"Annie, how are things going with the Nettleton family?"

Annie, thinking her parents were asking about her engagement with Conner, replied casually, "I've talked it over with Conner. Once we find my sister, the engagement's back on track." Her parents exchanged knowing looks. "Annie, did you happen to run into that guy you used to like in Havenbrook, uh, Chad?"

Annie cut in quickly, "Mom, Dad, let's drop that. Conner would get all jealous if he knew. Plus, Chad's married now and even has a kid. It's best to leave the past where it belongs." Mrs. Martin chimed in again, "So, Annie, didn't you meet any other nice guys in Havenbrook?"

The Martins shifted uncomfortably. "There's nothing wrong, sweetheart. We're just concerned about you. Honestly, maybe it's best to keep some distance from the Nettleton family. We only want you to find a good guy and have a peaceful life. We don't care about riches or status; we just want a simple life for you."

Sensing something was off, Annie got suspicious. "What's going on, you two?"

Annie chuckled. "With Conner in the picture, even there was a decent guy around, do you think Conner would let it slide?"

Noticing her parents' odd behavior, Annie's gaze sharpened. "Tell me the truth, did my sister... reach out to you?"

The Martins looked flustered. "No, honey, she hasn't. We don't know where she is, so how could she contact us?"

"Lies!" Annie stood up suddenly. "I believe my sister's still out there. She cares too much about us. If she's alive, she'd contact you, not me. Conner wouldn't harm her, so was her disappearance a plan she cooked up?"

"No, no, Annie, we haven't seen her," her parents insisted, eyeing their daughter, the police officer, nervously.

Annie shook her head. "Stop trying to fool me. I can tell."

At the Nettleton estate, Andre leaned back on the sofa with his eyes closed. "Maja's not dead."

"She can't be. She loved Emmery too much and is probably alive just to bring me down," Conner added.

Andre remained composed. "That shipment, Maja knows where it is."

The others looked at Andre, confused by his certainty.

Andre opened his eyes. "If

something happened to me, I'd leave my trump card with Mia. To keep her safe and plan for a comeback. Conner had the Nettleton family under his thumb. If Emmery got out, he'd use those weapons to his advantage. If not, Maja was his go-to."

Mars, sitting at Conner's desk, scrolled through the Dark Web. "If Leo could get back in there and dig up those transaction records, it'd be a game-changer."

Teddy gave him a light slap on the back. "Leo's just a kid. Let's keep him out of our mess."

Andre, with his hands clasped, said, "Mars, spread the word that the hundred boxes of goods are with Asher."

Asher eyed Andre. "You're trying to pull a fast one with no risk?"

Andre shook his head. "I'm just stirring things up. Only when the water's murky can we reel in the catch." Teddy chimed in, "But murky waters are dangerous."

Andre smirked slightly. "We don't

have to dive in; we can just watch from the sidelines. Now, do you think people would believe a woman

has the goods or that the head

of

the Nettleton family, who took down Emmery, does? Everyone knows about Conner and Asher's connection."
