Saving His Feral Mate
Chapter 38: You will accept the rejection

Chloe POV

I silently followed Knox and Sheryl down the stairs that lead to the dungeon. Knox was in Alpha mode and seemed focused on the task at hand. While Sheryl, well, she seemed bored with life and didn’t seem interested anything other than silence.

I still can’t believe she was going through with this, I was so proud of her. Kyle was a disgrace and I’ve had a bad feeling about him since the first day we met. I secretly hoped that he would accept the rejection and leave the pack so we never have to see him again, but I know that’s probably wishful thinking.

We reached the bottom of the stairs and turned down a dark and dingy hallway. The air was cold and stale, it smelt like human waste and rotting flesh. I crinkled my nose in disgust, but continued down the hallway trying my best to breath through my mouth.

I noticed cells lined each side of this hall and they all appeared empty, except for the very last one.

As we approached, I noticed Kyle in the corner sitting on the ground. He laughed dryly when he noticed us approaching.

“Look what we have here, if it’s not my sad excuse of a brother, pathetic mate and one of the rogue whores.” He said bitterly, from where he sat. I was about to reply, when Knox piped up.

“You’re going to shut your mouth and listen, that’s an order.” Knox growled and the aura radiation from his command nearly knocked me to my knees. He was pissed and I couldn’t help but find him sexy in that moment.

Kyle scoffed, but knew better than to defy the Alpha command. Instead, he glared between the three of us, stopping his attention for a few extra minutes on Sheryl. I saw the anger in his eyes as he glared at her, he was silently promising her that when he got out, she would pay for having him locked up. Little did he know, his submissive little mate wasn’t so submissive anymore and she had a little surprise in store for him.

I glanced over at Sheryl and saw her looking as cool as a cucumber, with not a worry in the world. Seriously, I’m going to visit that doctor after this, I want some of whatever he gave her. I joked to Tatiana in my head and she laughed.

I heard voices coming from down the hall, before Jo, Jag, Max and a couple warriors round the corner and made their way towards us.

“We didn’t miss anything, did we?” Max asked, as she came to a stop beside Sheryl.

“Nope, we just got here.” Sheryl replied calmly. Max looked at Sheryl with furrowed brows, clearly noticing that Sheryl was unusually calm given the circumstance.

“Good, I was hoping we didn’t miss the show.” Max chirped, before turning her attention to Kyle and sending him a knowing smirk. He didn’t say anything, but glared back at her.

“Kyle, what you did to your mate and unborn pup is disgusting. I won’t tolerate that type of behaviour in this pack. The doctor said that Sheryl could have miscarried because of your actions. How could you do that to your unborn baby?” Knox asked and the disgust was clear in his tone.

“You’re blowing this out of proportion. The baby’s fine, right? So why don’t you stay out of our business?” Kyle spat back defiantly.

“It’s not fine and everything that happens in this pack is my business.” Knox seethed and paused for a second before continuing.

“I’ve made a decision on how you will be punished. Sheryl helped by giving her input on the matter…” Knox started, but trailed off when Kyle laughed loudly and a smirk spread across his face. He probably thought the same thing we all did, that Sheryl would beg for her mate to be release, even downplay his actions. Oh boy, things are about to get good. I thought to myself.

“As I was saying, Sheryl only had one request when it came to your punishment and I think this part should come directly from her.” Knox explained and motioned for Sheryl to join him by the bars.

Kyle had a cocky grin on his face and was still sitting casually in the corner. Sheryl approach Knox and stopped when she was standing beside him.

“I won’t let you hurt my pup…” Sheryl started but was cut off by Kyle.

“OUR pup.” He corrected.

“Let her finish.” Knox growled and gave him a warning look.

“Thank you, Alpha. Like I was saying, I won’t let you hurt MY pup and I have nothing else to say except for this. I, Sheryl Johnson, of the Volcano Pack, reject…” she started in a monotone voice, but before she could finish, Kyle sprang to his feet and stormed towards the bars.

“Don’t you f*****g dare finish that sentence.” He warned, his face now only inches from hers. The rage in his eyes was intense and he was doing his very best to intimidate her. But once again, Sheryl met his glare with a bored look. I had to stifled a laugh when Kyle’s mouth fell open at her reaction, the look on his face was priceless.

“What the hell did you do to her?” He barked, turning his attention to Knox.

“You’re going to let her finish and then your going to accept the reject.” Knox gritted out, leaving no room for argument. They glared at one another for a few minutes, before Kyle turned his attention towards Sheryl.

“I, Sheryl Johnson, of the Volcano Pack, reject you, Kyle Black, as my mate.” She said calmly and immediately after the words left her lips, Kyle grabbed his chest and fell to his knees. He hissed in pain, while clawing at his heart.

Sheryl was completely unaffected, her face was neutral and not a single emotion could be seen in her eyes.

