Sweet Twins Indulge in Daddy's Love -
Chapter 326 A Different Feeling
"Yes, Edward had always liked exercising," Nancy said, smiling fondly at him.
"It's rare to find a man who likes to exercise! You picked a good husband!" The saleslady assumed Edward and Nancy were a couple and smiled at them.
"I agree, I also think Nancy has good taste. Right, Nancy?" Edward agreed, stopping Nancy from correcting the saleslady. He grinned at the saleslady and continued to play along. "Yes, Edward is right!"
Nancy resigned, not wanting to explain either. With a casual smile, she asked, "Can you please pack it for me?"
"Of course, please come and visit us again!" The saleslady beamed, pleased that she made a great sale. She quickly packed the clothes.
Edward handed over his card to pay for the items.
After they finished shopping, Nancy was eager to leave and go home.
Before she had a chance to tell him that she wanted to leave, he grabbed her hand and walked her over to a women's boutique.
"Edward, it's fine! I have a lot of clothes!" she protested. Every time she opened her wardrobe, there would be a new set of clothing, with a variety of styles and luxury brands, without her even knowing. She had many pieces that she hadn't even worn yet.
The clothes were always gifted to her by Charles. Sometimes, it felt like he loved her sincerely, the way he lavished her with gifts.
The problem with Charles was that he showed his affection in extremes, sometimes too hot, sometimes too cold.
"What's wrong? You don't like it? Do you only accept gifts from other people?" He pouted, pretending to be angry.
"It's not like that, Edward. Don't say those things." She nudged his arm playfully.
Charles looked at Nancy's lovely face and frowned, feeling uncomfortable.
He didn't like the idea of her smiling for any other man but him.
Sitting in his car, he squinted as he took a drag from his cigarette.
He could never get used to the idea of Nancy spending so much time with Edward.
Edward was like an older brother to Nancy, and she relied on him as a child relied on their father.
Charles could understand that much. Nancy grew up alone and never got the chance to experience the love that came from family.
'Nancy, I love you. We belong together. The love between husband and wife can't compare to the love between friends. Why can't you see that?'
Charles thought to himself, sighing in defeat. He remembered suddenly that Nancy never bought him clothes. It was always him who gifted her with clothing.
As he watched Nancy walking around with Edward, his heart sank and filled with jealousy.
He continued to watch them, thinking that Nancy should buy him some clothing some other time.
Resisting the urge to get out of the car, he gripped the steering wheel tightly and frowned at them.
Knowing that Edward once helped Nancy, he tried to control his anger.
He saw Nancy and Edward smiling at each other, clearly at ease with one another.
The sight of them flustered Charles.
Tonight, he decided he would tell Nancy how he truly felt.
'Nancy, I want you by my side forever. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I'll keep you next to me and do whatever it takes to make that happen,1 he thought.
Edward had brought over several pieces for Nancy to try on. She tried them on happily, twirling in front of the dressing mirror.
It was clear she was charmed by Edward, making Charles feel incompetent. He realized that he had always been focused on the result, but never paid attention to the small details.
Only asking his secretary to buy clothing for her, he didn't realize the happiness she would feel trying them on for herself.
No wonder she favored Edward!
Edward and Nancy walked out of the boutique arm in arm.
"Edward, we've been shopping for a while now, I think it's time for us to go back," Nancy suggested with a smile.
"Sure, I'll drive you home." He opened the car door for Nancy, and then walked over to the driver's seat. As he closed the door, his eyes fell on the rearview mirror, where he met the cold gaze of a man. The man was looking at him and Nancy. Edward observed the man's glaring eyes.
He recognized the man to be the one he had met previously at the hospital.
Was he following them?
Nancy looked at Edward, who was staring intently at the rearview mirror. "What's wrong Edward?" she asked, oblivious that Charles was behind them.
"Look." Edward pointed his chin towards his window.
Nancy turned to the direction he was pointing and saw a car speed past them.
She recognized Charles' white lotus sports car immediately.
Edward frowned in disapproval as he started the car. "Isn't he the man who took you away from the hospital?"
"Yeah, that's him," Nancy replied.
"What's your relationship with him, Nancy? Do you need money from him? If you're concerned about money, you can tell me. You don't have to stay with him. I know you 're a smart woman. Don't do anything you don't want to do!" Edward reasoned.
It was difficult for Nancy to explain her relationship with Charles. It wasn't about money. How would she tell Edward about him?
Should she say that they lived together?
Or that they were a couple?
Should she mention the children...?
Edward would never believe her.
Nancy sighed helplessly, trying to find the right words. "It's complicated. I can't explain it right now..."
Not wanting to pry any longer, Edward frowned and decided to stop asking.
He remained silent until they arrived at the villa in the suburb.
Parking the car in front of the villa, he turned to her and said, "Nancy, you don't have to get out of the car if you don't want."
Nancy was alarmed to see Edward's cold face. It was the first time he looked at her like that. She wasn't afraid of him, knowing he had best intentions at heart.
Nancy opened the door before turning to say, "Edward, thank you for today, and for driving me home. I'm going now."
"See you soon, Nancy," he replied in a low voice and then started the car and left.
Nancy sighed as she watched him drive away.
She remembered the disappointment in Edward's face, and felt like beating herself to death.
She found tears in her eyes and wiped them away quickly before walking towards the villa.
Suddenly, she bumped into someone.
Stunned, Nancy replied, "Who is it?"
"Why do you look so surprised? It's me." Charles narrowed his eyes at her and smiled maliciously.
Nancy thought Charles looked ridiculous and couldn't resist the urge to tease him.
"Yes, you surprised me. When did you become so sneaky?" "Sneaky?" he scoffed. It seemed she knew him too well. "Did you have a good time with Edward?" he asked curtly. Nancy sighed in resignation. "We always have this conversation whenever I see him. Aren't you sick of it?"
His jaw tightened in frustration. "Do you really like Edward?"
She chuckled, "I like Edward. I like him very much!"
His eyes widened at her confession. "What?"
"I do like him. Isn't that what you wanted to hear?" she jeered.
Nancy had always been fond of Edward, but knew herself too well and the situation she was in. It was unfair of her to get him involved. He was too good for her in all aspects.
