Sweet Mischief’s Rollercoaster Romance -
Chapter 485
On a crisp day transitioning from late autumn to early winter, in October by the lunar calendar, just past midnight, a child was born to the Rivers family. The long-awaited joy had finally arrived. In the delivery room, a nurse handed the newborn to Andre and asked, "Dad, do you know how to hold a baby?"
Andre nodded, recalling how he had held his siblings, Molly and Leo, twenty years ago. He had even secretly practiced since then.
As Andre held his own flesh and blood, the baby, who had been crying moments before, miraculously quieted down. His eyes stayed shut, and his tiny face nestled against Andre's chest. The nurse chuckled, "Wow, he's already a daddy's boy."
Andre gazed down at his son, smiling as he gently touched the baby's tiny fingers. "No matter how ugly you are, Daddy loves you."
Despite the joy, the couple had only said three sentences to their child, each containing the word 'ugly.'
Outside the delivery room, another nurse emerged carrying little Leo of the Rivers family, and a crowd quickly gathered around. Before the nurse could speak, the group fired off questions: "Where's my sister?" "Where's the mother?" "Where's my Mia?" Madison and Naomi, who had both experienced childbirth before, remained silent, their eyes fixed on the delivery room door.
Only Hansen looked at the baby in the nurse's arms and asked uncertainly, "Is this Mia's baby? He doesn't look like it."
The nurse, who had been at a loss for words several times that day, replied, "Mother and child are both safe! Andre is still with Mrs. Rivers inside; they'll be out soon. Who's going to take the baby now?" "I will."
"Give him to me."
"I'm his aunt."
"I'm his brother."
"I'm his uncle."
Molly slapped Leo's hand away, "Don't even try, I'm his aunt, I go first. All you young ones, step back!"
Leo shoved Cooper, "Are you even 20 yet? If not, you can't hold the baby."
Cooper squeezed forward, "This 'bundle of joy' is my sister's, not yours. I should hold him."
Anya, squeezed to the back, jumped up and down trying to catch a glimpse of the baby.
Even Aaron and Bruce couldn't get to the front.
The nurse watched the group of young people squabbling, feeling as if they might start a brawl any second.
Hansen reached out quietly, ready to hold the baby.
The nurse stepped aside, "Hansen, you still need a walking stick to get around; you definitely can't hold the baby."
Hansen withdrew his hand, sounding slightly aggrieved, "I just saw that nobody was holding him."
Madison, anxious about not seeing her daughter and fed up with the bickering, walked over, grabbed Molly with one hand and twisted Cooper's ear with the other. "Move aside!"
Frightened, Molly scurried over to Chad for support.
Leo was dragged away by his mother, "It's not your turn yet."
Finally, the baby landed in his grandmother's arms.
Now, the adults had a chance to see the new addition.
Chad, seeing a newborn for the first time, found him all wrinkly and couldn't tell who he resembled.
When Mia was wheeled out, the crowd around the baby instantly vanished, leaving the nurse pushing the bed squeezed out.
The nurse muttered, "Could the Rivers family get any rougher?"
The baby, sensing his parents nearby, started crying and struggling again.
Despite Madison's attempts to soothe him, he continued crying.
Then Andre walked over and took his son from his mother-in-law's arms. He held the baby, who fit perfectly along his arm, and gently patted his back. "I...," he paused, then corrected himself, "Daddy's here." It was his first time being a father, his first time calling himself 'Daddy' to a little one.
That night, he gained a new blood relative in the world.
At that moment, Andre's heart brimmed with excitement.
As soon as he finished speaking, the baby in his arms stopped crying, slowly turning his face to his father's arm, as if he was about to fall asleep.
Mia looked at her little one and weakly announced, "I've reached my ultimate life goal!"
Molly laughed, "Well done, you've got it all at 21. When I was 21, I didn't even have a boyfriend."
Mia's eyes narrowed with laughter.
The nurse reminded them, "The mother needs to go back to her room now."
The group quickly wheeled Mia back to her room.
After returning, Andre placed the baby in the prepared stroller.
A major event was finally over.
Late at night, Andre couldn't hide his excitement. He posted a picture in his brother's group chat, showing his large hand gently holding the baby's small foot.
Before he could send the message he was typing, Mars replied, "!!!!!!!!!!! Is the baby here?"
Conner Nettleton: "Damn, is that yours? Don't use other people's babies for photos."
Asher: "Are you a dad now?"
Teddy: "Am I a godfather now?"
Andre replied: "A son, seven pounds and six ounces."
The fewer the words, the more excited he was.
Mars@Andre: "Send the hospital's location, I want to see my godson."
Asher@Mars: "Coincidentally, my godson is also in the hospital."
Mars roared: "Andre, send the location!"
Conner: "Dad-to-be, send the location!"
Teddy replied: "He must have become a stay-at-home dad."
Late at night, the hospital was anything but quiet.
The sleeping baby became the center of attention.
As Andre fed his son formula, four twenty-somethings squatted beside him.
Chad didn't stay long in the room. After seeing the baby, he went downstairs to accompany his mother.
"Mia gave birth, it's a boy, mother and child are safe. Molly is going to study the baby tonight, she won't be returning."
Coleen also felt relieved.
Mia too wanted to see her son. Andre put the baby, now full, next to her. She turned her head several times to look at her son. The baby also turned his head and slowly opened his eyes to meet his mother's gaze. "After a long look, he doesn't seem that ugly." The baby: "..." My mom is ugly!
Mia touched the baby's cheek, her body glowing with maternal warmth, her eyes showing maternal tenderness. "Baby, I'm your mom. We often talked through the belly."
Feeling the familiar warmth and hearing the familiar voice, the baby showed his first smile.
The adults, as if they had never seen the world, were incredibly excited.
Molly pointed excitedly at the baby's face, "He's smiling, he's smiling, he can actually smile."
The newborn looked at Molly quietly, "..." How about a cry instead?
Molly jumped up excitedly again, "He, he, he looked at me. Andre, Andre, your son looked at me."
Leo sidled up to his eccentric aunt, "Come here. Don't scare the 'little bundle' on his first day in the world."
The little bundle: "..." No one here is normal!
After many years, the Cedillos finally welcomed a new member to their family.
Hansen's heart was a tumult of emotions.
Andre sat by the bed, as Mia looked up at her husband. In that moment, they had a new bond of love in this world.
"Have you thought of a name yet?" Hansen suddenly asked.
In their excitement, everyone had forgotten to ask what the little one's name would be. They couldn't keep calling him 'the little bundle,' could they?
Andre and Mia exchanged glances, their faces alight with mirth. "Honey, you can say his first name."
Just like unveiling a mystery box, no one in the room knew what surprise Andre had stored in his. He then slowly revealed the name he had been cherishing for months, "Henry."
A blessing from heaven.
Henry, he was a blessing from heaven.
Andre's love for his son was evident from the name itself.
Andre looked at his wife and asked, "What's the nickname you've thought of?"
Mia replied, "Henry. A tiger, the king of the beasts, hence called Henry, some regional folklore also refers to it as the mountain god."
The son of a tiger, of course, would be a little tiger.
