Tears clung to Mia's lashes as she knelt by the bed, gently dabbing her son's eyes with a soft cloth. The little guy fussed and squirmed on the mattress. "Hold still, sweetie, let Mommy clean your eyes so you can see Daddy clearly."

Once she finished, Mia gave his diaper a light pat. "Cry all you want, let Andre see just how loud you can be."

After scolding her son, Mia settled back on her heels and video-called her husband from a distance. "I shouldn't have spoiled him so much. Now he pouts at the slightest thing. I'm thinking of dropping him off at Dad's tonight. He's been spoiling him rotten lately; let Dad handle him."

Andre's face lit up on the screen, and their son, as if full of grievances, started babbling nonstop upon seeing his dad.

"Honey, are you in the car? Where are you headed?"

"Just wrapped up some work, heading back to the hotel now."

Mia sighed, "When are you coming back? Your boy and I are missing you."

"If all goes well, I'll catch tomorrow night's flight, and you two can see me the day after tomorrow when you wake up." "Ah, ah."

Mia lifted her bundle of joy, now smelling sweetly of baby lotion. "What's with the 'ah, ah' now?"

"Ah, ah, ah, ah."

Mia rolled her eyes, "Communication breakdown, and he's doubling down on it!"

"Honey, spanking our son doesn't count as domestic violence, right?"

Andre reassured her, "As long as it's not severe, it doesn't count."

Mia pouted adorably at her husband through the video call. "Don't worry, I know my limits."

Then, she playfully spanked the little one.

Mia cradled her son. "Off to Grandpa's you go, let you two drive each other nuts."

She didn't end the call as she left the room with her son, only to return shortly after, alone and ready for some alone time with her husband.

Mia sensed something off with Andre lately. After sending their son off, she gently broached more intimate topics, aiming to cheer him up.

Every time Andre felt overwhelmed by darkness, like he was mired in the lake's depths, invisible and grim, their calls brought a glimmer of warmth to his chilling heart. His wife and son were like rays of bright sunshine in his life, bringing joy and happiness at every turn.

Even as Andre returned to his hotel, Mia kept chatting away, her lips as unstoppable as their son's. Every mundane detail of her day could fuel a lengthy conversation, and as Andre prepared to shower, he found himself still caught up in their chat. He finally chuckled, "Mia, why don't you grab a glass of water downstairs? Let me take a quick shower, and we'll continue our video call, okay?"

Mia, feigning annoyance, puffed her cheeks. "Are you tired of me?"

Before he could clarify, Mia declared, "Fine, tired of me again. I wonder who Andre's been seeing outside, getting impatient with his own wife so quickly. Let's just hang up." Andre let out a low laugh, indulging her mood.

Shortly after his shower, when he tried calling Mia back, there was no answer.

His phone buzzed with a message from a colleague, "Boss, Old Walker refuses to meet."

Andre's smile faded. "Then we'll make him come to us."

His colleague got the hint.

Sure enough, the next day, the man who had refused to meet Andre was now repeatedly trying to get in touch with one of Andre's team leaders, eager for a meeting. "Boss, he's called again. Should I take it?" The team leader glanced at the incoming call log but looked to Andre for guidance.

Andre, lounging in his chair with the stock trend of Walker Corporation displayed on his laptop, casually responded, "Let the stock drop another 10%, then we'll talk."

By midday, as Andre had predicted, Old Walker had bombarded the team leader with calls and messages, even sending people to wait at the Cedillo Group's front desk.

On the sixty-seventh call, the team leader respectfully offered the phone to Andre.

Having achieved his aim, Andre's lips curved into a cold smile, closing his laptop and taking the call.

"Mr. Feng, could you arrange a meeting with Andre? I'd like to invite him to dinner, as a token of goodwill," Old Walker tried to suppress his anger, sounding somewhat more humble than usual. "Didn't Mr. Walker just decline my invitation yesterday?" Andre's voice, cool and compelling, made Old Walker stiffen.

After a moment, Old Walker shifted his tone. "Andre, there was an emergency at home yesterday, which is why I declined. Today, I hope you'll grace me with your presence and allow me to apologize in person." The Walker Corporation was on the brink; any more turbulence could shake the very foundations of the Walker family.

"If only you had been this cooperative yesterday, we could have saved billions," Andre's calm voice came through, leaving no room for rebuttal.

Andre then set the place for their meeting and was the first to hang up. He instructed his team leader, "This afternoon, I don't want any disturbances. And don't bother leaving someone at the door for me."

The team leader nodded, understanding the unusual circumstances of this visit. He knew better than to pry into matters beyond his pay grade.

That afternoon, as Old Walker arrived at the hotel for their meeting, he dialed his third son. "AJ, found anything? If Andre's son is really with Tom, we might have an upper hand in today's meeting."

Wesley, lurking in the shadows, monitored every move of the Cedillo family. "No unusual activity spotted at the Cedillo's."

Shortly after, a maid was seen leaving the Cedillo household, presumably for some errands.

Wesley had been watching for a while. Only cars came in and out of the Cedillo estate; even the household's butler and senior staff had rides arranged for them. So, when he spotted a maid on foot, Wesley knew his chance had arrived. He quickly ended the call with his father, got out of his car, and approached the maid as if by chance. "Excuse me, ma'am, could I trouble you for some information?"

The maid, who appeared to be in her forties with slight plumpness, was on her way to the downtown area when she ran into Wesley. She greeted him warmly. "Sure, what do you need?"

"Do you happen to know where the Cedillo family lives?" Wesley asked.

The maid turned around, pointing towards a security booth not too far off. "You see that over there? That's the Cedillo place."
