Return Of The Prodigy
Return of the Prodigy Chapter 40

Katie hurried back to the company, rushed into her office, closed the door, and tears, as large as beans, instantly streamed down her face

She wanted to cry out loud, but was afraid of others in the company hearing her, so she could only silently sob with her mouth and nose covered.

Squatting on the floor, her shoulders kept trembling, tears smeared her makeup, wetting her cheeks, yet unable to wash away the grievance and anger deep in her heart. Again!

It was again because of Peter!

She really wanted to rush to Peter immediately, give him a hard slap, and loudly question why he would do this? What benefits does it bring to the company and the Hartleys family? Just to kick her out and snatch away her project?

Is she not making money for the Hartleys by handling this project? Even though they are family, why is it more vicious than dealing with competitors or enemies? Katie felt more and more aggrieved, tears uncontrollably streaming down her face, and her eyes quickly swelling.

Meanwhile, in the general manager's office, Peter stared at the time repeatedly, furrowing his brows and muttering, "It's about time that woman should be back. Why hasn't she come begging me?"

"Did she fail to sign the contract, so she's too scared to come back?"

"Or did she go to Robert for help?"

Damn it!

Peter couldn't help but curse. This wasn't the result he wanted. He was waiting for Katie to kneel in front of him, willingly enduring humiliation and torment. He had already planned out the methods he would use. "No, I can't just wait. I need to check!"

Peter stood up abruptly, walking downstairs to Katie's office.

Bang!

Peter kicked the door open and was greeted by the sight of Katie crouching on the floor, crying with a look of helplessness and grievance.

So, she's hiding here to cry. Peter was overjoyed; he had achieved great satisfaction.

"Hey, why isn't Manager Katie busy with her responsibilities? Why are you crying alone here?" Peter sarcastically said.

Katie looked at the sudden appearance of Peter, and the next moment, her eyes were filled with anger.

She had endured so much injustice and humiliation. Instead of seeking Peter out for a confrontation, he had come to taunt and mock her. What did he think she was?

A slave to be bullied at will? Let him humiliate and ridicule her however he liked?

Katie trembled with anger. At this moment, she really wanted to jump up, slap Peter in the face, kick him, and preferably beat this bastard to death. But...

She couldn't!

She couldn't risk her parents and her daughter!

She couldn't give Peter any excuse to drive her and her family out of the Hartleys!

"Manager, why aren't you saying anything? And what's with that expression? Why are you glaring at me with such resentment? Are you planning to bite me?" Peter taunted with a sneer.

"Didn't you go to sign the contract? Couldn't get it done? You are the project manager personally appointed by Robert. Who dares to disrespect you? The project is about to start, you need to hurry up. If it affects the project schedule and makes my grandfather angry, do you know the consequences?"

"I've said before that not anyone can handle this project. Now, how does it feel?"

"However, since we're family, if you have difficulties, you can ask for my help. As long as you sincerely seek my assistance, I will definitely help you."

Peter's face was filled with a brilliant smile, stepping forward with each sentence. He was thoroughly enjoying this sense of revenge, not wanting to stop. "Katie, stop resisting. Honestly recognize your identity."

"There are so many useless people in the world, and you're just one of them. Why struggle? Why insist on making trouble?"

"As long as you kneel down and beg me to take over this project, I'll forgive your previous disrespect."

"Be a good employee, and I guarantee that the Hartleys will support you for a lifetime. After all, you can't eat much, not even as much as my dog."

"Katie, what are you waiting for? Crawl over here and kneel down, beg for my forgiveness!"

Peter, head held high, hands behind his back, arrogantly said. At this moment, he was like an emperor high above, and Katie was just a servant to be exploited!

"Peter! Don't push your luck!" Katie shouted.

She bit her lip tightly; her teeth had already broken the skin, and blood oozed out. She wanted the pain to remind her to stay calm and not impulsively fall into Peter's trap.

Peter was now eagerly waiting for her to act, giving him enough reason to openly kick her out, along with her entire family.

"Hehe!" Peter chuckled. "Pushing my luck? I didn't feel that. I think I've been quite lenient with you."

"Otherwise, considering what you did to me before, you should have died ten times over by now."

"Katie, I advise you to think it over. Robert can help you for a while, but he can't help you forever. No one in this world can save you!"

"Now, Grandpa in the Hartleys has the final say, but he listens to me. In the future, the Hartleys will listen to me. Do you have the qualifications to oppose me? In the next few decades, I can make your family suffer every day!" Peter sneered, brimming with confidence.

Katie felt the road ahead becoming darker, a sense of despair overwhelming her!

However, at this moment, a cold, chilling voice, as if from the Nine Nether Hell, echoed.

"If you want to die, I can grand your wish!"
