Which was why Travis and Mary had the advantage of being in the limelight. According to the information collected by the Cao Clan, the Qi Clan was planning to appoint the three beast curers that defeated the Cao Clan three years ago. If the information was correct, the Cao Clan would possibly have an advantage in the next battle because the three beast curers that the Qi Clan selected were not very powerful. The Cao Clan lost to the Qi Clan that year only because it had lacked the necessary talented beast curers.

The Cao Clan also realized their weak points later on and, as a result, painstakingly recruited Yang— a well-known beast curer in the Timber Deity Empire. Then, they proceeded to look for clans that were skilled in beast curing. This was what led them to find the Xiao Clan and even win over them. Therefore, in this year's contest, the Cao Clan was much stronger with the help of Yang, Travis and Mary. If the Qi Clan chose to send the same people to join the contest, then the Cao Clan would have a better chance of winning.

To ensure the victory, Lucille had a pep talk with the three beast curers before the contest. As the backup contestant, Juey was not invited by Lucille. Juey only managed to qualify as a backup because Rocky assigned it to her. The Cao Clan knew that Juey had zero knowledge on the Beast Curing Skill. She was nothing more than a puppet in their eyes. That was why, in the two previous rounds, Juey didn't attend. Apparently, she was only being used by the Cao Clan to gain support from Rocky.

"Tomorrow's competition means life or death for the Cao Clan, so I hope you'll all perform your best. Of course, you'll all be given your fair shares. If we win tomorrow's competition, it means we will win the championship title. If successful, our clan will recover from its defeat and become well- known once again throughout the Timber Deity Empire. I hope you won't disappoint me!” Lucilla exclaimed while staring at them all seriously. "Don’t worry, Chief Lucilla! You can be certain all three of us will go all out to win this competition for both you and your clan.” Travis immediately bowed to show his respect.

Yang and Mary nodded.

"Thank you, everyone. It's getting late. Please go back and get some rest early.” Lucilla smiled and nodded before dismissing the trio.

"I've heard that Tod, Freddy, and their fellows will be watching the competition between the Cao Clan and the Qi Clan tomorrow..." Lucas turned to Lucilla and said once everyone had left.

"I suspect Uncle Tod and Uncle Freddy are waiting to see the Cao Clan humiliate itself. If the clan loses again this time, they'll come up with enough excuses to make me give up the position of chief,” Lucilla said in a serious tone.

"Then we have to win tomorrow. Defeat is unacceptable!” Lucas sighed and nodded. If the Cao Clan was defeated, they'd not only be trampled on by the Qi Clan, but also usher in a bloody storm of internal strife.

"By the way, where is Mr. Rookie? I haven't seen him for the entire day." Lucilla suddenly remembered and asked.

"I heard from Miss Juey that Mr. Rookie was suffering from some internal injuries yesterday after he used the Heavenly Shadow Evaluation Skill. He required secluded cultivation to fully recover," Lucas explained.

"Are his injuries serious? Is he all right?" Lucilla asked, the worry clear in her voice. She never expected Rocky to go all out and acquire internal injuries in the process to help assure the Cao Clan's victory during the competition.

"I think he's fine. Queenie informed me that she visited Mr. Rookie yesterday and found out he was all right." Lucas nodded his head in reassurance.

"That's good," Lucilla commented as a wave of relief washed over her.

"Chief, what do you think of Mr. Rookie?" Lucas asked abruptly while looking at Lucilla.

"What do you mean, Master Lucas?" Lucilla asked in confusion.

"You've done enough for the Cao Clan over the past few years. I think it's time for you to get an assistant. I believe Mr. Rookie is a good choice. Besides, Chief, I can see that you have...certain feelings for him. So, I am thinking you two may..." Lucas said bluntly.