I glanced over at Max, who had more than enough emotions on her face to make up for the lack of any in Sheryl. Max was practically smiling like the Cheshire Cat, she was definitely enjoying the show.

I turned my attention back to Kyle, who was on all fours gasping for air. He was looking towards the ground and drool was pooling below him. I have to admit, I can understand Max’s reaction. The pain he was in was quite satisfying. I didn’t have an ounce of pity for the man.

“I won’t accept it.” He croaked out, before laughing dryly. His eyes remained locked on the ground and all though he tried to sound firm, his voice was full of pain.

“You will accept the rejection or you’ll stay in this cell, that’s part of your punishment.” Knox replied sternly and once again, I couldn’t help but find him sexy. His voice was full of authority and he was radiating with power. It made my core throb and sent a shiver of excitement down my spine. I’m not going to lie, I kinda wish he would throw be over his shoulder and drag me up to his room. Sadly I was brought out of my dirty thoughts, when Kyle spoke up.

“You can’t make me reject her, she’s carrying my pup. The rejection could cause them pain.” He argued, while still gasping for air.

“The baby will be fine, the doctor gave her something to help with the pain. Now, do the right thing and accept the rejection.” Knox replied.

“You can’t keep me down here, I’ve done nothing wrong.” Kyle once again tried to argue. He had managed to sit back on his legs and was now looking intently towards Sheryl. It was clear he was still trying to intimidate her, but it wasn’t working.

“I can and I will. If you don’t accept the rejection, you’ll remain in this cell until after the baby is born and then we will reassess.” Knox explained firmly.

I saw something flash across Kyle’s face, but couldn’t quite make out the emotion, it was gone almost as fast as it came. He glared at Knox before turning his attention to Sheryl.

“I, Kyle Black, of the Volcano Pack, accept your reaction, Sheryl Johnson.” He said and an evil smirk spread across his face at the end, clearly expecting her to buckle over in pain from the rejection. But she didn’t, if she felt any pain at all, she certainly didn’t show it. She turned her attention towards Knox before speaking.

“I’m tired, do you need me here anymore?” She asked in bored tone.

“No Sheryl, your part is done. Go get some rest and I’ll check on you in a bit.” Knox replied. Sheryl nodded her head and without sparing another look towards Kyle, she made her way down the hall.

“s**t, what doctor did she see?” Max asked and I couldn’t help but laugh. I knew exactly what she was thinking, the same thing I had joked about early.

“Now, for the rest of your punishment.” Knox said turning his attention towards Kyle.

“You will present yourself at the pack hospital every Monday morning at 8:00am to receive a shot of wolfbane. You will not be allowed to shift for 2 months and if you fail to attend any of your appointments, you’ll be locked up. Do you understand?” Knox asked.

“Yes.” Kyle gritted out.

“Once you are released, these warriors will escort you to your apartment so you can pack your belongings and move out. You are to stay away from Sheryl and the apartment, is that clear?” Knox asked.

“Crystal.” Kyle once again gritted out. His eyes were full of rage, but it was mixed with the pain that was was still coursing through his body.

“Good.” Knox said, before motioned towards one of the guards to unlock the cell door.

“I’d just like to point out how good you look on your knees, it really suits you. You look both, weak and pathetic.” Max mocked.

“Shut up w***e!” Kyle spat back.

“w***e? I’m not the one on my knees.” She scoffed.

“Enough.” Knox said, while shaking his head in frustration.

“Ok, fine.” Max faked a pout and paused before adding.

“I have a newly single she-wolf to go celebrate with anyway. I can’t wait for her to be blessed with a second chance mate, someone worthy of her love.” She taunted, before sauntering down the hall. I couldn’t help but smirk at her vindictive words. Kyle growled but didn’t reply, knowing damn well she had the upper hand.

“I’m going to check on Sheryl with her, if you don’t need me?” I said to Knox.

“Ya go, we’re almost done here. I’ll come find you later.” Knox replied with a soft smile. I returned the smile, before following Max out of the dungeon.

“That was epic, Sheryl was a total boss down there.” Max said excitedly when we reached the main floor.

“Ya, but we’ll have to keep a close eye on her, something tells me that Kyle isn’t the kind of guy to just let things go.” I replied with a frown.

“Let him try, I’d be more than happy to end him the same way I ended my first mate. For some reason he reminds me a lot of that sadist.” She replied and I didn’t miss the venom lacing her words. It made me wonder what her first mate put her through. She’s never really talked about it.

“You know Max, if you ever want to talk, I’m here for you.” I said softly.

“Thanks Red, but I’m all good. I just want to see assholes where they belong, six feet under.” She replied, her voice had a bitter edge to it.

I could tell she wasn’t all good, but I didn’t push the matter. I just hope that one day she opens up, if not to me, maybe Jo.
