Rewriting My Heart's Fate (Ethan and Evelyn) -
Chapter 462
"Thank you for spending the day with me." I smiled at Ethan.
He nodded. "I'm glad you enjoyed it. It's nice to have some time alone with you and learn more about you." His voice was gentle, like a calm river.
My heart skipped a beat. These were words that Ethan of my past life had never said to me. But today, I saw nothing but deep and unspoken affection in his eyes.
Could it be that he had truly changed?
Lost in thought, Ethan suddenly leaned in and placed a soft kiss on my forehead.
"Get some rest. Good night. Call me if you need anything."
With that, he turned gracefully and disappeared into the night.
I stood frozen in place. My fingers gently brushed the spot where his lips had been.
My heart raced. Was this the right moment? Was it time to put on that ring?
The next morning, I dove headfirst into work. I was about to open the first international store in Lendora, and preparations were in the final stages.
As the lead designer and project leader, I was running between the studio, the store, and supplies every day. The hectic pace helped distract me from the storm of emotions swirling in my mind. That was, until one day, Kevin came to see me.
"Evelyn, Tony Burtt, the editor-in-chief of Lady magazine, wants to meet you for a meal. He says there's something important he wanted to discuss."
"Tony Burtt?" I was taken aback. Why would the renowned fashion mogul suddenly want to meet me?
"Did he mention what it's about?" I asked.
"No." Kevin shook his head. "But... he did mention Mr. Grayson."
My heart skipped again. What could Ethan possibly have to do with this?
I took a deep breath and nodded. "Alright, arrange it for me. Just tell him that I'm available whenever."
Three days later, I arrived at the restaurant Tony had chosen. It was an exclusive, high-end restaurant with tight security. Ordinary people couldn't get in.
I was escorted to a private room where Tony was already waiting for me.
"Ms. Wiley, welcome." He raised from his seat to greet me and shook my hand warmly.
"I've long heard of you, the CEO and chief designer of Evelyn Studio. It's a pleasure to meet you in person."
I smiled modestly. "You're too kind, Mr. Burtt. I'm just a beginner. I don't deserve such praise."
After a few pleasantries, we took our seats. The server poured us some wine, and Tony raised his glass in a toast.
"I must admit, I'm curious why you wanted to meet me, Mr. Burtt," I said.
Tony didn't respond immediately. Instead, he studied me with a look that seemed to carry some hidden meaning.
"Ms. Wiley, Jet me get straight to the point." He set his glass down. His expression turned serious. "I know your relationship with Mr. Grayson isn't just professional."
My heart missed a beat, and I forced an awkward smile. "Mr. Burtt, Mr. Grayson and I are simply business partners, nothing more."
"Business partners?" Tony raised an eyebrow. "Then, are you aware that Mr. Grayson is about to get married?"
"What?"
Ethan was getting married? But just last night, he kissed me when we parted.
"That's right," Tony said coldly. "Mr. Grayson's fiancée is Vivian Albright, the daughter of the Mars Group This marriage was arranged months ago. Hasn't he told you?"
A wave of dizziness washed over me, and my head began to spin.
How could this be?
I struggled to keep the tears at bay. My voice trembled as I asked, "Where did you hear this? And how can I be sure you're not just trying to deceive me?" Tony sneered. "Of course, it was someone close to Mr. Grayson who told me."
With that, he pulled a photo from his
pocket. It showed Ethan and Vivian walking down the street together with their hands intertwined. They looked very affectionate with each other.
