Saving His Feral Mate -
Chapter 75: A reunion
Chloe POV
After things finally settled down, I made my way over to my father, Lilly and Ron. I still couldn’t believe what had happened. Max was officially a free woman, Lilly was still alive and Alec was taken into custody. As hard as this meeting was, it definitely ended in our favour.
“How did you pull all this off?” I asked in disbelief as my father wrapped his thick arms around me.
“Well, this isn’t exactly my first time dealing with the council. You learn how to manipulate them over time.” He replied with a cheeky smirk on his face.
“What kind of dirt could you possible have on the council to make them so nervous?” I asked curiously.
“I don’t have anything on them, but it’s not hard to see that those old, corrupt bastards have some cobwebs under their beds. You just need to sound believable and no one would dare call your bluff.” My father replied with a wink and a playful grin.
“I’m impressed. Sounds like I have a few things to learn from you.” I chuckled.
“That you definitely do and I can’t wait to teach you all of my old man wisdom.” He joked.
“You’re not even old.” I argued and he shrugged his shoulders causally, as a smile spread across his face. Everything about this man melted my heart. I was so happy to have found him.
“Sorry, I’m being rude. Do you remember Liane? Or more appropriately, Lilly? She’s the one you should be thanking.” My father stated.
“Lilly, it’s nice to see you again. We can’t thank you enough for coming here today and helping with Max’s case. Goddess knows what would have happened if you didn’t bring forward that evidence.” I said before giving her a hug.
“And I’m very sorry for what you went through.” I added softy.
“Thank you and I’m sorry I didn’t come forward sooner, no one else should have suffered after me. I let my fear control me.” She replied sounding shameful.
“I think you had every reason to be fearful, don’t be so hard on yourself. What Seth did to Max, wasn’t your fault.” I replied and watched as a lone tear ran down her cheek
“Stop blaming yourself, if anyone should feel guilty it’s the council. They let us both down. You did what was best for yourself and if I had been in your shoes, I would have probably done the same thing.” Max stated as she came over to join our conversation.
“Thank you, but I’m still sorry. I sometimes wish I had done things differently. I never even said goodbye to my parents before I ran away.” Lilly replied sadly.
“What happened to your parents?” I asked curiously. I already knew her parents were Betty and Tom, but I wasn’t sure what she knew about them.
“I don’t know. A few months after I ran away, I tried to get in touch with them. I was told by a family friend that my parents went rogue after hearing of my death. I have no idea if they’re even still alive.” She admitted sadly.
“Well I think I might…” I started and was cut off by Max.
“Hey! I have an idea. Why don’t you and your mate come over for dinner? I would really like you guys to meet mine and Chloe’s adoptive family. They never officially adopted us, but they’ve been like family since we met them.” Max stated as she sent me a look, silently asking for me to play along. I knew what she was doing. She didn’t want to tell Lilly about Betty and Tom, she wanted to surprise them. I have to admit that wasn’t a bad idea. I couldn’t wait to see all of their reactions when they reunited.
“Sure, we would love that.” Lilly replied with a small smile.
“What about you, Daddy? You going to join us for dinner?” Max asked before winking at my father. I nearly choked on my own saliva at the way she said, daddy. I guess I wasn’t the only one who heard, since I heard Jo growl from the other side of the room.
“Max.” Jo warned with a glare. I had to turn my head to hide the amusement on my face. Those two always crack me up. I swear Max does it on purpose sometimes just to get a reaction out of Jo.
“What? I’m just making sure he feels included.” Max replied innocently.
“I’d love to come for dinner.” My father said with a chuckle.
“Hey Vincent, thanks for helping us out today.” Knox stated, as he walked up behind me and pulled my body against his.
“I didn’t do anything, it was all Lilly. I was just the driver.” My father replied.
“Thank you Lilly and I’m really sorry for everything you went through.” Knox said sincerely.
“It was nothing and thank you.” She replied softly.
“Her and beta Ron are joining us for dinner tonight.” I told Knox and couldn’t help the excitement that laced my words.
“That’s great. I would love for you guys to meet some of my pack.” He replied with a smile.
