Rejected, but not Broken
Chapter 78

Tanner’s POV

We made our plans and we exited the meeting room to go and grab some food really quickly, but I am too wound up to eat. I am so worried about Gabi, and I have to stop myself from wondering what they have done to her.

Heath is with me when I get a mind link from Gabi. I grab Heath’s arm and motion back to the meeting room with my head and we head back to talk in the soundproof room.

She was OK, they didn’t hurt her, and she is actually on her way right now. They kept their word, and I relaxed as I heard her talk.

I relayed what she said to me to Heath, and he is furious. This could have ALL been avoided by just allowing him to accept the rejection, but Alpha Lowell believed that Piper would get weaker with receiving it.

We have a problem now because Derek may have already relayed information to Piper, and she WOULD have already told her dad. I need to find out how much Derek told Piper because if Gabi gets hurt because Alpha Lowell decides to show up and kill Anthony, he could shoot Gabi as well.

He has shown how much of a lack of compassion and care he has. His only focus will be to get rid of the problem, so we need to find a way around this.

I step out into the hallway and head to the dining room. I see Derek and Piper eating together and she is texting her as*s off at their table. I head to Alan and calmly tell him what the problem is, and then Alan and I go to Derek and Piper’s table. I get his attention and ask him to come with us for a minute and we head back to the meeting room.

“What exactly did you tell Piper?” I asked him.

“I told her that Gabi had been kidnapped by the rogues and that she would be getting returned to Red River at 9 pm, and that she and I were supposed to be at the gate as well for Gabi’s return,” Derek told us and was frowning as if he couldn’t understand what the problem was. He will.

“Piper’s dad and your dad are the reason for the attacks. The Omega that she rejected is the leader of the group. Alpha Lowell was the reason for the high number of deaths as he started shooting at them when they were delivering another letter of warning.

Your dad and Alpha Lowell have know this whole time who was behind it, and a lot of people have died because Alpha Lowell didn’t want Piper to be available for the rogue to accept her rejection.

He believes that it will make Piper weaker. If she told him, he will be coming and if Gabi gets killed by Alpha Lowell trying to take the Alpha Rogue out, we are going to have a big problem” I told Derek.

“Why would she tell him? She isn’t involved in it?” Derek said.

“She never leaves the packlands right? Rarely leaves the house, only for our training sessions, right?” I tell him and I see when the lightbulb goes off.

“Let’s go check her phone, she has been texting her as*s off, we need to stop them. Alpha Lowell will get us all killed. We have to stop them” Derek said, and I nodded at him.

“Yes, you need to go get Piper and bring her in here. We will make new plans so, no one will be killed. Alan, go get Alpha Black as we will probably need his warriors, and more of them now. I will link Gabi and tell her for them to show up later, at 10 pm and not 9 pm, so we can get ready.

Do not let Piper know any of the new plans, we need to relieve her of her phone and put her somewhere where she cannot contact her father” I told them, and everyone agrees.

Derek leaves to go get Piper, and Alan leaves to go get Alpha Black. Alpha Heath sends a mindlink for the team to come back to the Meeting room, and to bring Stone with them. We need a change of plans, ASAP, and we won’t make them until Piper has been secured.

Alpha Black showed up with 5 warriors, one of the leaders of each group. The warriors took the chairs around the edge of the room and Alpha Black sat down at the table.

The door opens again, and it is Hudson, Easton, Jameson, and Stone re-entering the room. A few minutes later we hear a lot of noise at the door and the door flies open with Derek trying to wrestle Piper into the room. Derek is furious and has her phone in his other hand.

“She locked it, she saw me coming back to her, and she locked it,” Derek told the group. Everyone is not up to speed, and I don’t have time for the bullsh!t. I walked up and told Piper,”I, Tanner Wright of the.

B***d Rose pack, Alpha Command you to answer my questions as they are asked of you”

Piper’s eyes go wide and she nods at me.

“Piper, did you tell your father about when the meeting is tonight?” I asked her.

“Yes, I told him all that Derek told me,” Piper tells me.

“What is your phone password code?” I asked her.

“My birthday, 8903” Piper tells me, and I can see she is really mad at me for forcing her to tell us. Derek unlocks the phone and starts reading the texts from tonight out loud. Piper did tell her dad about the meeting at the gate, and that Gabi was with her Omega mate, and they would be here at 9.

I know that Alpha Lowell is already mobilizing right now. Then Derek reads her last text to her father, out louder to our group.

“Since Gabi will be out there with Anthony after you kill him, go ahead and kill her too. Derek is still attracted to her, and she is a risk to our plan as for whatever reason he still has an attachment to her. I still need Derek to mark and then mate me fully so we can go ahead and kill him off and take over their pack.

