My Coldhearted Ex demands a Remarriage -
Chapter 65
Episode 65
Elizabeth’s gaze shifted towards the phone, spotting the name “Sandra” flashing across the screen.Elijah answered the phone, his face a canvas of calm that gradually hardened like setting cement.
Whatever was said on the other end seemed to weigh heavily on him.
He replied, “Alright, I see.” Ending the call, he turned to his family and announced, “I need to head to the company right away.
” Melany’s eyes narrowed as she glanced at Elizabeth.
“Is it truly that urgent? Can’t you wait until after dinner? You’re planning to leave Elizabeth here alone?” Elijah nodded, his decision unchanged.
He quickly finished his meal, rising from the table.
“Oliver will drive you home,” he told Elizabeth, his tone leaving no room for argument.
“Understood.
Drive safely,” Elizabeth responded softly, her smile remaining gentle even as her eyes grew cold.
Her fingers tightened almost imperceptibly around her fork, her knuckles blanching.
The moment Sandra’s name surfaced—even if only as a distant hint—Elijah’s patience with their pretense had evaporated.
After Elijah’s car disappeared, Kailee broke the silence.
“That was Sandra on the phone, wasn’t it?” Her voice carried a hint of provocation.
Elizabeth’s response was sharp.
“Since when did you become an investigative journalist?” Kailee’s lips curled into a patronizing smile.
“I’m simply looking out for you.
Lose your husband’s heart, and you’ll regret it.” Billie, who had been quiet until now, set down her fork with deliberate precision.
“Kailee speaks the truth,” she said, her gaze boring into Elizabeth.
“As a wife, your focus should be on Elijah and building a family.
At your age, chasing stardom is foolish.
A child would strengthen your bond.” Her eyes dropped meaningfully to Elizabeth’s stomach.
“You’ve been married two years with no child.
Perhaps it’s time for a medical evaluation.” Elijah hadn’t touched her since their wedding night; if she were to have a child, it would surely be a biblical miracle.
Elizabeth’s response was measured.
“Having a baby isn’t something I can accomplish alone.” Billie’s sharp gaze flickered with disbelief.
In the past, Elizabeth had always swallowed such cutting remarks with quiet deference, letting them slide off like rain on a slick roof.
But this time, her poised defiance hit Billie like a slap.
Billie turned to Melany, her voice laced with indignation.
