Return Of The Prodigy -
Return of the Prodigy Chapter 21
Dave's face turned red!
From the standpoint of seniority, as an elder, he naturally couldn't kneel to a junior! But as the head of the Hartleys, if he didn't kneel, once Paul Booker really came to settle accounts with the Hartleys, the family would be ruined! Dave was in a dilemma, extremely conflicted! Of course, what he found even harder to accept was, who exactly was Adam? Before this, Mr. Allen had helped him, and then Robert Byron had stood up for him. Now, even Paul Booker was kneeling before him!
Mr. Allen represented the government. Robert Byron represented the business world. Paul Booker represented the underworld. The government, business, and underworld, all three worlds were actually helping Adam. Was Adam really a useless person? In an instant, Dave's mind was in turmoil. The next moment, he sighed heavily. For the sake of the Hartleys, he could only swallow his pride. Dave slowly bent down, about to kneel on the ground... Just then, a pair of strong and powerful hands held him up! Dave was stunned, raised his head, and surprisingly, it was Adam! Adam's voice was icy, "Don't ruin my daughter's birthday. Take the people of the Hartleys and leave!"
Dave's face stiffened. He wanted to say something but couldn't find the words. However, he knew he had to do as Adam said. Adam had already given him enough respect. If he didn't know what's good for him, he would be asking for trouble! Dave nodded, heading towards the exit. Matilda lowered her head, pushing the wheelchair to leave.
However, at this moment, Adam's gaze fell on her. "Except for you."
Matilda trembled in fear, suddenly raising her head to stare at Adam hysterically. "Adam, don't push it too far!"
Adam coldly commanded, "Kneel!"
"You..." Matilda was so angry that her whole body trembled. "Grandpa, Dad... can't you say something for me?"
Dave pretended not to hear, walking faster towards the exit. The members of the Hartleys followed suit, not even Matilda's father hesitated as well.
Matilda felt like crying but couldn't shed tears. She called out to the heavens, but there was no response, called out to the earth, but it remained indifferent!
"Adam, you won't have a good ending!!" Matilda cursed Adam with resentment. Then, with a fierce push, she left the wheelchair and knelt on the ground. Saying the harshest words, doing the most submissive actions!
After the Hartleys left, everyone in the hall knelt on the ground at that moment. Except for Robert Byron.
Robert Byron snorted coldly. "I've told you earlier, it's your arrogance. Now it's too late for regrets!"
Paul Booker took the lead and shouted, "Apologize to Mr. Adam!"
Everyone shouted together, "Sorry, Mr. Adam, we were wrong!"
Adam remained expressionless. "Apologize to my daughter!"
Again, everyone shouted together, "Sorry, Annie, we were wrong!"
Annie lay in Katie's arms, her gem-like eyes shining as she looked at her father.
"Annie, are you happy?" Adam asked with both tenderness and affection.
Annie nodded fiercely. "Yeah, Dad, hug. Dad, I love you."
Seeing his daughter finally smiling, Adam's anger dissipated somewhat.
Holding Annie in his arms, Adam turned to his wife. "Let's go."
After saying that, leaving behind a hall full of kneeling people, he left with his wife and child.
Paul immediately got up and followed. Before leaving, he threw a sentence, "Kick all these people out. If anyone dares to provoke Mr. Drake again, I'll take your lives!"
Then, like a loyal follower, Paul personally led Adam's family to the top-floor presidential suite using the elevator.
"Wow, Mom, come quickly... there's a huge pool here, the water is so clean, can Annie drink it?"
"Dad, what is this?"
"Such a big TV, such a soft sofa... Annie will sleep here at night, and there's this pillow too."
With the attraction of new things, Annie gradually forgot the unpleasantness from earlier and became lively again.
"Annie, don't run around. Mom will take you for a bath first," Katie said tenderly.
"You two go ahead. I'll go buy a few sets of clothes for you," Adam said.