Alpha Monty getting arrested helped us out a lot, dad. We will get both packs under us soon”

Piper’s text reads, and the room is silent. Piper was just playing dumb, and we all fell for it.

Goddess, help us, they were planning this the whole time, Derek thought he was the one who had the big plan, but it turns out Alpha Lowell was the mastermind behind this all. I could kill him and Piper with my bare hands.

Piper is now fearful, and she should be because Derek is growling his as*s off, and I hit him in the arm and told him to settle down. We need to make some changes and fast. Alpha Black had two of his warriors take Piper to the next room over and watch her, it had no phone, or computers in it and we need the element of surprise with her dad.

She also had silver handcuffs on, courtesy of Alpha Heath, to keep her from mindlinking her dad to warn him. We already knew with what Piper had relayed that everyone at the Gate had a target on them and that Alpha Lowell would kill everyone at the Gate, except Piper.

Alpha Black had his men start sending out three hundred of the warriors he had brought to get into trees and into position now, around a quarter-mile perimeter of the gate. It takes a little over an hour to run across the land from the River Bed pack to the Red River pack.

They would not have time to drive it. They would just be leaving now and be in place by 830, so we would have the jump on them and surprise them, by the time that Gabi and the rogue Alpha get here, so would the Werewolf council, as Heath and Alpha Black had thankfully requested them when we found out that Gabi had been kidnapped.

So, when Alpha Lowell shows his hand, it will not just be caught on video, it would be eye-witnessed by two members of the werewolf council, as well. If Alpha Lowell didn’t comply and ends up getting killed, then just Piper and Luna Lowell would be tried for what had been planned, all the agreements and treaties would be out the window now, and Derek would end up getting their pack.

No wonder they refused to make a deal when Derek was scared of the loss of life they had sustained. Their whole plan was to get Piper in here and then kill him. Derek will have gotten the double pack that he wanted so bad, but he wouldn’t have to be with Piper to do it anymore.

I know he would be happy about that, but I hope the realization of the fact that Piper and Alpha Lowell, and most likely Luna Lowell, all planned against him, for him to die. I hope he makes some BIG changes in his packs now and realizes that if he does get a second chance mate now, to hold her close to him, and love and value her, no matter her ranking.

Gabi told me that they would wait and were stopping now to grab something to eat at a local diner, and assured me that she was OK. That they had given her back all her stuff, her gun, and her vest, so she was ready to pick people off as soon as she got to Red River as well.

She told me that they had a driver and that the rogue Alpha, in a show of faith was coming with his younger sister, and wanted us to protect her at all costs because if he can’t get the bond broken with Piper, he is OK with them killing him, as he doesn’t want to go on living with the pain that he has been dealing with.

I can see why she and Taylor are such good friends, Piper had us convinced with her playing dumb that she was not a threat or a problem. She really had us confused with what all that was happening, that she had no clue what was going on when actually she helped plan it.

She is quite brilliant to have come up with it, as I see her and her father hand-in-hand in this. I bet she met him at Alpha Training and told her dad who she had met, their plan was great and was almost successful.

We are just going to have to see what happens when their plan gets changed up, I am kind of hoping that their plans are shot all to hell. I bet Piper is actually more skilled at fighting than she let on, just messing up deliberately to continue to lull us into disregarding her. Because I tell you, it worked.

You could see the surprise and stunned faces in the room, she had us all fooled and that made her more dangerous than Taylor because Taylor didn’t try to hide the fact that she is a bad she-wolf, but Piper did. She is obviously much more cunning than anyone knew.

I linked Gabi back with what we had found, and that Piper had basically told her dad to take Gabi out when she got here. I know Gabi was mad because it took her two minutes to link me back. “I want to deal with Piper myself when I get there after we deal with Alpha Lowell” Gabi tells me, and I told her that I didn’t think that would be a problem.

This whole thing was about to be a sh!t-show, thank the Goddess that the rogue Alpha took her to tell her what was going on, so this could all be prevented. It also explained why she was the “perfect person” for him to tell. She was, she knew exactly what kind of pain that he had been going through.

The pain of being told that you were not enough for the other person when the Goddess deemed you perfect for them. I am so glad that my “perfect person” was coming back to me tonight because I wasn’t going to do well trying to sleep without her.

I will help Derek as much as I can, as he really needs to make effective changes in his packs, I can help him with it. I just need to make sure he realizes that Gabi’s is off-limits for him from now on.

Stone already figured out why Gabi’s accepting the rejection had not worked and we will take care of that tonight at the gate as well. I don’t like him being moon-eyed over her, He made his choice and rejected Gabi, he can’t back-pedal trying to get her back.

I think he will be happier about it as well, well he eventually will be. I know I will be happier about it.