“How about we get going? I think we’re done here for the day.” Knox added.
“How about we get going? I think we’re done here for the day.” Knox added.
“Sounds good. We can follow you guys in our vehicle.” Ron replied and Knox nodded.
We made our way outside and towards our vehicles. Knox, myself, Max and Jo got into one of the vehicles, while Lilly, Ron and my dad got into theirs. Our warriors also piled into our other vehicles. Once everyone was in, we drove off towards our territory. I couldn’t wait to see Betty and Tom’s reaction when they saw Lilly.
“Am I missing something? Why are you and Max so excited for Lilly and Ron to join us for dinner?” Knox asked and glanced over at me curiously.
“You didn’t put two and two together, did you?” I asked and watched as a frown appeared on his face.
“Lilly is Betty and Tom’s daughter!” Max blurted out excitedly.
“No s**t! Does she know they’re staying on our territory?” Knox asked curiously.
“Nope, it’s going to be a surprise for all of them.” I replied with a smile.
The rest of the drive was uneventful, Jo and Max spent most of the time either making out or bickering about Max flirting with my father. Those two are definitely the oddest couple I’ve ever met.
Once we reached Betty and Tom’s cabin, Max and I came up with a plan. I would bring Lilly and everyone else around the side of the house, while Max knocked. Once Betty and Tom got over the excitement of Max being cleared, we would introduce them to our guests.

Betty POV
“What’s taking so long? Chloe should have called us by now. What if something went wrong?” I asked Tom, as I continued to pace around the living room.
“Betty my love, come sit down. I’m sure they’ll call us as soon as they can.” Tom tried reasoning with me.
“I hate this, I don’t trust the council. What if they find Max guilty and lock her up or worse…” I replied while running my fingers through my hair for the 100th time.
“Knox and Jo won’t let that happen. You know they’d do anything to protect her. Have some faith.” Tom said as she stood up from the couch and came over to give me a hug.
“I’m just worried, that’s all.” I sighed.
“I know my love, but try and rela…” Tom started to reply, but was cut off by a knock at the door. I immediately frowned, who could it be?
“Have a seat, I’ll go see who it is.” Tom stated, but I didn’t listen. I wanted to see who it was, so I followed him into the kitchen and towards the front door.
Tom opened the door and we were greeted by a smiling Max on the other side.
“Miss me?” She asked playfully and I immediately ran over to hug her. Tom was beside us and wrapped his around around the both of us, causing Max and I to chuckle.
“Max! What happened? Did they clear you?” I asked, as happy tears ran down my cheeks.
“They sure did. A witness came forward at the last minute and provided evidence that cleared my name.” Max replied. Whoever this mysterious witness was, I could hug them for clearing Max’s name.
“Why didn’t you call me? Chloe promised. Where is she anyway? I’m going to whoop her butt for not calling me.” I scolded.
“Settle down B. Something came up and we wanted to visit you in person instead of telling you over the phone.” Max explained and my eyebrows furrowed together.
What could be so important that they needed to tell me in person? Before I could ask, Chloe stepped into view from the side of the cabin. What really caught my attention was the woman that was standing next to her.
Was I dreaming? This can’t be true? This has to be a dream. Lilly’s dead. How could she be standing beside Chloe. I noticed her eyes widen when they met mine and her mouth fell open. Was it really her?
“Lilly was the mysterious witness that came forward and cleared Max’s name today.” Chloe said and as soon as she said my baby girls name, tears started pouring from my eyes.
“Mom?” Lilly practically whispered.
“Lilly?” Tom and I replied in unison.
Without another word, I ran as fast as my little legs would let me and I wrapped my arms around her in a bone crunching hug. Tom wasn’t far behind me and wrapped his arms around the both of us.
“I thought you were dead.” I sobbed.
“They tried to kill me, but I got away.” Lilly replied in between sobs.
“We’ve missed you so much sweetheart. I can’t believe you’re really here.” Tom added in a shaky voice.
“I can’t believe I found you guys. I tried looking for you after I left, but heard you went rogue.” Lilly replied, as we finally pulled away from the hug.
