Chapter 1751 Those Memories

Athena's expression turned serious as she looked at Byron with concern. "Is something wrong?"

Byron met her gaze.

In his mind, that pitiful and helpless face slowly overlapped with her current anxious expression.

It felt like his heart was tugged by a thousand dull knives, causing much pain.

"Don't worry." Byron shook his head and reached out to hold Athena in his arms, hugging her tightly. "Just hold me for a bit, that's all."

Athena grew more anxious.

"Did I hurt you somehow?" She asked concernedly.

"Do you think your strength could harm me? Then I'd be too fragile." Byron nestled his head against her neck. "I just... I just miss you."

Athena was slightly taken aback.

And then she suddenly realized something.

She asked Byron, "Did something trigger your memory?"

Was it the memory from those five years?

Byron paused, then shared. "I saw us in a hotel, and I said... we should keep our distance outside."

Athena was taken aback again.

She and Byron had been to many hotels due to countless business trips all year round.

But if added the condition of keeping their distance outside, it could only refer to the first time they became intimate and had sex.

Since Athena had been acting as a substitute, she was sensible and self-aware, taking her role seriously.

When Byron said to keep their distance outside, she had always followed his instructions. She would never approach him outside unless Byron asked her to be by his side. So, he had only said that once.

"Did something like that happen?" Athena gently stroked Byron's head. "I don't know when it happened. Let's not think about it."

Byron remained silent.

They held each other quietly for a while.

This single scene of memory made Byron feel highly precious. According to what Gideon had said, there seemed to be even more intense things than this, so he cherished it. So, Athena didn't want him to have acupuncture.

She didn't want him to recall those memories.

That night, Byron slept restlessly.

He could always see her clear, reddened eyes, silently blaming him in his dreams.

When Athena, Evie, and Sally went for a walk the following day, Byron took the time to seek out Elijah.

"Do you want to try acupuncture? Does Athena know about it?" Elijah asked.

"She doesn't need to know," Byron replied, "And I won't do it in Northern Canakey either. After Evie gives birth, and we're back in Girard City, I'll do it then."

Elijah hesitated. "Then let's wait until we're in Girard City. If you still insist, I'll perform acupuncture for you."

"Thank you," Byron said sincerely.

"You're welcome," Elijah replied.

And so, they agreed with the idea.

The time went on these peaceful days.

Soon, it was just a few days before Evie's due date.

Everyone was on high alert except for the soon-to-be mother herself.

Logan and Rose also rushed over from Girard City with Jaxson.

Seeing how swollen Evie's legs were, Logan couldn't hold back his emotions.

He retreated to a corner, poking at an anthill, shedding tears of sorrow.
