Saving His Feral Mate
Chapter 6: Brother

Alpha Knox POV

After my mate ran off, I had a few of my warriors attempt to track her. I wanted to know where she was staying at the very minimum, so I could find her again later.

Unfortunately, I guess she’s quite good at confusing trackers. They reported her scent was everywhere, making it almost impossible to follow. I was frustrated, I finally just found my mate and she ran away. She doesn’t want anything to do with me. Oh wait, that’s a lie, she was pretty determined to kill me, so I guess she wanted me for something.

I made Jag and the warriors that were with us, swear to keep my mate a secret, for now. I knew my parents would be outraged, when they found out my mate was a rogue. I wanted to find out more about her, before I got into that battle.

It had been a couple of days, since I found her and my wolf has been a raging maniac. Every five minutes he’s pestering me to go and look for her. I have been out looking a bunch of times, but I haven’t had any luck yet. I know if I spent all my time out there, people would start becoming suspicious.

My parents have started to question me, every time I leave the territory. I come up with excuses, but I don’t think they are buying it, I can see the suspicion in their eyes.

I made my way to the training grounds. I need to blow off some steam. I’m not going to lie, being rejected by your own mate is hard on your heart and ego. I’ve never been rejected in my life and I honestly wasn’t expecting that from the person that’s suppose to be made for me.

I reached the training ground and found Jag and one of my top warrior, Jo, short for Joseph, sparing. They stopped, when they saw me approaching. Jo was one of the warriors that was there, when I met my mate.

“You alright, Alpha?” Jag asked, with a concerned frown. I wasn’t even trying to hide my irritation at this point. I haven’t been able to sleep since I found her and my temper has been through the roof. I snap at just about anything, which is unlike me. I’m usually pretty easy going.

“I’m fine. Who wants to throw down?” I asked, while removing my T-shirt and getting ready to fight.

“Dang, Alpha. I’m feeling all kinds of tense vibes coming from ya. You know what could help with that.” Jo said suggestively, while wiggling his eyebrows. He’s a total flirt and doesn’t hide the fact that he plays for both teams. It doesn’t bother me none, he’s a great warrior and I consider him a good friend.

“You asked for it, Jo. Get over here, I’m gonna show you how it’s done.” I replied, while motioning with my finger for him to come closer.

“Now, we’re talking.” He said excitedly, with a grin on his face.

We got into our fight stances and started to circle one another. He’s shorter, but stalkier than I am. Because of his thick build, he can be a bit slower, but he makes up for it in brute force.

He was the first to lunge at me, I easily side stepped his attack, causing him to stumble forward. It didn’t take him long to recompose himself.

As soon, as he was back in his stance, I attacked him, plowing full force into his abdomen and knocking him to the ground.

“Ouff…” left his lips, as I knocked the wind out of his lungs. I tried to pin him down, but he managed to roll us over, so that I was underneath him.

“That’s more likely.” He teased, while blowing me a k**s only fuelling my irritation.

I used my legs to throw him off and while he tried to get back onto his feet, I threw my body at him, elbow first. It connected with his abdomen, as he fell backwards onto the grown. “ow” left his lips on impact. Within seconds I had him pin and unable to break free.

“I give up” he said while trying to breath. I had my forearm pressed against his throat, not hard enough to cut his airway completely, but enough to make breathing difficult. As soon as he tapped out, I released him and stood up.

“Damn Knox, you really are pent up.” Jo said, while rubbing his throat where I had applied pressure.

“You have no idea.” I replied, while running my hand through my hair, in frustration.

“What are you going to do?” This time is was Jag asking the question.

“f**k. I don’t even know. I need to find my mate soon. My mother has three she-wolves arriving this week to stay with us. She wants me to take one as my chosen mate.” I replied, while letting out a deep sigh.

“s**t, we better get looking.” Jag said. I knew he understood me. He would be acting the same way if he was in my shoes.

