Chapter 40: Escaped

Penelope POV

It was Drexel standing over there and stopping Freya from hitting me. Shocked, my throat went dry. In all my life this was what I could never imagine. Hunter saving me? Freya whipped her head to look at him. She snarled at the interruption and he snarled back. He shoved her hand down, growling his Alpha way. Freya winced and backed off

Seeing him, her eyes were full of tears. She covered her face and then ran out of the kitchen to their bedroom, sniffling. Drexel glared at me

I watched him going after her and felt tears in the back of my eyes. I didn't feel so bad about Freya calling me a whore as I felt about him going after her. I grabbed the edge of the marble counter and exhaled roughly, trying to control my tears. I couldn't stay in the same apartment as Freya was with him. I needed to distance myself and I wanted to go to find Kimberley

Maybe, I should even go to Alpha Steven and escape. This was my chance

Wiping my tears, I hurried out of the kitchen

When I opened the door, I found the gamma warriors still standing over there

"You are not allowed to leave!" said one of them. They formed a human wall in front of me

If Alpha Drexel was here, I was sure that his Beta was also there. I thought of going there, but I darted downstairs. There was so much activity with everyone buzzing about Alpha Steven that I was on the edge of my nerves. I wanted to go to the log cabin but with the four gammas on my tail, how could I?
