My Mommy Became A Billionaire After the Breakup -
Chapter 1595
Chapter 1595 Had Ms. Campbell Gotten Her Wish?
Sally glanced at the prayer beads coiled around his wrist and smiled sheepishly.
It was pretty common for a monk to leave the monastery.
Sally thought Elijah had not left the monastery because of that CPR incident. He was saving a life!
Prioritizing one's life was the most important!
The divine powers wouldn't have held it against him. Elijah couldn't have left the monastery due to that. The temptations of the mortal world were strong. It wasn't solely about the CPR incident!
"Oh, I see. By the way, I think I have something to attend to in my room. Goodbye!"
Sally waved her hand. She swiftly went off as fast as the wind.
Sally had made a reservation for a month-long cruise. The trip involved sailing for approximately one month on the open sea.
She managed to hide for two days. And, as inevitable as fate, she re-encountered Elijah.
At first, they chatted casually, but Sally didn't realize how insightful Elijah was. He didn't talk much, yet he hit the mark with what he said every time he spoke.
They became even more familiar after spending half a month together. Sally couldn't hide her curiosity and finally asked about her confusion when they met again, "Elijah, when did you leave the monastery? And why?"
Elijah glanced at her. "It's been a long time, about ten years? I returned because worldly desires swayed me," He spoke calmly. It seemed like his engagement in worldly desires had no connection to Sally. "You grew up in a church from a young age and were swayed by worldly desires, either? The woman must have been exceptional," Sally asked after hearing his explanation.
Elijah gazed at her, "She was exceptional in my eyes, captivating enough for me to abandon my monastic path and compete against my nephew. Unfortunately, her heart belonged to someone else. She couldn't accept my marriage proposal."
There was a noticeable hint of aggression in his tone.
Sally was baffled. "Um... Elijah, I'm a straightforward person with a one-track mind. My brain doesn't work too fast, so I'll ask you bluntly. The person you're talking about isn't me, is it?" Sally chuckled awkwardly.
Elijah nodded very calmly. He replied, "It's you."
"And the worldly desire wasn't the CPR, was it?" Sally continued to ask.
"It was."
Sally was shocked beyond words. What a naive monk he was!
"My bad!" Sally tapped her head. "You wouldn't have left the monastery if I hadn't almost drowned back then!"
Elijah averted his gaze.
It was sunset at sea. The sky was adorned with splendid hues, and the sun was mostly dipped below the western horizon.
Sally thought that the topic would end here. After all, it was something from ten years ago.
Based on Elijah's looks, behavior, and history, Sally thought he was likely already in a relationship.
With that in mind, Sally wished she could give herself a good punch.
She should have asked Elijah earlier whether he was married or in a relationship. If he was, then these recent conversations had been entirely unnecessary.
"Ms. Campbell, have your wishes come true after ten years?" Just when Sally thought the topic was shifting, Elijah suddenly spoke softly.
Sally's body tensed up. Then, she slumped. Her energy deflated. "Do I look like someone whose wishes have come true?"
"Then do you still want to persevere?" Elijah followed up.
Sally lowered her eyes. Her toenails, which she had polished before boarding, had grown out and were now causing discomfort while wearing shoes. She had clumsily cut them herself. It looked pretty unsightly.
If she were with Gideon, she would've carefully retracted her feet to hide them from his view.
However, she did not have any such notions at the moment.
So what if it was ugly? What did it matter?
"I'm feeling a bit tired," Sally replied truthfully.
She had accompanied Gideon and experienced a life-and-death ordeal once.