Katie shook her head, "I brought changing clothes with me..."
"Forget about those. Since there's a pool here, I'll buy you two swimsuits. You accompany your daughter, take a break, and teach her how to swim," Adam said without hesitation, heading out the door. Katie stood in place, silent for a few seconds, feeling an unprecedented emotion surging up.
"Mom, Mom, are you going to teach Annie to swim? Annie wants to learn, wants to learn," Annie said excitedly, dancing with joy.
"Alright, alright, Mom will teach you," Katie smiled, a deep sense of happiness overflowing on her stunning cheeks.
Adam left the hotel and entered a nearby mall.
Kids' clothes, gotta get 'em!
Women's apparel, gotta grab some!
Shoes, yep, need those too!
School bags, toys, can't forget them!
Finally, Adam made his way to a swimsuit store, snagging two sets for Katie and Annie. Just as he was about to pick out some jewelry for Katie, Annie called.
"Dad, Dad, are you back? Hurry, Annie wants to learn to swim."
"Yeah, yeah, Dad's on his way."
After a quick thought, Adam tossed in a set of skincare products for Katie before heading back to the hotel.
As for jewelry and rings...
Sigh!
Adam let out an inward sigh. What he owed Katie wasn't just a set of jewelry, a ring, but also a proposal and a grand wedding...
Even though Katie didn't explicitly express it, when she saw Amelia's proposal party at the Western restaurant earlier, Adam still caught a fleeting sense of envy in Katie's eyes.
Hold tight, Moon. Once I wrap up these odds and ends, I'll give you a wedding fit for the century.
I want you to be the happiest bride in the world!
...
Back at the hotel.
The moment Adam walked in, Annie, wrapped in a towel, leaped at him like a little cat.
"Wow, Dad, you got so much stuff. What's this? Is it Annie's new clothes? But Annie already has clothes to wear..."
"Dad, this backpack is so pretty. It must have cost a lot of money."
"Hehe, this is Mom's clothes, but the fabric is so little..." Annie took out one of Katie's swimsuits.
Katie's face blushed slightly, coquettishly saying, "Do you still want to learn to swim? Mom will go to bed soon if it's too late."
"Learn, learn, learn... but, but Annie doesn't know how to wear it..."
Adam affectionately rubbed Annie's little head.
"This is yours, this is Mom's. Go to the inner room and let Mom help you change. Be a good girl. Try on the new clothes after swimming..."
"Okay, okay, Mom, come quickly."
Annie ran into the room with the clothes.
Katie hesitated slightly, whispering, "I, I won't change. I'll just wear this outfit."
Even though she and Adam were married, except for that one confusing night six years ago, the two still felt like strangers. Asking her to wear such revealing clothes suddenly made her a bit uncomfortable.
"Uh, I get it. The swimsuits I got for you are pretty modest. Don't worry, besides, Annie can't wait any longer... If you feel shy, I can wait outside," Adam said.
"Mom, hurry up," Annie urged.
"Coming, coming," Katie walked into the room.
5 minutes later, the door opened.
Annie ran out joyfully, wearing a cute floral swimsuit in shades of pink and blue. As she danced around, the little skirt fluttered up and down, making her look like a fairy dancing among flowers. She exuded her unique innocence and purity, and her laughter echoed like the most beautiful melody in the world...
Adorable and lively!
It made people unable to resist hugging her tightly and giving her a hearty kiss.
Then...
Adam Drake couldn't resist and indeed planted a kiss on her forehead.
"Hehe, Daddy... Is Annie's swimsuit pretty?" Annie giggled.
"Looks good, Annie is the cutest," Adam Drake said contentedly.
"Hehe, no way, Mommy is even prettier, Mommy Mommy..." Annie shouted.
"Here I am."
Katie responded with a sound, and her jade-like feet gently lifted as she slowly walked out the door.
A graceful figure slowly appeared from the door, after numerous calls and shouts, she finally emerged.
