Sweet Mischief’s Rollercoaster Romance -
Chapter 630
Jack and Naomi were chatting openly, without a care about the family members around them.
Naomi used to worry that her sister-in-law, Emily, might get hurt. But after witnessing the whole thing, she was left speechless.
Jack thought to himself that Emily and her husband were definitely not the kind of people to mess with.
The butler quietly slipped away, realizing just how polite Emily had been to the Cedillo family at her wedding. She hadn't even laid a finger on anyone despite the tension! Basking in the warm sunlight, Emily looked up at Jack and Naomi with a cheeky smile, "Dad, Naomi, did you enjoy watching me stand up for myself just now?"
Jack blinked his amber eyes, "Uh, yeah, it was something."
Naomi coughed lightly, "Emily, sweetie, let's try to keep things peaceful, okay?"
Emily, looking innocent, replied, "But Naomi, I was just defending myself."
Naomi blinked, not daring to argue, "Ah, right, self-defense. Just, try to avoid it in the future, okay?"
Emily's gaze flitted between them, "Dad, Naomi, you're not scared of me now, are you? Thinking I might turn on you next?"
The duo exchanged awkward glances. Silence filled the air, an eerie calm.
"Oh, come on..." Emily protested.
Then, in the yard, she defended herself loudly, "Of course not, you're my family. Why would I ever turn on you? I've never raised my hand to you. My fights are with the outside world, not within." Jack nodded, "That's all I needed to hear."
Leo, the ever-teasing grandson, chuckled, "Ha, Grandpa, you're not usually scared of anything. Why worry about Emily? Take her on."
"Mom, I told you before, don't be fooled by Emily's sweet exterior. Seriously, don't be. Did you listen? Now, who's startled? Serves you right. Emily is no pushover."
As Leo finished, the trio in the yard turned their gaze toward him. Realizing his mistake, Leo's smile faded, "Why's everyone looking at me?"
Naomi, no longer intimidated by her sister-in-law, pointed at Leo, "Emily, go take him down."
Jack, also shedding his fear, pointed at his grandson, "Emily, go on, sew his mouth shut." "Alright! Just hold my baby for a moment."
After handing over her child, the yard turned into a chase scene with Leo running and Emily in pursuit, their young son watching eagerly, filled with excitement.
After the guards had apprehended the culprit, they turned to Jack for instructions. Jack went to confront Wesley in his room alone, his demeanor stern, "What's your name?"
room.
Wesley remained silent, not uttering a word. Emily, barred from entering, could only eavesdrop at the door with her son in her arms. The little one, nestled against his mother's neck, struggled to stay awake amidst the fatigue. Soon, sounds of a scuffle emerged from the Leo, worried about Anya, decided, "I'll go pick up Anya."
"Wait a minute," Emily suddenly stood up, listening to the muffled groans from inside the room. "Should we bring her back to try?"
Leo, understanding her gaze, replied, "She's about to get married, you sure?"
"She's clever. Let's ask if she'd come back."
So, the Byrne family got a call. "Hello, Leo?"
Anya's eyes followed her aunt Jade's voice, curious. On the other end, Leo said something that made Jade sneak a glance at Chad, then with exaggerated stealth, she moved away, whispering, "Yeah, what's up?" Chad noticed Molly trying to sneak away to answer the call. His gaze softened, amused, "Always finding trouble for me."
In the restroom, Molly finally heard the whole story. "He got put in his place by Emily? Can't get anything out of him, huh? Alright, I got it. Wedding or not, I'm in for the drama... I mean, to help. I'll be there!" Seeing her radiant reflection, Molly hadn't felt this happy in ages. Back outside, she cheerfully announced to Anya, "Let's go, sweetie, Auntie will take you home."
Chad, keys in hand, offered, "I'll drive you."
Jade immediately objected, "Why the rush to my family's place when we aren't even married? You're not coming."
Chad approached Molly, "What trouble are you stirring up now?"
"Who's stirring? I'm just taking Anya home. Stop imagining things."
Molly, ready to leave, Chad still worried, followed out, "Sure you don't want a ride? I won't even enter the Cedillo's place, okay?"
Molly, quick-witted as ever, replied, "We're not married yet. Don't give people more reasons to talk about me."
Anya innocently added, "Uncle Chad, Aunt Molly would feel bad if you went through all that trouble without even coming inside."
"Pfft, your uncle is a big bad wolf. Whoever pities him is cursed. I certainly don't," Molly, knowing Chad too well, declared.
They hailed a cab and quickly made their way home. Upon arrival, Anya rushed to Leo, "Chad, what happened? Why didn't you pick me up and let Aunt and Uncle do it?"
Leo ruffled Anya's hair reassuringly then turned to Molly, "Been half an hour, not a word from him."
Molly reassured, "Wait here. Let me check."
Entering the room, Molly found her father, the once playful man, now stern and silent, a pillar of strength and cold justice. Seeing Molly, a hint of softness appeared, "You're back?" Molly waved it off, "Dad, let me try."
As Hansen was about to dismiss her, Emily, holding her child at the doorway, interjected, "Dad, give Molly a chance. She might surprise you."
Wesley, slumped in his chair, faced another arrival, his sister Molly, missing for over a decade. Molly circled around him, noting his indifference to pain. With a smirk, she strode out, "Take him outside and hang him up." "Wouldn't that kill him?" Hansen asked.
Molly rolled her eyes at her father, "Who said anything about hanging by the neck? Hang him upside down."
Soon enough, in the Cedillo family's backyard, a man was suspended, head down, feet up, bound all over. Anya, driven by curiosity, wanted to join the commotion outside. Leo, holding her back, was worried she might pick up some bad habits. In the end, Anya was practically hanging out of the window, her upper body stretched out as far as it could go, eyes wide with fascination at the scene unfolding outside.
