Rebirth of the Prime Dragon Master -
Chapter 877 We're Being Followed
"You should go back with me first. I have to verify something, but it may take some time to prepare,” Alyssa demanded, thinking that this was a good chance. Now that Rocky had shown his face again, the riddle of her curse was likely to be solved, and she would never give up this opportunity.
"Do I even have a choice?" Rocky protested. Although he didn't know what Alyssa was up to, it wasn't her style to be so nice to him, so he could not help but feel suspicious. She could be hiding something from him.
"No, you can't go anywhere else right now! Just follow me quietly. If I see that you have even the slightest intention of running away, I will break your legs,” Alyssa warned him with a glare. "Of course, if you obey me, I won't make things difficult for you. I will even allow you to leave as soon as I figure out what I want to know. That way, you can go back to the Holy Dragon Empire if you want..." Alyssa's tone softened after she met Rocky's defiant gaze as if she was beseeching him to cooperate with her.
'She wants something from me, ' he guessed. “Otherwise, she would not treat me so politely.’
"I'll take your silence as an agreement then,” Alyssa continued with a glance at Rocky, who was thinking hard
"I don't have the right to say no, do 1?" Rocky's lips curled in a wry smile. He was lucky enough to be kept alive after he was seized by Alyssa. If she didn't want to kill him, he might as well obey her for the time being and wait to see what exactly she was up to. Besides, he still had work to do. He needed to meet with Woods to arrange his plan.
Alyssa only threw a heated glare in his direction but did not acknowledge his words. Just as she was about to make her spirit-manipulated beast fly towards her manor, which was located in the northern suburb of the capital, a burst of maniacal laughter surrounded them, echoing louder and louder with each second that passed by. It was followed by an aura of a powerful creature.
As soon as Alyssa sensed the powerful aura, a look of alarm flashed across her face. Rocky frowned as well.
Shortly after that, two figures raced after them from the southwest.
"They must be from the spiritual race,” Rocky guessed, for as far as he knew, only the spiritual race could fly. However, they hardly appeared in front of humans, so he was confident that there was an important reason that had brought them here right now. But at the same time, he knew that it had nothing to do with him.
Rocky looked at Alyssa and found that she was looking quite grave.
"Damn it! These two fellows keep on pestering me all the time!" she cursed irritably, glancing at the two figures who were fast approaching. She looked down at the ground as if she suddenly had an idea, and she was met by the sight of a thick forest not far below them. Without hesitation, she made her spirit-manipulated beast dive towards it.
"Who are they? Are they coming for you?" Rocky asked curiously.
"You don't need to know that,” she responded coldly.
However, Rocky could tell from her expression that those two were dangerous creatures who came to make trouble.
Alyssa's spirit-manipulated beast swooped down fast, and a moment later, it charged into the forest with her and Rocky on its back.
The two figures who were running after them followed them down at a close distance.
As soon as they landed inside the forest, they dismounted quickly from the spirit-manipulated beast. "If you want to stay alive, follow me closely,” said Alyssa without looking at Rocky. Then, she began to run into the thick forest at full tilt.
Rocky still ran after her, even though he wasn't sure where she was going because he knew that it would be safer to stay close to her. He suddenly remembered that he had seen the spiritual race before. It was in the Myriad Beasts Ground where he met the Dark Lord, who was a member of the Ghost Master Clan and also the former owner of the Sea Blue Magic Jade. Although the Dark Lord was only a low-level member of the Ghost Master Clan, he was as strong as a human being at the Divine Stage. From that example, it was not hard to imagine how powerful the spiritual race was, and judging from their immense power, he did not blame Alyssa for being spooked out by those two figures.
He guessed that the two people from the spiritual race that were chasing after them must be extremely powerful. 'I'd better follow her closely. It's safer that way, * Rocky thought to himself as he ran after Alyssa.
They moved forward in the dense forest with quick but silent movements, and neither of them tried to speak. Every once in a while, they turned around to check whether they had gotten rid of their tail.
"Are you sure that you don't want to tell me why the spiritual race is chasing after us? Or rather, chasing after you,” Rocky asked Alyssa, unable to contain his curiosity anymore.
"What's the use of letting you know? You can't help me, instead, I have to protect you. It's so troublesome. And I can't believe they still won't give up,” Alyssa replied grumpily with a glare at Rocky, as she racked her brains to figure out a solution.
"It's you who brought me here,” Rocky protested with a bitter smile. "Watch out!" Alyssa suddenly shouted before pushing Rocky to the ground in a hurry. Then they collided with each other, landing heavily on the ground.
Bang! A blazing, orange spiritual light hit the spot where they had been standing just now, as something exploded with overwhelming force. The explosion was so powerful that it blasted the surrounding trees into ashes, and the thunderous noise shook the earth beneath their feet. However, before Rocky realized what had happened, Alyssa had landed on him. He felt the softness of her body in his arms, and his nose was filled with a whiff of her womanly fragrance.
After a short pause wherein she was too surprised to react, she hurriedly got up from the ground. Her cheeks were delightfully flushed. And for a moment, Rocky was distracted because she was a woman who was normally cold to men. It was strange to see her acting so shy. And if it were any other man who touched her as Rocky did earlier, although it was no fault of his, he would have been killed as soon as their skins touched.
Rocky was just about to get up when she shushed him with one hand and pressed the other against the ground.
"Distort the space and help hide us.” Alyssa whispered the spell hastily. A unique spiritual power burst from Alyssa's hand and spread on the ground quickly, and strange runes rippled around them like cobwebs. In the next breath, the environment within a ten-meter radius transformed as if the previous place did not exist.
Hardly had the change taken place when those two from the spiritual race arrived. They looked around for the trace of Rocky and Alyssa who were hiding only several steps from them.
