Austin wondered why Rhea would want to put the virus into herself if the experiment's purpose was to put people under control.

"Well, that might not be," After some thought, Austin said, "Rhea's condition is more similar, yet also different to mine."

Alexander and Mike remained quiet. The latter left the cold towel around his neck and continued to hold his cold water as if it would calm him down. The duo waited for Austin's further explanation. "Simply put, the virus inside her body acts as a catalyst for accelerating cell division and growth. It causes her cells to undergo faster metabolism."

"You're saying..." Mike said hoarsely, "Will her body rapidly swell like you experienced before? It might even split apart?"

Austin cleared his throat. Although he was sick and not in a clear state of mind, he later saw the surveillance footage from Dominic's house. Those days were not only torturous for him but also shameful. Just the thought of him running around in the yard and leaping off from the second-floor balcony half-naked made him want to jump out of the building right now. It was too humiliating for him. Austin took a deep breath and said, "More or less. However, as the female body differs from ours, the effects might differ even with the same virus. Besides, she might be using a different formula. "I'm more curious about what she's trying to achieve by experimenting on her own body." Austin became lost in thought.

'This is what intrigues me the most. We all do things for a reason, but what's Rhea trying to do? She doesn't fear death nor cares about people's lives. She could be doing this for the sake of research, but doesn't she worry about dying before producing any results?

'Won't it be pointless then? Rhea has passed out now, so I can't ask her. However, I doubt I would understand her purpose even if she told me. She's not normal after all.'

Alexander could not comprehend it either. "Then why did she do it to herself?"

"I have no idea," Austin murmured, shaking his head.

"I know!" Mike exclaimed. He looked at the two and continued, "She wants the organization to use her body instead of Lily's."

"But why?"

Alexander and Austin looked at him in astonishment.

"Because she wants recognition!" What Mike said sounded crazy, but the other two thought it made sense.

"Back in the lab, she only cared about the higher-ups' approval and whether she outperformed Lily. Rhea wants the world to be in awe of her accomplishments. Recognition is all that matters to her." After spending much time with Rhea, Mike knew her better than the other two.

"If I remember correctly, the organization needs Lily's body as a vessel," Alexander said slowly.
