My Coldhearted Ex demands a Remarriage -
Chapter 29
“Ms.
Elizabeth, perhaps you’re mistaken.
You haven’t even qualified to compete against Sandra.”Elizabeth had resolved to move forward, bracing herself for Elijah’s indifference, yet her heart still hesitated at his remarks, a nervous unease gripping her as her fingers clenched tightly into fists.
She understood with a sinking feeling that, in his perspective, she didn’t even measure up to Sandra.
The moment Sandra entered the picture, Elizabeth’s prospects seemed to vanish.
After a prolonged discussion, the director and playwright finally concluded their deliberations and emerged from the chamber.
“Director, have you finalized a verdict?” Sandra asked, her gaze sharp and shrewd as she intercepted him with a composed grin.
Her tone was light, yet her eyes flitted momentarily towards Elizabeth, eager to detect any trace of dissatisfaction.
Sandra’s assurance was fortified by her fame, Elijah’s support, the audition manuscript she had received in advance, and even a second trial—everything hinted at a decision in her favor.
To her, their deliberations were nothing more than a formality.
She almost savored the possibility of witnessing Elizabeth’s disheartened expression.
Unexpectedly, the director hesitated, sharing an uncertain glance with Elijah before he spoke.
“I’m sorry, Mr.
James.
While Sandra’s audition was commendable and she certainly fits the part visually, the playwright and the original creator are in agreement—Elizabeth embodies the leading role more closely.
Would Sandra consider taking on the secondary role? What are your thoughts?”
“What?”
The director’s statement struck Sandra like a jolt, catching her off guard.
Unable to conceal her response, she inhaled sharply, her face twisting momentarily in displeasure.
Swiftly regaining her poise, she forced a strained grin and conceded, “It seems my abilities aren’t quite sufficient.
Congratulations, Ms.
Elizabeth.”
Before Elijah could utter any words of solace, Sandra gently grasped his arm, her tone tender yet resolute.
“Elijah, it’s alright.
Missing out on this role just shows I need to sharpen my skills further.
I promise, I’ll strive even harder.”
At this, Elva couldn’t hide her annoyance, her voice laced with disdain.
“Unbelievable! A complete novice with no acting background seizes the leading role from Sandra? Something shady is definitely happening here.”
