"Clink!"

The two cups collided, making a solid clinking sound that resounded throughout the room. Preslie felt a loud clink in her heart as well.

She wasn't sure if she was just overthinking things.

She found Yesseca's smiling face much more worrying than her pale and sad one.

Meanwhile in a villa in Agaphen City

Essie had returned.

She had secretly exchanged one of Selina's and Matthew's baby's and had quietly raised it with a couple.

But this couple was about to get divorced.

His wife had cheated on him with another man who was ten years older than him.

She wanted to divorce him and to live with that other man.

Essie had found his wife and told her to take the baby with her.

But the wife didn't want to.

She told her, "I know you paid us money to raise this baby and we have. She's two years old now. But I'm getting a divorce and I won't bring that burden with me. I'm not taking her."

Essie didn't say anything, she simply handed the woman more money.

Tempted by the sight of more money, the women greedily grabbed the money.

She took the money from Essie as her eyes glimmered. "Alright, I'll take her with me. But remember our deal. If at any point she refuses to stay with me, I'm leaving her behind. I'm only agreeing to take her along with me for the money, nothing more." Essie smiled as her eyes rested on a young girl in the distance.

The girl was squatting in a corner of the yard. She was dirty and had a look of restraint and unease about her. But despite that, she couldn't conceal her beautiful features.

She was only two years old, but Essie could tell from her eyes that she would be a great beauty when she grew up.

This young girl had inherited Matthew and Selina's best features.

But being beautiful would mean nothing for her. She wasn't raised by the Perry family, she would never be loved for it.

In her current environment, being beautiful was a burden.

"Okay." Essie smiled and agreed to the deal with the woman.

She was very well aware that a woman who was remarrying would do everything she could to get rid of any children she had, especially if they weren't her own.

She would do everything she could to torture Selina and Matthew's little girl to force her to leave.

Which was exactly what Essie wanted.

She was going to let Selina and Matthew's daughter suffer. Once she couldn't stand her 'mother's' tortures any longer she would run away. Essie would then find her another pair of parents. Then another round of torture would happen again.

She despised Selina and Matthew so much, that the only way she could get her revenge was to torture their daughter.

After Essie had left, the woman walked to the girl.

The girl raised her dirty face and whispered softly, "Mom."

She seemed to know that something was about to happen to her family, so she quickly grabbed the woman's sleeves uneasily, "Please don't leave me."

In this household, no one liked little girls.

Her father, in particular, was an alcoholic and would often beat her up when he was drunk.

She was terrified of her father.

In the past few days, she roughly heard her parents arguing and agreeing to a divorce.

The girl badly wanted to be with her mother.

Even though her mother wasn't nice to her, at least she wouldn't beat her.

She wouldn't get drunk. Instead she would lift her up and throw towards a corner.

It felt really uncomfortable.

If her mother was going to leave, she hoped that her mother would take her along.

She was deathly afraid of her father.

The woman shook off the

girl's hand and glared at

her coldly. "If you want to follow me, then come along. But if you ever get upset for following me, then just leave."

Once the woman had taken Essie's money, she would continue to play along being her mother. But if she had the chance, she would have easily left the girl on the street or back in the house. But the women didn't dare to do either of those things.

She didn't know what Essie might do if she did. She seemed to know everything that was going on.

Like her decision to divorce her husband. Essie had somehow found out and suddenly showed up today.

What's more, Essie looked disgustingly sinister, which scared the woman.

If she decided to go back on the deal she made with Essie, there's no knowing if Essie would retaliate.

It was only for this reason that the woman would take the little girl along.

Besides, she had already made it clear to Essie. If at any time the little girl refused to go along with her, she would simply leave her.

If the little girl refused, then that was it. She had kept her end of the deal!

In Nashaland.

Preparations were underway for Rorita and Tremaine's wedding.

The Cowell family was a little unhappy at how unbothered Tremaine was in the wedding preparations.

However, they kept their gripes and complaints small and in private. Tremaine was the president after all.

Even though the Cowell family was a prestigious family, they didn't dare speak against the president.

They were also concerned that

Rorita might think the worst of him

for acting this way and sought to comfort her. They told her that Tremaine was very busy with presidential duties and therefore had to entrust the wedding preparations to other people.

Weverly on the other hand, quietly pulled Rorita aside.

Weverly knew what was going on.

Although Rorita was the beloved daughter of the Cowell family, she was a member of one of the most prestigious families in Nashaland. Aside from considering her family's status, there were certain political factors to be considered as well. But Weverly didn't care about those consequences, she only cared about her sister's happiness.

Weverly explained, "Rorita, you can tell if a man really loves a woman when he takes it upon himself to personally arrange the marriage. But based on his actions, it's clear as day that he has no feelings for you at all."

"He's only met you once and has immediately agreed to marrying you. He's never once asked for your input in any of the wedding preparations. I am more than certain that he only intends to use you as a puppet wife."

"You really need to reconsider this.

When I married my husband, he was so particular about everything for our wedding. He made sure to personally hand select the candy we sent out to all of our guests. You can tell just how different things are for you right now."

Rorita's long eyelashes fluttered gently.

The truth was, she was very disappointed at how the president had arranged their wedding for their guests.

But she knew why.

Because when they met, the president had told her that he was already in love with another woman and no one else could ever replace her.

The president had explained things very clearly to her.

He didn't lie to her, nor did he force her into any of this.

She made the choice herself.

The president had made it clear that it was entirely up to her.

If she agreed to his offer, then she couldn't hold him accountable for not loving her.

Besides, even she wasn't looking forward to the wedding.

If she knew it would be like this, she wouldn't have bothered to have one.

Rorita said softly, "Sister, do you know how I first saw him when I was fourteen? I thought he was the most amazing and dazzling man had ever seen in my entire life. Everyone couldn't stop looking at him. Neither could I. The light in his

eyes was so breathtaking in his

forgotten everything, even

breathing."

"I really wanted to talk to him, but I didn't dare to."

I had

"After so many years, I've met so many other men but none of them can compare to him. None of them held me in such a way like he does, none of them could take my breath away."
