Sweet Twins Indulge in Daddy's Love
Chapter 299 Lack Of A Sense Of Security

"I am..." Charles gritted his teeth angrily, 'Tm your children's father, right?"

"Stop! You are making trouble out of nothing!" Nancy didn't dare to argue with him, because she knew that he was right.

He was their father.

"1 already dismissed Anna." Charles glared at Nancy and said word by word.

Nancy was astonished. "You fired her?"

"Well, I don't like her. That isn't the reason I fired her though. It's mainly because of her poor medical ethics," Charles said softly.

"So, Anna didn't go to work today?" asked Nancy, looking at him in a daze.

Nancy just realized what must be happening in the hospital now.

All the patients are probably waiting anxiously for the pediatric doctor.

"Yes, you and Anna both aren't at work today. Jessie is still in the ward..."

Before Charles could finish speaking, Nancy interrupted, "Why didn't you tell me earlier?"

Charles shrugged. "I thought you were already at work, so..."

Of course he couldn't tell her that he knew she was at Jay's house yesterday. It was supposed to be a secret and he didn't want to embarrass her. "Forget about it. Hurry up! Let's go." Without hesitation, Nancy opened the door and sat in the passenger seat.

Charles hesitantly asked, "Where do you want to go?"

"To the hospital! Where else?" said Nancy anxiously.

"Dear, it's already half past seven in the evening. Is there any point?"

Nancy hurriedly ran her hands through her hair. She sulked and said, "Then let's just go home. I miss the children anyway."

Charles was a bit flabbergasted.

"What's wrong? Why are you so flustered? If you don't want to go, I'll drive myself," Nancy said abruptly.

"I forgot to pick up the kids this afternoon," said Charles hesitantly.

"What? Where are the kids?"

"They should be in the kindergarten, but why didn't the teacher call us?" Charles nervously looked for his phone. He searched all over his pockets, and then rummaged through his car. Suddenly, he said, "Ah, I forgot my phone in my office."

"Charles, You're so careless! Get in the car! Let's go get the children," said Nancy sharply.

Charles sat hurriedly in the driver's seat. "Nancy, check with Hiram if he has picked up the children."

If the teacher couldn't get through to Charles, surely she would have tried Hiram.

Unfortunately the kids were actually stuck at school. It seemed that only Bobby and Nadia were left.

Bobby, are we annoying? Do Daddy and Mommy not want us anymore?" Nadia said dejectedly, with a hint of worry in her tearful eyes.

Since Nadia had been abandoned before, she lacked a sense of security.

"You're just overthinking. Of course Daddy and mommy love us. How could they abandon us?" Bobby said to Nadia. In all honesty he wasn't doing a very good job of comforting her.

"All the other kids have already left, but we're still here. Why?" Nadia was about to cry as she said.

"Daddy is a president and Mommy is a doctor. They are just very busy. Doesn't that make sense?" Bobby gently held Nadia's hand and said, "I'm your brother. You still have me. Come on, Nadia, give me a smile.11

Nadia didn't want to disappoint Bobby, so she grinned at him.

"Nadia, you look so beautiful when you smile!" Bobby praised.

In fact, Nadia's smile wasn't exactly pretty. It might have been even worse than her crying.

Bobby told himself that he was more than her brother- he was also a man. He had to protect Nadia when their parents weren't around.

This was his responsibility! So he had to cheer her up!

"Thank you, brother!" Nadia said sweetly.

It was the first time she'd called him "brother". Bobby widened his eyes in excitement. "Nadia, you finally called me brother? Can you always call me that?" Nadia smiled shyly, "Okay."

"I thought Nadia was a tomboy, but she's just as girly as ever!" Bobby shouted playfully.

"Am I cute, brother?" Nadia continued to ask.

"Of course, Nadia is the cutest girl in the world!" Bobby said firmly.

The teacher came over frowning. "Haven't your parents come yet?"

The smile on Nadia's face faded away slowly. "Not yet. Our parents must be very busy, so..."

Her voice softened the more she spoke.

"Teacher, may you please call our parents?" Bobby asked respectfully.

"Of course I can. It's my job to make sure that you're safe!" The teacher took out her phone and called Charles. The phone rang, but no one answered.

The teacher called him several times, but she couldn't get through.

The teacher then tried Nancy but it seemed that her phone was off.

Nadia's face darkened. She lowered her head, her hands clenching nervously.

Frowning, Bobby comforted her, "Daddy might have a meeting. Mommy... Mommy might be doing an operation!" "Yes, it must be." The teacher quickly answered, "How about you two come back with me to my house tonight?"

Nadia shook her head and said timidly, "No, I'll wait for Mommy. She should finish the operation soon!"

Nadia was beginning to panic. Her mother didn't come home last night and she could see that her daddy was not happy at all.

Daddy said Mommy had a surgery, but it had been almost a full day now. Why was she still not contacting them?

Did she leave them and run away?

The more Nadia thought about it, the more terrified she became. Tears welled up in her eyes.

Bobby began feeling Nadia's sadness as well. He said anxiously, "Teacher, please call Uncle Hiram again and ask him to pick us up."

Bobby gave the teacher Hiram's number.

"Okay, I'll call him right away." The teacher then called Hiram.

Hiram wasn't expecting to pick up the kids today. He usually only picked them up when Charles wasn't available. Charles didn't tell him today, so it was the last thing on his mind.

He suddenly received a call from the kindergarten teacher, and Hiram immediately answered nervously. He was afraid that something happened to the children. "Teacher, what's going on?"

"Mr. Sun, I called Mr. Fu and Dr. Nancy, but I couldn't get through. May you please come pick up the children? Are you free?" the teacher asked.

Hiram frantically got up out of his chair and said, "Okay, I'll go there right away."

'Why didn't Charles call me to pick them up? The kids have been waiting for so long. It's so dangerous.' Hiram thought.
