Mommy,We Got a Husband
Chapter 360 Won't That Make Me a Laughingstock?

Seeing Stellan all fired up, Alaric quickly pulled her into a hug and said, "Galatea, chill out. I swear, I wasn't trying to keep stuff from you. I'm not being stubborn; my body's really doing fine." "You want me to just veg out at home all day, but I can't sit still. I'm just digging up some info; it's no biggie."

Stellan shot back, "So I was right? You're really poking around the Storm Family case?"

Alaric nodded. "Yeah, pretty much. I've got some evidence and put in for a retrial. Once it's greenlit, we can dive into the investigation."

Stellan was floored. 'Evidence already? We have been at it forever with zilch. How is that even possible?'

Alaric looked at her. "Trust me, soon your dad's name will be cleared, and you can finally chill."

"Alaric, what do you want me to say?" Stellan was at a loss. "Should I be touched by what you've done or pissed that you ignored the doc's orders?"

Alaric said, "I don't need your thanks. I'm your husband; it's my job. As for the doc's orders, my bad, but I promise I'll look after myself."

Stellan was speechless. Alaric kissed her cheek and said, "Alright, Galatea, don't be mad. Let's go pick up the kids, yeah?"

With Cormac back, Stellan could relax a bit and get home earlier.

"Okay, let's go." Stellan quickly added, "But don't mention any of this to them."

"This is grown-up stuff. Why would I tell them? Relax, I'll keep it on the down-low." Alaric hugged Stellan, and they hopped in the car. Caspian, Harry, and Elisa were stoked to see both of them. "Daddy, Mommy!"

The three of them ran over. Alaric scooped up Elisa, while Stellan held the other two's hands.

"We haven't gone out to eat in forever. How about we grab dinner out tonight?" Alaric suggested. "Yeah, I want steak. It's been ages since we had steak," Elisa said.

Alaric grinned. "Alright, steak it is."

Seeing their excitement, Stellan didn't want to kill the vibe and said, "Just this once."

"Okay, just this once," Alaric promised.

They hit up a restaurant, and it felt like forever since they'd eaten out together. The kids were loving it.

"It's so nice to eat out together," Elisa said, super happy.

Alaric teased, "Elisa, you're so easy to please?"

"Of course," Elisa said, "As long as the five of us are together, it's the best."

Elisa was right. As long as the five of them were together, it was the best.

The family had a blast eating. Just as they were wrapping up, Elisa's smartwatch buzzed with a call from "Grandma." Marigold? Since they cut ties, they hadn't been in each other's business. Why was she suddenly calling Elisa?

"Should I answer it?" Elisa asked, unsure.

"No need," Alaric said, ending the call.

Honestly, Alaric and Stellan had no plans to reconnect after cutting ties. But since she was the kids' grandma, Alaric didn't want to be too harsh.

He figured after some time, when Marigold cooled down, he'd let the kids visit her. Otherwise, seeing her now would just lead to her dumping her issues on Stellan, making things worse. "Alright, I'll turn it off and not answer." Elisa turned off her watch.

After the call was cut, Marigold angrily called again, only to find it was turned off. "Even Elisa won't answer my calls. They are really heartless!"

Marigold didn't want to call Alaric and Stellan. She knew Caspian and Harry wouldn't answer either, so she tried calling Elisa, but no luck.

Joe, standing by, didn't dare to speak. Seeing Marigold on the verge of tears, he quickly handed her a tissue.

Marigold took the tissue, wiping her tears and saying, "I've busted my butt for the Knight Family all these years, and now I'm left with nothing."

Joe tried to comfort her. "Mrs. Knight, don't be too sad. Maybe Mr. Knight is still mad. Give it a few more days..."

Marigold shouted, "How long do I have to wait? If it weren't for my upcoming sixtieth birthday, I wouldn't be trying to contact them. And they won't even answer my calls." Joe said, "Mrs. Knight, if Mr. Knight doesn't come to your birthday..."

Marigold valued the Knight Family's reputation the most. If Alaric's family didn't come to her sixtieth birthday celebration, it would be a laughingstock.

"If they don't come, I won't hold it. Why should I become a laughingstock, with people mocking me behind my back, saying my son didn't come to my birthday?" Marigold said angrily.

Joe remarked, "But it's your sixtieth birthday, such an important milestone. How can you not celebrate it? Several friends from prominent families have already asked me where your birthday celebration will be. They all want to come and celebrate with you."

The Knight Family was still very influential, and many people wanted to curry favor with them. Marigold's birthday was a perfect opportunity.

A sixtieth birthday was a significant milestone, and it shouldn't be missed. But if Alaric's family didn't come...

Marigold ordered, "I said I wouldn't go to Alaric's house. Joe, tomorrow you go and tell Alaric that for the sake of the Knight Family's reputation, they must come to my birthday celebration."

Joe nodded. "Got it, Mrs. Knight. I'll go first thing in the morning," Joe replied.

The next day, Joe went to the Knight mansion early in the morning. When he arrived, Alaric's family was still having breakfast.

"Mr. Knight, Mrs. Knight," Joe greeted.

Stellan checked the time. It was only seven o'clock. Why was he here so early? Was it because Elisa didn't answer the call yesterday?
