Saving His Feral Mate -
Chapter 79: Attack part 1
Knox POV
The warriors Victor sent over had arrived earlier in the day. I was actually surprised by how many he sent, there were at least 150 of them. We spent a good portion of the day ironing out our plan.
I was starting to feel more confident about everything now that we had Victor’s heavy support. Our warriors definitely outnumbered theirs, even if Alec’s men somehow got involved.
If Cameron refused Preston’s challenge, we would take him out by force. One thing was certain, no matter what happened tonight he wasn’t walking out of it alive. There was a long line of us eager to watch him die.
I knew Chloe was upset that she couldn’t come with us and I understood why. She deserved the honour of killing Cameron, but I couldn’t risk loosing her. Our pack needed one of us to stay behind, that way if something happened they still had a leader. She seemed to understand that and didn’t argue with me.
Our plan was to move in after dark. We would surround Cameron’s territory and take him by surprise. Him and his men wouldn’t suspect a thing until it was too late. If all goes as planned, everything should be over and done with within a few hours.
I planned on leaving enough warriors behind in the event Alec’s men tried anything. I wanted to make sure my pack was well protected even in our absence.
I was currently in my office with the twins, Vincent, Jo, Jag, Ron and Xander. We were looking over a map of Cameron’s territory in preparation for tonight.
“I think we should split the warriors into 4 groups. If we invade from the South, North, East and West at the same time, no one should be able to leave without us seeing them.” Vincent suggested.
“Good plan. Jo, can you divide the warriors into 4 groups and make sure they know the plan?” I asked.
“You got it.” He replied with a nod.
Our meeting was interrupted when there was a knock on my office door.
“Come in.” I announced.
The door opened and Chloe, Tessa and Max walked in. Good timing, I thought to myself. I was hoping Chloe and Tessa would be able to shed some light on where we could find Cameron inside the pack house. The twins haven’t lived there in years, things might have changed since then.
“What are you guys doing?” Chloe asked, as she came to stand beside me.
“Going over our plan. I’m actually glad you and Tessa are here. Where do you think we might find Cameron inside the pack house?” I asked.
“Either in his office or his bedroom on the third floor. His office is the second door on the right when you walked into the pack house and his bedroom is the fifth door on the left when you get up to the third floor.” Tessa replied.
“We know where his office is, but the bedroom is helpful.” Parker stated.
“What about his security? Anything we should be worried about?” I asked.
“Just the border patrol. He doesn’t have any extra security measures inside the pack house. There is a safe room in the basement, but that’s about it.” Tessa replied.
“Good. Thanks.” I said and she nodded.
“I’m leaving 75 warriors behind and they’ll all be on patrol until we get back. If anything happens, I want you to call me right away.” I told Chloe.
“Of course.” She replied.
“The bunker in the basement is stalked and ready to be used. If anything happens, I want you to lock everyone in there and wait for us to get back.” I added.
“I will.” She replied. I could see the concern in her eyes as I went over the plan.
Our conversation was interrupted when Jag’s cellphone started to ring. He quickly stepped out of the room before taking the call.
“I hope that coward ends up here. I haven’t put my machete to use in forever.” Max said excitedly.
“You won’t be fighting, if anything happens here, I want you in that bunker.” Jo said pointedly, causing Max to snort.
“Ok.” She replied sarcastically.
“I mean it, Max.” Jo growled.
“I know and I said ok.” She replied, but it was pretty obvious she wasn’t going to listen.
“You guys worry about Cameron and we’ll worry about protecting our pack.” Chloe stated firmly and I was a bit surprised by her tone. I wanted to voice my disapproval of her statement, but the expression on her face told me that I wasn’t going to win that battle. I knew she was a good fighter and so was Max, but I still didn’t like it. I was silently hoping that nothing happened here and this whole conversation was a nonissue.
Our attention turned towards my office door, when it suddenly opened and Jag walked back in.
“That was one of the warriors currently watching Cameron’s territory. He said that everything looks normal and that the pack has been moving around like every other night. They’ll call if anything changes.” Jag stated.
“Good.” I replied.
“I think it’s time for us to move out.” I added.
“I’ll go split up the warriors and make sure everyone’s ready to go.” Jo replied.
“Ok.” I said before he turned his attention to Max.
“You, come with me.” He said to her, while motioning with his finger for her to follow.
“Yes sir.” She replied sarcastically, before following him out of the room.
“You guys are dismissed. I want to have a word with Chloe before we leave. I’ll meet you out front in 10.” I stated and they all nodded before leaving the room.
I took a seat on the couch and pulled her down onto my lap.
“Be safe, ok?” She said softly.
“Of course, Victor sent us a lot of his warriors so the numbers our definitely in our favour.” I replied.
“If anything happens here, please go into the bunker with everyone else and let the warriors do the fighting.” I pleaded. I didn’t want to insult her because I knew she was capable, but for selfish reasons I really didn’t want her fighting. I wanted the piece of mind of knowing she was safe.
“Listen, Knox, this is my pack too. If anything happens here, you know I can’t hide away.” She replied with a stern look.
