"Our boss told us to treat you right, Mr. Grayson, so don't even think about turning us down!" one of the thugs said.

Ethan had the deck stacked against him, but he kept his cool like a lone wolf in the wilderness.

"So, you're working for Holden, huh?" Ethan asked. "That sly old fox. Are you guys here to strike a deal, or did he want me six feet under?"

The bald thug let out a nasty grin. "You don't have to worry about that. Our boss said to give you a special treatment, and that's all you need to know."

Ethan shot him a sneer, his eyes narrowing. "Oh yeah? Let's see who's actually getting the special treatment!"

Without missing a beat, he lunged forward like a blur of black lightning, instantly taking down two huge guys.

"Nice moves, Mr. Grayson!" the bald guy said, clearly surprised, before bursting out laughing. "But we've got numbers on our side. Do yourself a favor and give up before things get worse." Then, he waved his hand, and the rest of the thugs rushed at Ethan.

Ethan frowned slightly but dodged their punches and kicks like it was nothing. Still, no matter how good he was, there was no way he could take on all of them forever. Before long, they wore him down, and bright red stains started spreading across his white shirt.

Meanwhile, I was on edge, practically biting my nails. It was way past late, but Ethan still hadn't returned. What was he thinking? Unless something bad went down...

That thought hit me like a sucker punch. I grabbed my phone to call the police when the door suddenly flew open. Ethan staggered in, all bruised up and bleeding. "Ethan!" I gasped, rushing to help him sit down on the couch. "What happened? Who did this to you?"

He wiped the blood off his lips and gave me a half-smile. "Holden, that old creep, sent his thugs to treat me right Don't worry about it, though-I already sent them packing

I pulled him into a hug, feeling heartbroken as tears streamed down my face.

"Trust me, Evelyn. Holden and his men are all show and no go. I've got my way of handling them," Ethan said.

I stared at him, confused. "B-But Grayson Group is done for. How are we supposed to bounce back?"

Ethan flashed a confident grin. "You actually think I'd just cave like that? Plus, Evelyn Studio's still kicking ass."

Then, he laid it all out for me. He'd caught wind of Holden and Alexander's plot against Grayson Group long before they made a move, so he'd already been ready.

He'd seen through the power-hungry shareholders and executives but went with their betrayals because of their stake and influence.

And that board meeting? That was

all part of Ethan's plan. The first step

was to bring out the snakes and reveal their true colors, and the second was to take them down in one clean sweep.

The whole thing of him leaving Grayson Group was just a smokescreen. Behind the scenes, he had already launched Illumia Group. The name said it all-he and I were meant to shine together, lighting the way for each other.

Ethan moved all his connections and key contacts into this new venture. Then, he quietly moved his loyal and reliable followers out and set them up with better opportunities. As for the traitors? They weren't even worth a second thought.

By now, Illumia Group was ready to roll. Holden and Alexander had fallen right into Ethan's trap. Ethan was planning to let them choke on what they thought was their sure win.

My eyes widened at his words, my jaw nearly hitting the floor. After a beat, I mumbled, "Ethan, y-you've been secretly doing all this..."

He poked my nose with a fond smile. "I didn't want you stressing out. And come on, a surprise like this isn't so bad, right?"
