Chapter 54

Tanner’s POV

Gabi takes off, and I don’t know what I said, but Heath shows up two minutes later and starts showing me how to use the paintball gun. He is brief and brisk with his answers, and I know he has spoken to Gabi, as he showed up shortly after she left.

He won’t tell me where she is, or why she ran off. After the third time I asked him, Heath lowered the gun and looked at me, and asked me, “Are you SURE you have no idea why she would run off?”

“No, I have no clue. I already told her that I would be getting with dad to get his advice tomorrow about what to do” I told Alpha Heath and the look that hit his face let me know that I had better be thankful that he likes me because he is mad.

“So, just to clarify. You told your Luna, that you would not take the advice that she gave you, because you wanted to talk to your dad about it. Did I get what you just told me right, son?” Alpha Heath asked me. I didn’t see that, I never realized that I had done that. I feel terrible.

“I need to speak to Gabi. I will apologize for what I said, I wasn’t thinking. So much has happened, and things keep happening and it is keeping us apart.

My focus is all over the place and every spare moment I had available was in training to try to get on your team, so I can go with her to protect her at Red River” I told Alpha Heath.

“Son, I am afraid that you will have to wait until later, probably after you get to speak to your father, like you wanted to, back at your pack. But if you want some advice from me, I have some to give you” Alpha Heath tells me.

“Yes, I would like some advice, I love Gabi, and I have upset her. All I want to do is love her and take care of her. To be the best mate that she could ever want, but it seems like I cannot do anything right.

I didn’t want Dana coming with me, but I wanted to get here to see Gabi, so I allowed her to come. I wish I had argued about it.

I wish Dana hadn’t taken my cell phone and turned it off, so I didn’t get Gabi’s texts” I told Alpha Heath and I growled in frustration.

“Tanner you are a good man, and I know you want to protect Gabi, you can trust her and the team to keep her safe. They do their job very well.

Did you actually stop to consider what Gabi said to you? What she asked was not a lot or even a mean thing to do. It was for you to clarify with Dana, and actually, I think she is the mole too, and it could prevent what Taylor has planned from coming to you.

But instead of doing that you literally questioned Gabi’s honesty by asking her if she was “sure” that was what she heard. Gabi has been hurt enough and she needs to be loved and taken care of.

That girl has had broken bones, and Tala couldn’t even come out, because of how much she had to do and give of herself to heal Gabi.

I think you need to think about how badly you have to have been hurt to not even have your wolf be able to come forward. To not even be sensed as even being present. I know you mean well, Tanner, but Gabi is just trying to protect her heart from what she KNOWS is coming.

Nothing has been good for her, sometimes things seem to be going right for her, and then boom, it blows up in her face. You not being willing to do the small thing she asked, she knows now that you do not consider her to actually be your Luna.

It was a slap in the face, you did well with your shooting Tanner. Gabi wishes you well tomorrow, but she will not be there. Ask Von where your new room is, as Gabi will not be back to the packhouse tonight” Heath tells me and turns with Gabi’s stuff and walks away.

I sit down on the ground, and I honestly don’t know what to do anymore. The last five weeks have been so stressful, and I need to have Gabi with me, and it hits me then.

Everything that has happened has been designed to keep us apart. Gabi was right, this has to be Taylor’s work. She is the only one who wants to keep us apart. I am going to take care of this right now.

I go into the packhouse and find Heath to see if we can use his office, as I need to Alpha command Dana and question her. Alpha Heath nods and motions me towards the stairs so I can call Brock and Dana and have them come to Heath’s office.

I want Brock there as well as a witness, but I am also going to record this as I have a feeling that I will need it for proof. Alpha Heath sees me setting up my phone on his desk and then motions to two cameras, one behind me and one behind him, and an audio port sticking out from the ceiling of his office right above the chairs ! am sitting in.

I will still make my recording too, as they can get it from different angles, and it is always good to have a backup as well.

I then mindlink Brock and Dana to come to Alpha Heath’s office. They showed up and as predicted Dana drops into the chair next to mine, exactly where I set my cell phone up to record. Brock drops onto the couch and gets comfortable.

I heard the lock click into place and I realize Alpha Heath is all business, and I need to learn from him as well. I nod at him, and I see Dana and Brock now looking at me, as they are both confused as to why we are all locked in here together.

“Dana, I have a few questions, so we came in here to get some privacy while we talk,” I told her.

“Sure Tanner, anything for you,” Dana tells me and settles back into her chair. Brock leans back on the couch again as I think he realizes that he is just the unfortunate witness to this, and although not happy about it, he is ok with participating, as his Alpha wants him there.

“Dana, did you tell anyone where the breaks in the patrols would be for someone to get on our packland?” I asked her.

“No, Tanner, I would never let someone onto our packland.” Dana told me.

“Are you friends with Taylor Wilson?” I asked her, and she looked away from me, and then looked back before saying, “I know of her, but we aren’t friends”.

“Did you allow Taylor, or someone working for Taylor onto our packland?” I asked Dana.