“We did, we didn’t believe Alec when he told us that you were attacked by rogues. We figured he had done something to you, so we left.” I replied, while wiping the tears from my cheeks.
“Mom, he ordered his warriors to kill me. I had no choice but to run. Alpha Victor and his men found me, I’ve been hiding on his territory ever since.” Lilly explained.
“I knew it. I’m going to kill that piece of shit.” Tom gritted out. It was rare for him to use such language, that’s how I knew he was really angry.
“The council locked him up. Hopefully he won’t ever see daylight again.” Lilly said.
“Thank goddess for Alpha Victor. Has his pack treated you well?” I asked curiously.
“Yes, they have. I actually found my mate, Alpha Victor’s beta, Ron, is my mate. He’s amazing, mom.” She beamed excitedly before motioning to a man standing beside her that I hadn’t even noticed. He had a friendly smile on his face as he nodded towards Tom and I.
“It’s nice to meet you, I’m Ron.” He stated and extended his hand to shake mine.
“Nice to meet you, I’m Betty and this is Tom.” I replied, but instead of shaking his hand I pulled him in for a hug. Everyone was chuckling at how excited I was.
I was just so happy, I didn’t know what to do with myself. My daughter was still alive and she had a mate who seemed to adore her. I couldn’t wait to hear all about them. How they met and what they’ve been up to over the past few years. I wanted to hear it all.
“How rude of me. Please, come in everyone.” I said and motioned towards the door.
I put my arm around Lilly and guided her inside.
“I still can’t believe any of this. I’ve missed you so much.” I stated and kissed her cheek.
“I missed you too.” She replied.
“You and you! This is why you didn’t call me, isn’t it?” I asked, while pointing an accusatory finger at Max and Chloe. They both put their hands up in mock surrender before chuckling.
“Maybe, did we do good or bad?” Max asked with a raised eyebrow.
“You brought me my daughter, of course you did good.” I replied with a smile.
“Thank goddess, you can be scary when your mad. I’m glad we didn’t piss you off, B.” Max chuckled and I sent her a playful glare.
“Come and sit down.” I offered and guided Lilly and Ron into the living room. They sat down next to each other on the couch and I quickly sat down next to Lilly. I was so happy to have her back in my life that I never wanted to leave her side again.
“Ok, we’re going to give you guys some privacy and go make dinner. Come join us at the pack house in an hour if you want to join us. If you’d prefer to be alone, we completely understand.” Chloe stated.
“Thank you, we’ll be there.” I replied with a grateful smile.
Chloe, Knox, Max, Jo and Vincent left the cabin so we could have some privacy. I was definitely overwhelmed, but in a good way. None of this felt real.
“So tell us, Lilly. What happened?” Tom asked.
“I’ll tell you everything, but I’m warning you, you’re not going to like it.” Lilly warned.
“We want to know. We have so many questions.” I replied and she nodded but looked nervous. Ron wrapped his arms around her shoulders in a comforting way. I had a feeling she was right and we weren’t going to like anything that she was about to tell us.
She told us everything, from what Seth did to her, to when she ran away. Tom was struggling to stay in control. I knew it would be bad, but it was way worse than I had ever imagined. I was bawling my eyes out by the end of her story. How did I not know any of that was happening? I couldn’t help but feel guilty. I was her mother and I failed to protect her.
“I know what you’re thinking and stop it. None of it was your fault. You tried to get me to talk back then and I didn’t.” Lilly said firmly, but I still felt guilty.
“I’m sorry Lilly. We failed you.” Tom stated in a pained voice, as he ran his fingers through his hair.
“Please don’t. You guys are great parents and I’m lucky to have you in my life. What happened back then had nothing to do with you. I didn’t tell you at the time because I didn’t want you to get hurt.” Lilly replied with a sad smile.
“I still can’t believe you’re really here.” I practically whispered as I ran my fingers over her cheek.
“I’m here mom and I’m not going anywhere.” She said before smiling at me.
Goddess, I’m the happy mother in the world right now. My baby girl was safe and finally back in my arms where she belonged. I’m never letting her out of my sight again.