“I know it’s pointless to argue, just be safe.” I said with a sigh.
“Of course, always.” She replied before leaning forward and kissing me.
She was about to pull away, when I put my hand on the back of her neck and held her in place. I deepened the k**s by running my tongue over her bottom l*p, demanding entry. She quickly complied and opened her mouth. My tongue met hers before they fought for dominance. It was a passionate, but demanding k**s. I silently prayed to the moon goddess that it wouldn’t be our last one.
We pulled away when we were both desperate for air.
“I have to go.” I said while panting and she nodded.
I stood up from the couch with her still in my arms and gently put her down on her feet.
“I love you, Chloe. After tonight we can finally focus on us.” I stated, as I grabbing her hand in mine.
“I love you too.” She replied softly, but I could still see the concern in her eyes.
I guided her out of my office and towards the front door.
Once we got outside, we were met by a large crowd of warriors.
“Everyone’s ready.” Jag stated, as he came over to stand beside me.
“Good. I want another 25 warriors left behind.” I replied and looked over at Chloe who had a disapproving look on her face.
“If you refuse to go into that bunker, then I’m leaving more men behind. I won’t risk your safety.” I told her pointedly. She rolled her eyes, but luckily for me she didn’t argue.
I turned my attention towards the warriors that stood in front of us waiting for guidance.
“Everyone should already be aware of their role tonight. If you have any questions, now’s the time to asked.” I announced and waited a minute to see if anyone had any questions. My eyes scanned over the crowd, but everyone remained silent.
“Good. I want everyone to shift and stay with your group. Follow your group leader and do as they instruct.” I added.
“Yes Alpha!” The warriors shouted in unison.
I turned my attention back towards Chloe.
“Stay safe.” I said.
“You too.” She replied. I leaned down and gave her one more passionate k**s.
“Hopefully I’ll see you in a couple hours.” I stated and she nodded.
I stripped out of my clothes and quickly shifted into my wolf. I gave Chloe one last look and watched her mouth the words, I love you, before I turned away from her.
I let out a deep and powerful howl, my warriors quickly replied with their own.
I took off running towards the forest and my warriors followed behind.
The sun was just starting to set as we ran through the forest and towards Cameron’s territory. I had an uneasy feeling in my gut, but brushed it off as being nerves.
As we got closer, our groups split up so that we could properly surround the territory.
My team was responsible for the North. Vincent was part of my team. Jo and Xander were with a team to the West, the twins were to the east and Jag was to the south with Ron and another group.
The sun had completely set behind the mountains as we crept closer. We waited out of sight until I got word from the other team leaders that they were in position.
Vincent and I shifted into our human forms so we could communicate, while the warriors remained in their wolf form.
“What are you thinking? I asked when I noticed the frown on his face.
“I’m not sure, but I’m getting a bad feeling all of a sudden.” He replied with a thoughtful look on his face. I guess I wasn’t the only one getting that feeling.
“Ya, me too. As soon as the teams are ready, we’ll move in and get this over with.” I replied and he nodded.
‘Knox, you there?’ Jag asked through the mind-link.
‘Ya, you guys in place?’ I replied.
‘We just got to the South and found our warriors that were watching Cameron’s territory.’ He stated, but there was an edge to his tone that made me feel uneasy.
‘They’re all dead. I think Cameron knew we were coming.’ Jag quickly added and my b***d immediately ran cold.
“What is it?” Vincent asked when he noticed my expression.
“The warriors I sent to watch the territory… They’re all dead.” I replied.
“f**k!” He cursed.
‘’ Let’s move in!’ I commanded through the mind-link. My heart was beating erratically, if Cameron knew we were coming, he might not even be here anymore. We needed to clear the territory quickly and determine if he was here or not.
As soon as the command left my lips, I quickly shifted into my wolf. Vincent did the same and we took off at a full sprint towards the territory.
It only took a few minutes before we infiltrated his land. The entire place was eerily quiet. I knew this wasn’t going to be good. We didn’t even encounter a single warrior on patrol.
My wolf was urging me to turn around and head back. I mind-linked half the warriors and told them to turn around, but we still needed to make sure Cameron wasn’t hiding.
We started to close in on the Pack house, when I got a mind-link from Jo.
‘Knox, they aren’t here. Preston and Parker just got in touch with an alliance of theirs. He’s a warrior of this pack, but his loyalty is with the twins. He said Cameron was tipped off and left 20 minutes ago with all his faithful warriors.’ He replied.
‘f**k! Tell the twins to stay here with a couple dozen warriors. Everyone else, head back now!’ I commanded through the link.
‘Heading back.’ Jo stated before the link was cut.
I shifted into my human form and pulled out my cellphone from my backpack. I quickly dialled Chloe and waited for her to pickup. The phone rang five times before it went to voicemail.
“s**t!” I cursed out loud before shifting into my wolf and taking off at a full sprint back the way we came. Vincent and the warriors were quick to follow my lead.
This wasn’t good. I silently prayed to the moon goddess to keep my family safe. I pushed myself harder than I ever had. I was beyond worried for my Luna and Pack.
