Return Of The Prodigy
Return of the Prodigy Chapter 89

The house was so quiet that you could hear a pin drop.

The reporters kneeling outside the residence, the musicians, and top chefs opened their eyes wide in surprise as they turned to look at the family. Under all the strange stares, the family felt exposed, as if stark naked. They were utterly embarrassed and angry, but they were unable to retort. Adam was absolutely right. All of them had played a part in humiliating Katie today.

Dave struck the floor with his walking stick hard.

Bam!

"Terry, apologize to her!"

"Dad, how could you..."

Bam!

"I told you to apologize!" roared Dave furiously.

A furious Terry stomped his foot before saying through gritted teeth, "I am sorry."

"You too. Everybody has to apologize!" Dave yelled yet again. "Katie, we are very sorry. We have misunderstood you." He took the lead.

"I am so sorry!"

One after another, they all lowered their heads to apologize.

Katie could not believe her eyes as she watched the sight unfold. For a moment, she thought she must be dreaming. However, this incident served only to show the true colors of the family. Just moments ago, these people had humiliated and mocked her. Yet, every single one of them had lowered themselves and apologized.

Were they genuinely sorry for the verbal abuse? Had they really repented their ways?

Certainly not.

They were just doing it because the reporters were present! They did not want the family reputation ruined! They were worried they would lose the company for good, so all they cared about was money! They only cared about monetary gains. "Adam, I am tired. Let's go," said Katie sadly.

"You..." Matilda was about to shout, but her voice stopped abruptly.

The family glared at her angrily. If Matilda insisted on keeping Katie here, they would throw Matilda out.

Matilda promptly remembered the mistake she had made earlier and shut her gap.

However, Daniel surprisingly said, "Katie, the misunderstanding has been clarified. Why don't you stay for dinner?"

Everybody turned to look at Daniel in astonishment

Daniel smiled confidently, appearing like he knew what he was doing.

What is Daniel trying to do? Does he still have something else up his sleeve?

The members of the family kept speculating to themselves.

Dave, Terry, and Matilda were in the know about Daniel's backup plan, so they instantly connected the dots upon his peculiar behavior.

Daniel always knew what he was doing. He was an intelligent man, so he would never commit the same mistake as Matilda. Since he had taken the initiative to keep Katie here, he must be very confident about his plan. "Feel free to stay if you like," Dave instantly chimed in.

The Hartleys members, seeing their patriarch speaking up, felt relieved. What was there to worry about? They began persuading Katie to stay.

"Yes, stay with us."

"After all, we're all family, and misunderstandings can be clarified."

"Yes, today, we spent a lot of money to hire a band and chefs to celebrate for Daniel. Katie, stay and enjoy it with us."

Katie frowned, feeling a bit confused. She didn't expect that the Hartleys members would want her to stay. Did they genuinely realize their mistake and want to make amends?

Or... were they planning to humiliate her in some other way?

Katie didn't know whether to stay or leave and couldn't help but turn her head to look at Adam.

Adam calmly said, "Since it's everyone's goodwill, then stay for a while longer. Just hope they won't regret it."

"No regrets, no regrets," the Hartleys members repeated.

"Alright, I'll stay," Katie nodded in agreement.

She hadn't noticed when it started, but she found herself instinctively looking to Adam for guidance when she felt at a loss. It was a sense of reliance and security that was growing stronger in her life. "Hehe, since Miss Hartley is staying, I won't disturb you further."

"I wish Miss Hartley a pleasant time."

Noah took his leave.

"Thank you, Minister Denver, for solving the problem," Katie expressed her gratitude.

"No trouble at all, no trouble at all," Noah said before turning to leave.

At this moment, Daniel spoke again, "Minister Denver, since you're here, why not stay and have a drink with us?"

The Hartleys members were once again surprised.

What was Daniel up to? They were more inclined to see Noah and his group leave as soon as possible. If it weren't for them, the situation wouldn't have turned out like this.

Fortunately, Noah immediately declined, saying, "No need, I have other matters to attend to. I'll take my leave."

Noah could see that the Hartleys was a troublesome place, and the members were a bunch of fools. Staying longer might lead to more complications.

The Hartleys members were slightly relieved as Noah left. The tension in the atmosphere began to dissipate, but the aftermath of the day's events lingered.

Noah hurriedly left the villa. Outside, the journalists who had been kneeling were dumbfounded. "Minister Denver, what about us? Do we continue kneeling?" Noah impatiently waved his hand, saying, "Go, go, go. If you don't want to die, get out of here."

The journalists, feeling as if they had been granted clemency, quickly got up and rushed into their cars, making a hasty exit.

Daniel, coming out of the villa, had initially thought of keeping a few journalists for the next act, but to his surprise, they were fleeing for their lives.

Seeing the journalists disappearing one by one, the Hartleys members finally breathed a sigh of relief. The tension in the atmosphere began to dissipate. The music resumed, and the chefs resumed their work.

"Mom, I'm hungry. I want to eat this," Annie pointed to the dessert on the table.

Adam smiled and picked up a piece, placing it in the little girl's palm.

Just then, a loud rumbling of car engines echoed from a distance. Two cars soon arrived and parked in front of the Shen residence.

The Hartleys, who had just started to relax, once again felt their hearts race. Who else could be coming now? Was the drama not over yet? Could they not enjoy a decent meal? Daniel, on the other hand, seemed to be blossoming with joy. Matilda's eyes flickered with a venomous light.
