~Oliver's

POV

I stepped onto the front porch of Marilla's house. It seemed so familiar, yet foreign. I took in a deep breath as Marilla turned the key to the door of her house. The door swung open.

"You'll be sleeping in the guest room, which is here," Marilla said, pointing to a neat room on the left as we walked towards the living room. The guest room had clean, white walls with a wide window looking out to the front garden; it had a small table with a lamp, and a soft-looking bed in the corner.

"Cool," I said as we strolled pass the room. Marilla's mother was sitting in the living room reading a book. She looked up and smiled when she saw Marilla, but a surprised look passed across her face as she saw me. "Who's this, Marilla?" Marilla's mom asked. Her voiced was gentle and reminded me of my mother. Dang it, Ollie, don't get homesick yet! I thought, frustrated. I looked over at Marilla, hoping she had an answer for this. "Oh, this is Oliver. He's the transfer student from Myra--" I cringed as Marilla nearly said Myragon. "I mean Australia." She finished. Marilla's mother gave me an interested look.

"Hello Oliver," she said, her face starting to form a smile. "You can call me Abigail."

~Marilla's POV

"Really? Australia? Where even is that place again?" Oliver asked. I rolled my eyes.

"Never mind. You'll learn all about it in school anyways," I said. "You know how to do Math and Geography?"

"Yeah," Oliver replied. "And obviously English, too. I have no idea what any of the other subjects are, though. Well, I guess I know Geography. You said that was basically stuff around the world, right?" I nodded.

"Oh," I said, grinning. "You'll also finally get to learn what Science is," I said as we walked into my room. "Remember this?" I said cheekily as I picked up my lava lamp. Oliver's blue eyes widened.

"That thing!" He pointed at the glowing lamp. I laughed.

"Science will help you to know that this lava-lamp is not magic," I explained. "You'll also find out how it works,"

"How does it work?"

"Um...I don't remember. But I will. Soon." I replied. Oliver looked at me disbelievingly.

"Even you don't know how it works?" He said this with such a surprised expression on his face I couldn't help but laugh.

"Whatever," I giggled. "Let's get you settled in,"

Elvira gave Oliver some money to buy the uniform for our school. I had stared at her in awe as the money just appeared in her hands. Had she stolen it? Or was it just her magical-sparkly-spirit power-thingamajigs? I thought as Oliver and I walked towards the shopping centre. We headed towards the uniform shop. The friendly shopkeeper took Oliver's measurements, assembled all the requirements for his uniform, and in about half an hour, we were done. "That was quick," Oliver said, a hint of surprise in his voice.

"Oh boy," I said. "You don't even want to talk about fast. Wait 'till you see all the technology we've invented,"

The portal crackled and fizzed, swirling and whirling until it looked like a mini black hole. The Ragnarok's eyes gleamed in the blood red light, evil and viciously cunning.

"Well donnnne...." The Ragnarok hissed at no one in particular; although it was mostly congratulating itself. This was the moment that would change everything. With this portal, the Ragnarok would conquer every dimension and universe in the multiverse: starting with that puny, insignificant speck of a planet called Earth. The Ragnarok's bony tail knocked against the dusty earth as it's skull-like head bobbed with the anticipation of more delicious blood. More death. More fear.

It could always eat it's servants, of course, but they were too useful. Human blood was so much more tempting, after all. The Ragnarok could imagine ripping the powerless being's limbs off as it screamed delightfully, graciously allowing the Ragnarok to then gulp it down and swallow it whole. Saliva dripped onto the black ground. The Ragnarok shook itself. It had no time for these worthless fantasies. It would get to taste real human blood soon anyway. Now it had to get down to business.

The Ragnarok cackled, opening it's wicked mouth and pointing it's ugly teeth towards the black sky. It's forked tongue tasted the air as if to eat up the sky. As it did so, the stars hid fearfully from view behind storm clouds as it began to rain. Still laughing, the Ragnarok advanced towards the portal and dived into the churning black cloud.

As the Ragnarok's shrieks faded away into the night, the dark portal sputtered for one last time before it flickered out and disappeared.
