows I don't get along with Angelina. Why isn't he defending me?' she thought to herself.

What could this mean?

Frederic called out to her again, "Nancy, come to the dining room."

Nancy couldn't refuse Frederic, so she walked into the dining room and washed her hands.

They thought Charles would come shortly, but after a while, he was still nowhere to be seen.

"Let's eat now. Don't wait for him," Frederic said.

"Why isn't Daddy having dinner yet?" Nadia asked as she ate her porridge.

"Don't worry about your father and eat your food. Here, have some more," Angelina instructed as she gave Nadia more porridge. She was always nice to Nadia in front of Frederic. Even nicer to her than she was to Bobby!

Angelina was obviously doing this to win Frederic's approval.

Nancy felt uneasy and knew that something was wrong.

Setting down her food, she left to go to the bathroom. With a soft knock on the door, she asked, "Are you done, Charles? Why haven't you come out yet?"

Charles quickly deleted the photo and stepped out of the bathroom.

"What happened?" Nancy asked anxiously.

"Nothing. It's about work. You wouldn't understand. Let's go and have dinner," he replied curtly. He walked past Nancy to go to the dining room.

Nancy was hurt by what Charles said.

Dismissing her negative thoughts, she convinced herself that maybe something bad had happened to his company.

Nancy returned to the table.

"Daddy, you don't look happy!" Bobby said in a soft voice.

"Eat your food. Daddy has a stomachache," he said coldly.

"Did you eat something bad? It's getting colder these days. Is there no one to care for you? You should take better care of yourself!" Angelina scolded as she glanced at Nancy. She disliked how little Nancy cared for Charles.

Charles ignored her and put down his food. He suddenly stood up and left the room.

"Charles! Where are you going? Aren't you going to eat? What's wrong?" Angelina shouted angrily.

Turning to face Nancy, Frederic asked, "What happened to him?"

Nancy had no idea what was going on.

Charles was fine just a minute ago. What was wrong with him all of a sudden?

Didn't he come here to talk about their marriage?

Why did he leave like that?

Were they not getting married anymore?

Nancy's mind was a mess.

If she had known he would do this, she would've refused his proposal. She was so embarrassed!

"I don't know, grandpa. Maybe he does have a stomachache," she answered with an awkward smile.

"You should take better care of him! If you don't care about him, why are you still with him?" Angelina questioned in a mocking voice.

Nancy stood up and said, "I'll go check up on him."

She turned to go upstairs.

Charles wasn't in the bedroom but the study.

Nancy approached the study.

The door was slightly opened and she softly knocked before entering.

As she entered the room, Charles looked at her coldly. "Why are you here? Aren't you supposed to be having dinner?"

"You said you had a stomachache. Should I take you to the hospital?"

Charles put down his book and scoffed at her. "It's Edward who always has stomachaches. My stomach is fine."

Nancy didn't know why he was acting like this.

"Didn't you say you had a stomachache?" she asked again softly. She fetched him a cup of hot water and placed it in front of him. "Drink some of this. It'll make you feel better."

Charles pushed her away and said stiffly, "I already told you my stomach's fine. Weren't you listening?"

Nancy almost fell to the ground when he pushed her.

"Hey, what's wrong with you today? Why are you being so unreasonable?" she yelled angrily at him.

"You're right. I'm not as good as Edward. He's handsome and has a good temper. He can win over any woman or child. That's why you love him more than me, right?" Nancy grimaced at his reply, and Charles suddenly remembered how happy she looked with Edward.

He pushed her away again and stormed out of the room, feeling like he might explode.

"What am I supposed to say to that? Just say what you mean! I'm not afraid to break up with you. Don't talk bad about Edward anymore, okay?" She quickly realized that he was in a foul mood because of Edward.

The thought of it was unbearable for Nancy. She had explained everything she needed to explain to Edward. What more could she say?

"You want to break up? No way!" he shot back before leaving.

Nancy was frozen in the middle of the room, stuck in a daze. "Damn it, Charles! If you don't want to get married, just tell me! Why are you leaving?"

Nancy was frustrated by the whole situation.

Charles stormed into the bedroom as Nancy watched from the corridor.

She couldn't decide if she should stay or go to Edward's house.

"What's wrong, Nancy?" Frederic also noticed that something had been bothering Charles for some time, but couldn't ask in front of the children.
