Mommy,We Got a Husband
Chapter 401 So What Exactly Do You Suspect Him of?

"Did you really can Tommy?" Cormac was floored when he rolled into the office today.

Alaric just nodded. "Yep."

"Why?" Cormac was scratching his head. "Isn't he Josep's nephew? And Josep saved your life, man. Isn't it kinda messed up to fire him?" "I get it," Alaric sighed. "Because he's Josep's nephew, even if Tommy screwed up big time, I should cut him some slack for Josep's sake." Cormac was even more baffled. "Then why'd you boot him? From what I know, the dude's a workhorse. No big screw-ups, not even tiny ones." Alaric nodded. "Yeah, he's a hard worker, always eager to learn, and even volunteers for overtime. From a boss's view, he's the perfect employee." Cormac, still puzzled, asked, "Then why the hell did you fire him if he's so good?"

"Ever had any doubts about him?" Alaric shot back. "Think about that threatening letter. We don't even know who our enemy is, and Tommy just pops up outta nowhere, right by our side. Even though he's Josep's nephew, they haven't talked in years. Besides a bit of blood relation, he's basically a stranger."

"I know Josep's gonna be pissed, and even Galatea won't be thrilled, but because of Josep, I had to act first and explain later."

"If I had asked for their opinions first, I wouldn't have been able to fire him. I've already had Silas buy some gifts, and I'm planning to visit Josep tomorrow to apologize."

"So, what exactly do you think he's up to?" Cormac asked.

Alaric explained, "You might think I'm paranoid, but when stuff like this keeps happening, it's not just a coincidence. He's way too interested in Galatea, or maybe he's trying to mess things up between me and her. He's had physical contact with her twice, and he uses a photo of her as his computer wallpaper.. And let's not forget the media incident."

"Recently, he's been doing almost all of Silas's work. As the general manager's assistant, he knew you'd be in a meeting and your phone would be on silent."

"That's when the reporters swarmed in. He called you first, and when you didn't answer, he called Galatea, asking her to come to the office."

"So, I have every reason to think he set this up to make Galatea grateful to him and drive a wedge between us."

Cormac asked, "So do you think he just likes Galatea, or is there something else going on?"

"I'm not sure yet. I just find him super shady. I can't keep someone like that around us," Alaric said.

"That's true but firing him without telling Galatea might piss her off," Cormac said, worried.

Alaric knew it. "I'll explain to her and hope she gets it."

"Let's hope so," Cormac said. "Even the best couples argue, but too many fights can mess things up, especially for you two lovebirds. Every argument leaves a mark." Alaric chuckled, "You really are a shrink, huh? Got marriage issues down pat."

Cormac rolled his eyes. "Cut the crap. I'm being serious here."

Alaric smirked, "Yeah, yeah, I know."

Just then, Alaric's phone buzzed. It was Neil. He picked up. "Hey, Neil."

Neil said, "I dug into that Tommy guy you asked about."

Alaric asked, "And?"

"Pretty clean," Neil replied. "Lost his mom young, raised by his dad who did well in business, so they're well-off. Always been a top student, lots of hobbies. Came to Country A 'cause his dad died recently. He's got a big social circle, knows a lot of people, but nothing shady. On paper, he looks like a standout, ambitious guy."

Alaric nodded, "Got it. Thanks, Neil."

"No problem. One more thing," Neil added. "I've been watching the Vale family. Just saw Ambrose and Tommy chatting in a coffee shop for a long time."

Ambrose and Tommy? Alaric had a hunch, and this made Tommy even more suspicious. Alaric said, "Okay, noted."

"Is Ambrose trying to recruit Tommy?" Cormac was shocked. "What's his game?"

"He just loves to mess with me," Alaric snorted. "I've been too busy to deal with him, but it's time he feels some heat."

Alaric drummed his fingers on the table, eyes blazing with anger.

He got home early today, and dinner was already set when he walked in.

"Where are the kids?" Alaric asked, not seeing the three little ones. "Weren't you bringing them back?"

"Yeah, that was the plan, but Josep came over, and we lost track of time. So, I decided to let them stay at school tonight," Stellan explained.

"Josep came over?" Alaric didn't expect him so soon. "Guess he knows about Tommy already. Did you know I fired him?"

"Yeah," Stellan said. "Alaric, you're a director at Nexus Innovations. You can fire anyone, even top execs. But Tommy was Josep's guy, and he didn't screw up. Firing him out of nowhere, I don't know how to explain it to Josep." "You don't have to. I'll go see him tomorrow and explain," Alaric said.

"But why? Why'd you fire Tommy out of the blue?" Stellan was baffled.
