Rebirth of the Prime Dragon Master -
Chapter 814 An Unknown Chess Piece
Queenie, who had just got off Rainbow Glow Unicorn, didn't seem to care at all and just rolled her eyes. Despite the mischief on her face, her voice was serious as she carefully spoke, “I didn't expect you to be hiding such a powerful spiritual beast and it's much more powerful than it looks. Although I don't know why you're hiding your real strength, you must have your reasons. I'll help you keep your secret, if you let me play with your spirit-manipulated beast tomorrow."
"No way!" Rocky turned her down immediately with a shake of his head and quickly left.
"Stingy!" Queenie whined but didn't give up as she gave chase despite his long strides.
As soon as they entered the Cao mansion, two disciples of the Cao Clan hurriedly appeared before them. "Miss Queenie, you're finally back. The chief sent people everywhere to look for you.”
"I screwed up. Tate must have told Lucilla!" Queenie immediately guessed that her sister had caught scent of her wrongdoings.
Since there was nothing else for him to do, Rocky wanted to go back to the Osmanthus Yard first. But before he could take even one step away, Queenie grabbed onto his arm and said, "You have to go with me.” Without another word, she dragged Rocky to the hall
Even though he didn't want to be dragged into one more of Queenie's escapades, it wasn't wrong to say that Queenie caused problems this time because of him. Her original intention was to protect the Cao Clan anyway. Moreover, Queenie knew his secret, what if she revealed it? It would spell bad news for his future plans if the Cao Clan found out his stories. He couldn't let them be suspicious either.
"I'll come with you but you have to keep my secret.” Rocky walked alongside her as he laid out his conditions.
"All right, all right. I'll keep your little secret. Who wants to tell others anyway?" Queenie grumbled with a long face, despite her plans to use Rocky, he used her instead. She stirred up big trouble with her mistake, so she had to find a witness to defend her.
Once Queenie agreed, Rocky matched her hurried pace, he wanted to know who the chief of the Cao Clan was anyway.
Rocky saw both Lucilla and Lucas when they entered the Magnificent Hall. Of course, Rocky didn't know that Lucilla was actually the chief of the Cao Clan. After all, most chiefs of large clans were all very old. Meanwhile Lucilla looked like a frail young lady. It was very difficult to imagine that she was the chief of one of the most powerful clans in the Timber Deity Empire.
The pacing Lucilla paused in shock for a moment when she saw Queenie enter the Magnificent Hall with Rocky but it was quickly smoothed away as she stomped closer.
"Sister..." Queenie mumbled like a child caught with her hand in the cookie jar.
A slap smacked onto Queenie's face but Lucilla's expression was so distraught and pained that you'd think she was the one slapped instead.
Queenie was dumbfounded. Not once had she ever been slapped by her sister no matter what trouble she caused, at most her sister would scold her. This was the first time Lucilla laid her hands on her and her eyes pooled with tears as if she had been badly wronged.
Even Lucas was surprised at the sight as he didn't expect her to be that angry. He just sighed because there was nothing he could say. Queenie made a big mistake and exposed Rocky to the Qi Clan,
It wasn't too long ago when someone from the Qi Clan brought a message the scene Queenie caused at the Spirit Treasure Hall. Although the Qi Clan didn't want to look into this matter, the message said that Queenie mistook someone in her clan to be a traitor from the Qi Clan. Moreover, this person appeared in the Xiao Clan before and was a suspect in the killings of two Qi Clan masters who were at the Heavenly Stage.
Neither Lucas nor Lucilla understood, because they hadn't sent anyone to the Xiao Clan, let alone had killed two Qi Clan masters at the Heavenly Stage. Even though they thought it through over and over, they were still confused until Rocky walked in.
Before he recommended Rocky, Lucas secretly sent someone to the Xiao Clan to investigate him. He was sure that Rocky had nothing to do with the Qi Clan nor the other clans and even Lucilla's uncles. Moreover, he wasn't even from the Timber Deity Empire. Rocky always kept a low profile from the Xiao Clan to the Cao Clan. He looked indifferent and didn't seem like an ambitious person at all. Therefore, it was almost certain that he wasn't a threat to the Cao Clan.
For the Cao Clan, Rocky was like an unknown chess piece that might eventually be useful. However, Queenie labeled him as a betrayer of the Cao Clan right in front of Tate. This exposed Rocky to the Qi Clan and forced Lucas to give up all of his previous efforts.
That was why Lucilla was furious. After all, the Beast Master Contest was approaching and the drawn-out competition between the Cao Clan and the Qi Clan was finally in its last lap with the white line in sight. Any mistake, no matter how small, might have a great impact on the Cao Clan. "Don't you dare cry. Do you know what you've done? Why did you go to the Spirit Treasure Hall?! You even got Mr. Rookie involved..." Lucilla rebuked her, every word laced with disappointment. She could forgive the fact that Rocky was exposed to the Qi Clan, but how would she explain to her dead mother and father if something happened to Queenie? The two clans were enemies now and the Qi Clan was ruthless and cruel, no one knew what they'd do. Queenie was her only sister, thus, when she heard the message from the Qi Clan, her fear and anger nearly drove her mad.
"Chief Lucilla, Queenie knows that she's wrong now. So this time..." Lucas pitied Lucilla who was desperately trying to fight back her tears.
"Chief?" Rocky turned to look at Lucilla with widened eyes.
"Mr. Rookie, it's all my fault. I didn't discipline her well. Please forgive me! Could we discuss the matter happened at the Spirit Treasure Hall later? For now I just want to deal with family affairs...” Lucilla dismissed Rocky because she thought it was inappropriate to say something in front of someone who wasn't their family.
