Return Of The Prodigy -
Return of the Prodigy Chapter 74
Entering the room, Adam saw a woman sitting on the sofa. She dressed very modestly, with a pale yellow complexion, appearing even older than Gemma.
Next to the woman was a girl in her twenties, extremely beautiful. There was a faint resemblance between her facial features and Katie. She had dyed brown long hair, big curls at the ends, light makeup, and wore a bright red dress, looking dazzling and fashionable. The girl kept her head down, playing with her phone, displaying a clear trace of impatience on her face.
Is this the graduate from a prestigious university who demands an annual salary
Adam spoke, "Mom, I heard there were guests at the door, so I came in to say hello."
"No need, just hurry up and leave," Gemma immediately urged him to leave.
"Sis, who is this? Why are you driving him away as soon as you meet... Wait, did he call you 'Mom'? Is he Katie's husband?"
Amanda jumped up from the sofa, staring wide-eyed and disbelieving, "He's that lunatic?"
Gemma's face quickly turned as dark as the bottom of a pot.
This useless guy is embarrassing me again.
Adam, however, wasn't angry. He politely greeted, "You should be Aunt, right? Hello, Aunt, I'm Adam, Katie's husband." Amanda frowned, "I've heard about you."
On the sofa, the girl who had been playing with her phone glanced at Adam, sneered, and continued playing with her phone.
Adam didn't know her name because during his marriage to Katie, no relatives or friends attended, so he didn't recognize her.
"Enough, enough. Greetings are done, quickly go about your business," Gemma urged again.
However, Amanda suddenly said, "Riya, stop playing. Take a good look. In the future, don't find a husband like him. He looks strong, but who knows if he's crazy."
"Mom, what are you talking about? How could I find someone like him? I'm not blind."
"Right, right, our Riya is the smartest. Unlike your sister Katie, single-minded and brainless, insisting on living with a lunatic."
"Sis, not to offend you, why don't you let Katie divorce him? Isn't this ruining Katie's life?" Amanda continued.
Gemma was embarrassed and nodded repeatedly, saying, "It's almost done, almost done. We'll divorce soon."
"Divorce is the right thing. This kind of thing shouldn't be delayed. The sooner you divorce, the sooner you'll be at peace. By the way, what's your name? What do you do now?" Amanda asked. Adam was already accustomed to these words, and he didn't need to argue with a mother-daughter pair. So, he wasn't angry.
"I just came back two days ago; I haven't found a job yet."
"No job? Aren't you living off others? I have to say something about you. Although you're brainless and uneducated, you should at least find some physical work on a construction site." "Why are you, a grown man, not ashamed?" Amanda sneered.
Adam smiled, "Aunt is right. I'll look for a job in the next few days."
Amanda snorted, "Young people should work honestly. Don't always think about pie in the sky. Look at my daughter. She graduated from a prestigious university and isn't arrogant. She still has to work, right?" Speaking of this, Riya couldn't help but speak, "Oh, have you finished talking? I've made an appointment to go out with classmates."
"Oh, let Katie arrange a job for me. The kind that doesn't require clocking in every morning, and I can leave whenever I want. I need time to find a boyfriend."
Amanda immediately changed her tone, "Right, sister, hurry and call Katie. This child is too rude. I, as her aunt, have come in person, and she still hasn't rushed back."
Gemma's face turned awkward, "Katie is busy, after all, she's in charge alone..."
"Busy? Is that an excuse? Is work more important, or is her little aunt more important? Now, make her quickly arrange a good job for my daughter so she doesn't waste my daughter's time." Amanda interrupted. Gemma said with a troubled expression, "Sister, there will definitely be job opportunities, but your requirements... can they be lowered a bit?"
"I know Riya graduated from a prestigious university, but earning several hundred thousand a year... Katie hasn't reached that level yet."
As soon as Amanda heard this, she immediately became unwilling.
"Sis, what do you mean? Are you trying to avoid arranging a job for Riya?"
"Katie is in charge of such a large project, with projects worth billions. Is several hundred thousand a year too much?"
"I said, I let Riya come to help you because we're relatives. Many companies are begging for Riya to join, and she doesn't want to go."
Gemma was speechless under the retort, looking at Trey with a flushed face.
However, Trey didn't understand what she meant at all and didn't know how to ease the embarrassment.
Adam couldn't listen any longer and spoke up.
