Sweet Mischief’s Rollercoaster Romance -
Chapter 639
Upstairs, Mia pulled out her custom-made dress from the closet. As she slipped it on, she asked, "Having any troubles lately?"
Molly, seated on a nearby stool, looked curious. "Mia, isn't it weird sharing a bed with Andre?"
Mia turned to her best friend and chuckled. "What's weird about it? It's totally normal for couples."
Molly sighed. "Guess I'm the odd one out then."
...
Downstairs, the little guy started crying, loud but without tears. Leo smirked and said, "A man's cry without tears isn't real." Right then, the little actor's tears suddenly streamed down. Andre, usually stern, softened at the sight of his adorable son.
He stood up, cradling his son, patting his back gently. "Why the tears, buddy? Even girls don't cry as much as you."
The child's sobbing echoed in his father's ears.
Soon after, Mia came down the stairs in her dress.
Just as the little one was calming down, he saw his mom and got all excited, squirming like he wanted to fly into her arms.
But Mia, focused on her husband, ignored him. "How's the dress look?" she asked.
The little one squirmed more, and Andre, fearing he'd fall, supported him with a hand on his back and another gently pressing his head. "Looks good," he said. Men and their brief compliments.
The family chatted away, not paying much attention to the little one, until his frustration peaked.
His cheeks puffed up, mouth wide open, silencing the living room.
Everyone turned to the tearful little darling, his tears streaming like his grandfather's when he was mad.
This time, Andre's soothing didn't work; the more he tried, the louder the child cried. "Mia, come quick, he needs you."
"Coming, mommy's here," Mia said, taking her plump little son into her arms.
She leaned back slightly, took a soft tissue from Anya, and dabbed at his tears and drool.
The boy's cries turned to whimpers in his mom's arms.
"You're usually fine with your dad, even during baths. Why so clingy now?"
Naomi chimed in, "It only took a few days for Leo to be the same. Stick to his dad for just two hours, and any longer meant a meltdown."
Molly asked, "What about me?"
Naomi revealed the truth. "You? No one could compete for you."
Before Molly, it was a boys' household.
Even with Molly, it stayed a boys' domain.
Naomi adored her daughter, Bruce cherished his sister, and Andre would rush home from school to cuddle his little sister. Not to mention the joy of the parents who had a daughter later in life, always eager for a hug upon returning home. Anya sympathetically added, "Poor Chad then, huh?"
Naomi pointed at her son. "If you knew the mischief he's been up to, you wouldn't pity him; you'd be disgusted."
Anya: "What?"
Mia: "Hmm?"
Jade looked at her great-nephew, intrigued. "Oh?"
All eyes turned to Naomi, urging her. "Spill it, what did he do?"
"Mom, you can't tell. If you do, I'm not marrying off," Leo stood up from the couch, threatening.
Naomi retorted, "With your antics, who'd marry you anyway?"
The focus shifted to little Anya, who blushed.
The crying child, thinking the family was talking to him, stopped crying. He even added a couple of "ahs" to the conversation. Curious about Leo's past antics, Andre's wife, unable to get the scoop from Naomi, turned her gaze to her husband. "Honey~" Andre, with adoration in his eyes, smiled softly.
Molly, knowing an easier target, cozied up to her dad. "Dad, feeling tired?"
Hansen, ever so principled, replied, "Finished your 100 sit-ups yet?"
Molly: "..."
Evening came, and Chad arrived home, spotting a candied apple on his way and buying it from an old man by the roadside.
"Molly, you awake?" Chad called out as he changed his shoes.
Coleen: "She's gone."
Chad, surprised, "Where to now?"
"To the Cedillo's. Said she's getting married soon, wanted to spend more time with the Cedillo family," Coleen glanced at the candied apple in his hand. "She's scared of sweets, and yet you buy her these. When Molly's toothaches, you'll be the one hurting." Learning Molly had returned to the Cedillo's, Chad, lost in thought, sighed, then handed the candied apple to his mother. "Here, you have it then."
Coleen, rarely playful, turned to ask her husband for a candied apple instead.
Chad: "Jealous over your daughter, huh? Dad's got a meeting tonight, won't be back till late. Have it."
Coleen then accepted, sharing the treat with her mother-in-law.
Chad, feeling a twinge of sadness over Molly's departure, entered his bedroom to find the vanity filled with a girl's skincare products, the serum he bought for her prominently displayed, now adorned with a butterfly knot and a note underneath. Chad picked up the note: "Thanks for the serum, Chad. Love you lots, Molly."
Her simple words warmed his heart.
"Good at nothing but sweet talk," Officer Chad mused.
Heading to the bathroom, he noticed his grooming products relegated to a corner, replaced by an array of bizarre feminine items.
"The girl's not moved in, but her stuff sure has," Chad thought, amused.
Molly's wedding was set for late March. The Su and Byrne families were busy sending out invitations, spreading the word of the joyous occasion to friends and relatives far and wide.
This time around, Andre didn't throw a lavish banquet like he did for his son's first birthday party, inviting the who's who from all around. Since it was his sister's wedding, he didn't want to overshadow the Byrnes with his usual flair. Thus, he only invited a few close friends to the celebration.
Mia had taken several days off and had just rushed back to school to catch up on her studies. Thankfully, with Molly returning home, there was someone to take care of her son!
"Say 'auntie', Henry. Come on, buddy, 'aun-tie'. You can do it!"
