Return of the Prodigy Chapter 187

Adam was about to go back to Hartley Group when he suddenly received a call from Lucas.

"Rabbit, I recall you mentioning your wife is the president of the new Chamber of Commerce, right?"

"Yeah. What's up?" Adam asked quizzically.

Lucas sighed and said, "Nothing. I met this crazy guy earlier. I was looking for office space today. We had already agreed on the price, but they added a new clause to the sale contract. If we want the space, we have to join the Chamber of Commerce. Otherwise, they won't sell the property!"

Adam was nonplussed.

Is the competition between the old and new Chambers of Commerce that fierce? They are even trying to force brand new companies with no background to join the chamber.

"It's fine. I can find some other location. Talk again," said Lucas before adding, "Oh yes. I have contacted some of our old allies, we can expect them in a day or two."

Adam acknowledged before asking, "Who owns the property you were talking about?"

Since the owner of the property was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, he was curious to see who it was! He had promised Katie not to get involved in these matters, but this was technically his personal matter, right?

In reality, he loved his wife dearly, so he paid extra attention to this incident.

"I think the company is called Cruz Corp," Lucas replied casually, "and the owner is a fatty. What's the matter? Do you know the guy?"

Adam was caught by surprise.

This is quite the coincidence.

"I just saw him moments ago. I want to talk to him anyway, so I'm coming over. Can you wait for me there?"

Lucas paused briefly before he said teasingly, "From the sound of it, you want to tackle him. Are you really up for this? Don't embarrass me, okay?"

Adam laughed coldly and replied, "You can't do anything about him, but I most certainly can!"

Lucas paused briefly and replied, "I seriously suspect you're making this up completely!"

Adam felt deeply annoyed. He retorted angrily, "I'm driving now. Hanging up!"

Adam arrived at Cruz Corp thirty minutes later.

Lucas and Sandra were waiting in the lobby. Adam greeted them before heading upstairs.

After informing the receptionist of his arrival, the three of them went to Lionel Cruz's office.

The moment Adam entered through the door, Lionel was stunned. He said sternly, "How dare you chase me to my workplace?"

Adam sat on the couch nonchalantly as he said coldly, "You owe my daughter an apology. If I tell you who I am, you'll live to regret ever doing this shit."

Lucas raised his brow uncontrollably.

Adam sounds very confident. Does he really have a high status that I know nothing of? Lucas looked at Adam in astonishment.

Lionel narrowed his eyes and sneered, "Do you have some death wish? You might be friends with Ryan, but I'm not afraid of you. I have the support of the Camdens. If you value your life, you should make yourself scarce. Otherwise, I'm going to break your legs and crack your balls. Do you want Katie to live like a widow for the rest of her life?"

Adam raised his brow and said coolly, "I suggest you watch your words. Otherwise, you will more than regret it."

Lionel scoffed and smiled sinisterly as he said, "Do you really think you're some bigshot? Since you are so eager to die, I'm happy to help the Camdens finish you off! Men!"

In a blink of an eye, hurried footsteps sounded at the door.

Lucas was stunned. He said to Adam anxiously, "I think you have gone too far with this."

Adam glanced at him and asked mildly, "How much did you offer him for the office building?"

Lucas did not understand why Adam was asking this. He frowned and replied, "11 mil!"

Adam nodded. He looked at Lionel and sneered, "Didn't you keep saying that my daughter was lying? Didn't you insist I was lying about my identity? You had better take a good hard look for yourself! I bet you have never seen a general's ID before!" The moment he finished his sentence, Adam flung something and an object came flying at Lionel intimidatingly.

Lionel was terrified. He thought Adam had just attacked him with a concealed weapon, so he quickly dodged.

The object landed on the table with a thud!

Lionel froze when he saw the object lying on the table. It was an ID with three shiny gold stars on it. It was so bright that he nearly got blinded by them.

Startled, he reached his hand out and picked up the ID to check if it was legitimate. He seemed a little scared, and his hands could not help trembling. It was just an ID, but it felt immensely weighty. He was so anxious that he had trouble breathing.

A second later, Lionel changed his mind about the ID. He raised his head and looked at Adam as he chuckled. "Did you get someone to make this for you on your way here? How much did you spend on it? 10 bucks or 20? I must say, it's detailed. You even bothered to ensure that it looked well used. Unfortunately, I am not afraid of this bullshit."

As his words landed, security guards swarmed into the office.

"Break his legs, crack his nuts, and throw him out!" Lionel gave his orders without hesitation.

The security guards promptly went to attack Adam.

Lucas got scared. He quickly went up to Adam and said, infuriated, "I thought you were really a big shot for a moment there. Were you just bragging? Did you have to implicate an innocent bystander? Whatever it is, don't hit my face, okay?"

Adam kicked Lucas angrily before he retrieved a gun from his waist. He pointed the black gun muzzle at Lionel and laughed coldly. "I know you suspect my ID is fake. What about this then? Does this look fake to you as well?"

In an instant, everyone in the office went dumbstruck!

The security guards that were coming for Adam quickly halted in their steps.

Lionel also froze stiffly!

Lucas was astonished by the outcome. He kept looking at Adam in awe.

No one expected Adam to pull out a gun. Also, the gun looked legitimate and seemed like the real deal.

Even though Sandra had a meek personality, she was unusually calm in comparison. She had witnessed what Adam was capable of with her own eyes. The man was able to ruin the Moodys and Banks effortlessly. Lionel froze for a few seconds before snapping out of his shock. He pointed at Adam and stammered fearfully, "Yo-you..."

Even after stammering for some time, Lionel was incapable of uttering a complete sentence.

Adam said mildly, "Why are you afraid? Why don't we make a little bet? If you think this gun is fake, I will fire at you. For all you know, this is just a water gun, right?"

Lionel's face instantly flushed. He was terrified and felt ill at ease.

"If you say nothing, I will assume you're in on the bet." Adam placed his finger on the trigger as he spoke.

"No, don't!" Lionel cried as he trembled uncontrollably. He could sense coldness coursing up from his legs and rushing to his head.

"I believe you..." said Lionel as he gritted his teeth.

He would never dare to take the gamble. Just what if the gun was real?

Adam pursed his lips and asked coolly, "Didn't you say my daughter was lying?"

Lionel said miserably, "No, she didn't lie."

Adam asked, "Are you selling the building then?"

Lionel replied desperately, "Most certainly!"

Adam continued, "Did you mention you have the backing of the Camdens?"

Lionel shook his head and said, "No, I'm with the new Chamber of Commerce. I'll quit the old one immediately."

Adam finally put away his gun, shook his head, and said, "Nope. You'll stay in the chamber to spy for me."

Lionel was stunned.

Adam continued, "What are you waiting for? Sign the damned contract!"

Lionel promptly snapped out of his daze and shouted to the secretary, "Show the way. Mr. Carter needs to sign the contract!" Lucas did not feel like leaving now. He said with intrigue, "No hurry, right? I want to stay and watch."

Lionel went speechless.

Adam frowned and said sternly, "Just get it done."

Annoyed, Lucas pursed his lips as he walked out of the office with the secretary.

"As for you lot, get lost! You are not to breathe a word about this to anyone," shouted Lionel to the security guards.

The security guards left the office in shock.
