Mommy,We Got a Husband
Chapter 54 If It’s Not Orion, Who Do You Want to Marry? Galatea?

Harry didn't see it coming. He slammed the phone down and lunged to snatch the black card from Elisa's grip, but she sidestepped with the agility of a cat. "Harry, I'm your flesh and blood," Elisa challenged him, "Hiding your wealth like this-it's downright sleazy!"

Harry felt cornered. 'How was this mess his fault?'

"Listen, Elisa, this card isn't mine and we can't use this money." Harry tried to reason while reaching for the black card again, but Elisa hugged it securely.

"Harry Storm, you'd invent any excuse to keep me from your cash," Elisa accused. "Didn't you brag about raking in a fat bonus? Weren't you the one who said what's yours is mine? Now here I am, unable to touch it, and you're backpedaling, saying that the card's not even yours. Don't you think you're overdoing it?"

Realizing he was in a dilemma and unable to vindicate himself, Harry surrendered and said, "All right, you win. The card's yours. Consider it a gift from your big bro."

There was a bitter edge to Harry's voice. The sister he'd shared his life with now seemed to have a greater fondness for Caspian than for him, and it stung.

"For real, you're giving it to me?" Elisa's face lit up with excitement. "Is there a passcode? What's the passcode?"

"Figure it out yourself." How would he know the PIN? Harry retreated to his bedroom and shut the door.

Once back in his room, Harry found himself unable to sleep, feeling a poignant sense of helplessness. If he were an adult, he could be at the hospital caring for his mom, not having to rely on that jerk. "Mom, how are you feeling today? Better?" Harry sent a text to Galatea, expecting a long wait before she replied, but surprisingly, her response came quickly.

"Don't worry, Harry, I'm feeling much better today."

After replying, Galatea placed her phone aside. It was a new phone Alaric had just bought for her. She had been adamant about not wanting it, but her old phone wouldn't even turn on anymore. She accepted the new phone, fearing Harry might worry if he couldn't reach her.

"Thanks for the phone. I'll pay you back," she said.

"You've had to replace your phone twice because of me. It's only right that I cover the cost," Alaric replied.

Alaric Spencer was a capable man. To him, replacing her phone was a small matter. Arguing would get her nowhere, and Galatea simply lacked the strength to resist. So, she let it slide.

"You seem more energetic today," he noted. Galatea had been weak and exhausted, struggling even to speak. Now, she appeared visibly invigorated.

Nodding, she acknowledged, "I should also thank you for taking care of me. I do feel better. Please, go ahead with your work."

The Entertainment City project was on the agenda, and it would indeed keep him busy.

Alaric, a man consumed by his career, had surprisingly pushed the bid opening for the project back a month for Galatea's sake.

With the project delayed, the company's executives were handling his daily duties, allowing him to focus all his attention on Galatea.

"The company is mine, and I decide when I'm busy," Alaric stated firmly. "Like I said before, I'm responsible for your accident. I won't leave until you're discharged." That sure showed some accountability!

Since Alaric insisted, Galatea had no choice but to comply.

Just then, Alaric's phone rang. He glanced at the screen and his heart sank at the contact's name displayed.

"Get some rest, I need to take this call outside," Alaric said, walking out of the hospital room before he answered Mrs. Carrington's call.

"Hello, mom."

Mrs. Carrington's voice came through, laced with anger. "I leave the country for a few days, and you kick out my daughter-in-law? Do you even consider me your mother anymore?" "Who told you? Orion or Griffon?" Alaric asked.

"Does it matter who told me?" shot back Mrs. Carrington. "Just tell me if it's true."

"Yes!" Alaric's response was definitive.

"You're trying to be the death of me!" Mrs. Carrington exclaimed, furious. "Alaric, you should realize that our Knight family and the Nash family's connection isn't just one of old friendship. Our economic interests are intertwined. If we sever ties, it'll be damaging to both families."

"Moreover, after your father passed and I took over the company, Griffon was a great support during that tough phase. And Orion, she waited for you all those years while you were in a coma. So, both in business and in personal terms, Orion is the only one who can be your wife!"

"Business and personal?" Alaric couldn't help but chuckle. "So, in your eyes, my marriage is just a tool for the family's growth, devoid of love or happiness?"

"You're not the child of an ordinary family. You were born with a mission. If a marriage alliance is beneficial for the family's progress, then that's what you must pursue."

"What if I say no?" Alaric stated firmly. "My engagement to Orion was arranged by the elders, and I never consented to it. I don't like Orion. As a matter of fact, I loathe her now more than ever. I will never marry her!" "Then who do you want to marry? Galatea?"

When her name slipped from her lips, Alaric felt a jolt in his chest.

'So, the Nash family has told her everything.'

"Hit the nail on the head, did I?" Mrs. Carrington guessed, seeing Alaric's silence, she became more furious. "I'll book a flight right now and come back. I want to see for myself how Galatea has managed to bewitch you." "Mom, please wait!" Alaric urged, trying to stop her.

His mother was cunning and ruthless. If Galatea had been healthy, he could have kept her safe, but with her current health...

'Mrs. Carrington stirring up trouble would certainly impact her recovery. Everything must wait until Galatea has completely recovered.'

"Is that what the Nash family told you?" Alaric responded, unaffected. "No wonder. I led them to believe that just so Orion Nash would back off. Galatea Hartley is merely my attending physician treating a complex concussion - the only one who can manage it."

"Complications? Your condition has worsened?" Mrs. Carrington sounded particularly anxious. "Really? What happened?"

"There's no need to worry. It's just some signs of worsening. Galatea is treating me, and she says it will be resolved."

"How will it be resolved? And she's the only one who can do it?" Mrs. Carrington was seemingly unconvinced. "There are so many renowned doctors here and abroad, yet only she can treat it? Alaric, you're going to great lengths to keep me from interfering with her, aren't you?"