“No, I didn’t. I hope you are done, Tanner? This is complete bullshit. I would never deliberately hurt our pack. You know that I love you, and the B***d Rose pack” Dana tells me and puts her hand on my knee. I pull my knee away and tell her, “OK, Dana.

I, Alpha Tanner Wright, Alpha command you to answer my questions as I ask them of you, and I compel you to answer them truthfully to me”. I see Dana’s eyes grow large and she then nods her head, and we start again.

“Dana, did you allow someone onto our packlands, or tell them where and when the break in the patrols would be?” I asked Dana.

“Yes, Tanner, I did,” Dana tells me, and I am now completely angry and frustrated. I see the shocked look on Brock’s face as well, as he thought that she could be trusted too. I do not see surprise on Alpha Heath’s face, he already knew, and I see him write something down in his notebook and then turn it to me to ask the question.

“Did you plan with Taylor to ruin mine and Gabi’s relationship?” I asked her.

“Yes, Taylor had given me a potion that she got from a dark witch, it would have made either me or her, whoever was there with you, after you drank it, would appear to be Gabi in your eyes. Gabi would have felt the betrayal from us having s*x, and she would have then rejected you.

Then you could choose your true love, me, or Taylor, now that you are free of Gabi” I felt disgusted at their plan. Gabi was right in her feelings about this. I could have betrayed my mate, without intending to, and I feel like I am going to be sick at how far Dana and Taylor would go.

I am going to war with Crimson Shadow, but first I will be taking this blatant violation of plotting against my Luna to the Werewolf counsel to get the approval I needed, then we WILL be going to war.

I heard Dana’s phone ring and I asked her, “Is that Taylor?” “Yes, it is, Alpha” Dana answers. “Answer the phone Dana, on speakerphone. Get Taylor to say what you two are planning. DO NOT tell her you are under Alpha command, even if she asks” I tell her.

“Hello?” Dana said. “Hey, are you still at the Ever Green pack?” Taylor asks Dana. “Yes, we are still here. Tanner’s testing isn’t until tomorrow” Dana said. “See if you can cause problems between them while you are there. Gabi needs to be taught a lesson for taking my boyfriend away from me.

She has obviously got him under a spell and only our spell can stop her spell. So, make sure that you give it to Tanner when you get back to the B***d Rose pack.

I am OK with you being the one to get to sleep with Tanner, but I will be jealous of you” Taylor tells her, and I know she is acting like she is doing Dana a favor, but Taylor knows that whoever breaks us up is dead.

Taylor is just having Dana do her dirty work. I write down a question and I point toward the notepad for Dana to read it. “Are you sure Taylor? I mean you told me that he was your boyfriend before Gabi took him from you. I don’t feel right taking him away from you, we can always let him choose between us, once we get rid of that stupid Gabi” Dana tells her.

“I will be coming back into your pack soon Dana, I will call you and you can just let me know where I need to meet you again. I bet they are chasing their tails about how I am getting onto the packlands, but they can’t catch me” Taylor said and then starts laughing.

Taylor continues, “I hate Gabi so much and I WISH I could see the look on her stupid face when she feels Tanner betraying her.

She deserves everything that she is going to get”. “I will talk to you later Taylor,” Dana tells her and ends the call. I am so glad Taylor decided to call while I was questioning Dana under Alpha Command. This has been the only piece of luck I seem to have caught lately. I know how I need to end this.

“Dana, I Alpha command you to never tell Taylor that I know what is going on and that I know about your plan. Just agree with whatever she says and get her back on my parkland, when she calls you back. But do NOT under any circumstances tell her that we know she is coming. I need her back on my packland.

I need you to contact me whenever she comes back onto our land. Do you understand what I am Alpha commanding you?” I asked Dana.

“Yes, I understand, and I will not tell her,” Dana tells me. “Before I release you from Alpha command, I need to you dump out whatever is in that vial, do you have it with you?” I asked her. “No, I left it in my room on the top left-hand side of my closet,” Dana told me. I mindlinked my mom and told her what Dana had done, and where the vial in question was.

Mom linked me back and told me she had it in her possession. I told her to dump it, but mom has a friend that is a witch, and mom wanted to know who Taylor had paid to do this horrible betrayal for the Luna of our pack. I am OK with punishing them as well.

I cannot believe that Taylor was able to pull this off, but it occurs to me that I started this ball rolling by sleeping with Dana in the first place. That I was so jealous over Gabi being around her first mate, and that Jack guy, that I never considered me being around someone that I had slept with, might hurt her too.

“Dana, do you love me? Is that why you rejected your mate?” I asked her. “No. I do not love you, but I enjoy having s*x with you. I just wanted to be the Luna. I always have” Dana tells me.

“Dana, you will return to the pack with me and Brock and act normally. Do not tell anyone of the Alpha command, or that you need to get Taylor onto Land” I instructed her.

“OK, Alpha,” Dana tells me. I look at Brock and he holds his hands up at me in a sign of peace and said, “I am not going to say anything to anyone until I have to testify for the werewolf counsel”. I nod in agreement and then excuse them both from the office. I need to speak to my dad, and to Alpha Heath privately.