“Hell, I’ll take it for the team. If you need me to play interference when the she-wolves get there, just say the word. Once they sample a little Joseph, they won’t even remember your name.” Jo teased, with a stupid grin on his face. I just shook my head. I don’t think the guy has a serious bone in his body. Having said that, when it’s go time, I don’t need to worry about him. He always gets the job done.

“I’ll be sure to remember that.” I said, while rolling my eyes at him.

We continued to spar for a while longer, until I had no fight left in me. Hopefully now that I’m exhausted, I’ll be able to sleep tonight.

I left Jag and Jo and headed back to the pack house. There were a few things I wanted to look after, before heading to bed.

I got to my office and sat behind my desk, before opening a file folder that was sitting in front of me.

I started to read through it, when there was a knock at the door.

“Come in.” I said.

The door opened and my younger brother, Kyle, walked in. He’s 3 years younger then I am and has already found his mate, Sheryl. He likes to rub it in, we don’t have the best of relationships. He hates the fact that I was born first and inherited the Alpha title. I would of made him my beta, but I don’t trust him. I think he would do anything to come out on top and I can’t risk that. Since I appointed Jag as my Beta, the tension between Kyle and I, has been high.

“Brother.” Kyle greeted, with a small nod.

“What do you want?” I asked, with irritation clear In my tone. I really don’t have the patience for one of our battles, right now.

“Am I not allowed to come and see how my brothers doing?” He said, pretending to be offended by my words. I didn’t answer him, I shot him a look, a silent warning him, to get on with it.

“Someone’s not in a playful mood.” He taunted, with a smirk on his face. I wanted to reach over the desk and slap it off him. Before I could reply, he spoke again.

“Sheryl’s pregnant.” He blurted out. I could see his lips twitching upwards in a slight smirk. His eyes stayed locked with mine and he knew exactly what he was doing. I’ve always wanted a mate and a family. Him on the other hand, has been unfaithful to his mate since the day he met her, two years ago. She’s a sweet but submissive girl, that would never question her mate, no matter what. It’s actually heart breaking to watch. She deserves so much better then him and he treats her like s**t.

“Congratulations.” I replied, between gritted teeth. I was trying to keep my true feelings in check. It was proving to be difficult, especially now that I found my mate, who happens to want nothing to do with me. Will I ever have my own family, I wondered?

“Thank you. How about yourself, brother? Any luck finding that fated mate of yours?” He asked tauntingly. He doesn’t know that I actually found her and I don’t plan on spilling my secret, not yet.

“Actually, mother is bringing in a few she-wolves this week. I may take one as a chosen mate.” I replied, trying to make it sound believable. I really have no intentions of taken a chosen mate, not now that I found my fated one, but he doesn’t need to know that.

“Good. I look forward to meeting these lovely ladies.” He replied with a mischievous smile. If I know my brother, he’s going to try and sleep with all of them. He’s a disgrace, I thought to myself.

“Oh, I came here to invite you to dinner on Friday. We will be celebrating the baby news. The whole family will be there. I sure hope you can make it, brother.” He said, in an overly sweet voice. I knew he was trying to rub it in. I kept my emotions in check, i didn’t want him to think he was getting under my skin.

“I’ll be there.” I replied shortly.

“Great, see you Friday.” He said, before standing from his chair and leaving my office.

When I knew he was out of earshot, I slammed my fist down onto my desk, causing the wood to splinter. My frustration hit an all time high. Tomorrow I’m going to find my mate, I swear to the moon goddess, I’m not coming home until I at least lay eyes on her.

I got up and walked over to the filing cabinet, where a bottle of scotch sat on top. I poured myself a stiff drink, before downing it in one shot.

When I find my mate, I won’t let her reject me. Not until she gives me a chance to prove my worth. Why is she ignoring a gift from the moon goddess? Thinking about it infuriates me. I sure hope I can change her mind.
